this video is 4 years old. commenting about cultural appropriation isn't going to teach me anything i haven't already learned, but thank you for your energy - negative or positive, i'm sending you love and hope your journey is blissful.
(brand name): Wild & Free For hair that looks like it's been raided by animals. Terms & Conditions Apply. No tears! Ps. If shampoo gets in the eyes, rinse thoroughly until eyes turn red, if stinging doesn't stop, cry about it and drink plenty of water. Finally, go to the doctor immediately.
You look so good with natural hair. Of course keep doing what you like because it’s your life, have fun with it, but I feel like ‘natural’ hair suits you best xox
Bell Coleman you're so welcome! I wasn't allowed to have braces when I was a kid. My dad didn't want to waste the money. My teeth aren't super crooked.. but they certainly aren't straight. Props to your mom though! It was definitely money well spent. I would kill for teeth like yours. 😭😄
If anyone in the comments is planning to brush out dreadlocks, look for a deep conditioner for natural hair with a lot of slip! That slip is what makes it possible for people with natural hair to detangle it and it’ll help a lot, so look for one with slip!
Ms. Keisha Nah man, you’re thinking way too far into it. I was skeptical about what it would look like afterwards considering her hair had been used to the dreads for so long but the outcome took me by complete surprise and in the end I was glad she made the decision to take the dreads out because I personally think that she looks better without them! That’s all I’m saying. Nothing rude or anything like that👍🏻
Curls and waves are the cutest thing ever. My hair was half way down my torso and straight I chopped it last summer. 7 years of growing my hair. My last hurrah before I go bald.
My opinion doesn't matter because it's your life and hair but I just wanted to say you're beautiful either way but I definitely think you look more amazing without the locks.
Zoe Howard so many people said the same thing. I said she looks better I didn't say everyone with dreads looks better without them so can stop getting mad or being sensitive or whatever your doing
Came across this video on snap and although I liked the end result, you calling them “dreads” was soooo annoying because they aren’t DREADlocs, they are LOCS. I don’t think a lot of people truly understand where that word came from. In the late 19th century warriors who came across people with locs called them dreadful, Hence the term “dreadlocks”
@@___asia i don't give a shit I have dreads too and they created by themselves because I was too lazy to brush my hair ant I will continue wearing them
I think that if you have dreads, it would probably break your hair. It's meant for more thicker hair. I'm not saying you can't wear it, buuuuuutttt you really shouldn't if you want healthier hair. Plus your natural hair looks good
Naia Meyers the information you're spreading makes my day less enjoyable. 75 likes? Wtf locks or not, the hair on our head are dead cells. It looking healthy and "being" healthy are completely subjective
Right cus when u want to start dreads it's twisted and as new growth come u twist that new growth. There's a lot of videos of ppl combing their dreads (black ppl) and have long healthy hair than thin damage hair.
Hola Renèe combing new growth and then twisting is why most people have thin noodle dreads and that's why a dread will fall out from time to time. If you're not freeforming, I dont know why
helpful, thank you!!! I don't have dreds, but I have the same type of hair as you and I have a huge extremely dense set of knots - I'm trying this tonight. Blessings!
Hey, just wanna say you totally rocked the dreadlocks, and your natural hair looks totally awesome too. You are a very good looking person, no matter the hair style
these are not dreads. you can brush dreads out. that is called matted hair and is disgusting. white people cannot have dreads unless they have the hair texture of black people
you're disgusting let people live their lives maybe then you won't be so hateful as to try and tell people they can't do something because of their skin color
Sonic Neverslow it's not their skin color, it's literally how their hair is. Black people more often than not have a hair texture that can be put into dreadlocks. When black have dreads they can be washed, and brushed out.
Sugar Doll exactly. You can comb it out and put it back same day, she couldn't do that because it was a tangled mess not dreads. White people always tryna act like they are being oppressed. Uhm you legit can't have this hairstyle it wasn't made for them but yet they can't see that. The only time a white person can actually have locks is if they have hair that mimics black people's hair. Course and thick and kinky not this.
Ayy bumpin that Sam Gellaitry, i see you! This was an awesome video. Reminds me of the good times that I had when I had dreadlocks. So I understand the feeling of having to let them go
Yunki Unicorn the reason why so much hair comes out is because during the day, hairs fall out of our head naturally. With dreads the hair falls out but stays stuck in the dread
Hope Juscenko Oh I’m so so sorry if that sounded rude. It wasn’t pointed in a cruel way. It just sounds like the thing in movies and a dead person I watching over the people they love and is saying, “You only have one life, use it wisely”
i’ve watched this video a million times... but the comment section thoooo🤦🏽♀️ me personally, i think u look beautiful and dope with and without the dreads👌🏽💖 keep doin ya thing gurl!🥰
I took my dreads out October 1st 2016! after having them for 3 years too! and I too LOOOOVED having them, but after finding myself unemployed, I'd go job hunting and when I would ask people if they were hiring, they'd look at me, then my nose ring, my gauges, then my dreads and say no. It was a REAL SHAME people judge people on the way they look... I brushed them out too. I used detangler, deep conditioner and a some fine tooth combs. I got a TOOOOOON of hair that 'fell' out. I did lose a lot of volume when I first brushed them out, but after a year, it's back to it's full volume! I would like to go back to having dreads, but until I get into a career, I'll just keep dreaming. lol but you look SUPER CUTE with your hair now!
AG_DOLL_Cookie i knew about and saw dreadlocks before I knew that BLACK AND WHITE PEOPLE EVEN EXISTED. I used to live in South Asia and I didn’t even know america or Africa existed !
Dreads have been used in many cultures, regardless of color. Celtic and Nordic peoples put their hair in dreads, and not every predominantly black culture valued dreads. Plus, dreadlocks naturally form in the hair (any hair of any race) if left uncombed. It’s not a race thing.
Thank you for posting this! I've really wanted to start doing my hair like vikings, but my hair is incredibly long (to my butt) and I was worried that I would have to cut them out when I wanted to remove them. This helped me with doing some research, so thank you again!
I've never had dreads, but have had some badly matted hair a few times. Just some thoughts, things that worked for me. She should try using a ton of coconut oil and the steel/metal end of a fine tooth comb to gently poke through some of the matting. Then gently comb through with a fine tooth comb that isn't metal. I would think that metal comb would be very hard on baby fine hair and cause more breakage. There would still be hair loss/breakage, but probably not nearly as much. Using coconut oil with the detangler or alone would help to prevent less breakage too.
I've also brushed out my dreadlocks 4 months ago (after 3 years too !), and watching your video reminds me of this adventure ! My boyfriend helped me, we needed a lot of patience to finish the work. It tooks me one week, I had 36 dreadlocks on my head. It is amazing to take your first shampoo after that, you can pass your fingers through your hair which is amazing ! Hope you like your new hair. For me, it was a great thing to do.
You look pretty either way! I had dreads 3 times in my teen years and ended up having to give myself a pixie cut lol. I didn’t have the patience you did 😬
