This is a very helpful video!! You did what many others didn’t do, broke it down thoroughly and describe your materia setup. My weapon level is 8 on every character, and was able to obtain Genji Gloves by beating classified enemies in hard mode. Was able to max out all my materia too. Gilgamesh and Virtual Sephiroth gave me huge problems. Gilgamesh is so random and Sephiroth shadowy chains quickly, killing my runs. Pin your setup for the others to see.
@@Primizzle happy to hear the vid is helpful. Ive also pinned the build. Yeah Gilgamesh is pretty random, but i find the way this vid did it is quite consistent. As for Seph, need Cloud to start Thundaga asap.
@@phrz-RNG can be unforgiving. Have to see which attack Gilgamesh does first. I’ve been seeing other vids using Hermes Shoes than Speed Demon keychain to get haste from the start on Yuffie
@@Primizzle Indeed RNG is a prob. Wish you goodluck for your run. Yeah I saw some builds using Hermes Shoes, but if not mistaken that is used so that Cloud could cast Faith instead of Haste to deal more damage. Speedrunners seems to use this method.

I just beat this challenge awhile ago and my stress level was through the roof. Haha! It took me months but I finally finished it. I'm never doing this again. 😅
I got this challenge done a few days ago and the strat I used is pretty similar except I had Barret in instead of Cloud just for survivability bc I didn’t know how to avoid Virtual Sephiroth’s Shadowy Chains. All I had to do was precision block it
Yeah because Barret doesnt come close at all and can dodge any bs from sephiroth. But using cloud makes it faster though. On my first kill I got 2 members killed but its very easy to recover as long as you can dodge chains via normal or pause because sephiroth does weak melee anyway and that can be regened.
@@jendlti Yea, my take with Barret instead of Cloud was done with the in game timer being around 9 minutes and 30 seconds. I didn’t know if there’s other ways to dodge Virtual Sephirtoh’s Shadowy Chains (besides relying on Precision Defense Materia).
@Jet-1576 yeah using Barret is a good choice as well as you mentioned for survivability. I'd go with Cloud because of his magic damage output. Also, interupting Seph Shadowy Chains with Cloud yelling BAM! Is pretty funny ngl.

@@Jet-1576 i actually used elemental fire on armor when i first try this challenge. But then swapped to HP Absorption since we are spamming them -aga spells. Both work just fine, upto preferences :)
Update: I finally beat this!! Took me 3:36. I went with the Hermes Shoes on Yuffie so she can be hasted right away. I put Magnify+Healing on Cloud. Put Magnify+Fire on Aerith. Didn’t use Auto-Wep ability but kept Auto-Unique on Aerith, so important. And put vitality up x 2 and spirit up x 2, ATB Assist and Time on Yuffie so she can be re-hasted. I didn’t use Ice on Yuffie, a Ward Blizzaga and Thundaga can kill Phoenix just enough quickly. Started with Yuffie > Aerith > Cloud. The rest of the rounds are fine. Gilgamesh started with Daemon Wave so I Brumal Form it and ATB Ward under her and got the combo going. For Sephiroth, got Yuffie to Brumal Form his attacks and got the ATB Ward on her, got Cloud starting the combo, he didn’t get to Shadowy Chain anybody! He did change his affinity to fire tho
@@phrz- I was at Level 8 1/2 with each character. Didn’t use any HP Absorbs, but I had Elemental+Fire on each. I equiped Crescent Sickle on Yuffie with Opening ATB, Shuriken Mastery, and ATB Charge Rate Up. At times I had to use ATB Boost with her to stay near 2 ATB during the haste
@@phrz- He was always very agro on Yuffie. She would either die from taking too many hits or shadowy chained. I came to the conclusion that I would need to perfect block some of his attacks. I was never able to get off even one magic spell. So frustrating. I took a break from this challenge to work on the solo battles.
@@jazzy_bella thats odd. Is your party order same like this vid? Seps opening attack would have been on the 1st point character, his following attack would be on yuffie since we have swapped. By the time he attack yuffie, cloud should have 2 atb already.
@@phrz- after taking a break from this challenge, I finally did it! I think swapping character order helped and I put swift cast on Cloud instead of Aerith so I was able to stun lock him quickly. Thank you!
This doesn't work for me, Phoenix is unvulnerable prior to casting rebirth flame (whatever it's called). I have to skip hp absorption and use Elemental + fire on the armour on cloud and Aerith aswell
Did u have mp absorption linked to lightning and fire for both cloud and aerith? I saw in the video, each time magic comea out, mp got restored. Hp got restored too. So there HP absorption as well.
@@lee_vi_3947 ic, ideally the atb gained for cloud and aerith by yuffie is very fast that when they finish casting their current magic, another set of magic will be casted without them moving out of the ward.

Ohhhhhhh, so THAT's how Aerith doesn't take an HOUR to build a millimetre of ATB... I appreciate and applaud the ingenuity, but now I hate this battle even more. Well, along some other of the 'chAlLENge baTTLeS'. It's like the game punishes you if you want to play it straight, and rewards literal button-mashing and having Yuffie senselessly spazzing around. It's a total immersion-killer for me. But oh well, it's called 'knowing and exploiting the game mechanics', the platinum trophy is a 'take it or leave' type of deal, so instead of whinging and whining, I instead thank you for the nicely edited, detailed guide that might finally enable me to beat this POS fight without getting steamrolled by Gilgamesh everytime. If the game cheeses me, I can as well cheese it back. You know, it all wouldn't be so infuriating if you were allowed to practice the individual fights. Like, go straight to Gilgamesh, with the fight ending after you beat him or he you, so you still have to survive all five fights back to back to get the trophy and the reward. That way, you could truly try out things without wasting time and concentration on the previous fights. Just one bit of constructive critcism ... it might be wise to mute the character voices anytime you use such a spammy approach for a video -- to be honest, I don't know how you didn't get crazy from the Yuffie noises xD

I know mate, it’s just 50/50 chance if the A.i is slower then you are Played it twice this morning and first try , got sephiroth down to inch of life then he went ape sh*t on me, 2nd try, he shadow chained me straight away, so that was game over, hope chadley ain’t in part 3 lol
Been at it since Tuesday lol, maybe should of maxed out material and got the genji gloves , but none of that matters for stage 5 I don’t think, cheers again
