Want to SCALE your business? Go here: acquisition.com
Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

best thing to take away from this: put in the work above everything. wake up and put in the work. When you can get yourself to do work in leu of anything else, you won't have time to put labels on yourself, nor the time to listen to others opinions about you. You will eventually have a skillset to create a magnificent product, and you will be good enough to find and attract a group of people who will help further your growth and provide you with the right environment.

Morning routines can be a powerful tool for achieving your goals if they are built correctly. However, if you spend three hours grounding yourself, writing in your gratitude journal, and listing your to-dos without realizing that something is wrong, then you’re the problem, not the concept of a morning routine.

I love this point about 'finding your passion' - it is the equivalent of being in the middle of the ocean and telling someone to find land. The only viable option is to swim. Action leads to discovery instead of waiting for some lightbulb moment. I discussed this concept further in one of my recent videos and I think so many people struggle with this.

At the end of the day, the owner wanted to pay me for my time as my first day, I refused for today. I told to myself, “If I accept the payment, my mind will automatically turn into earning mode rather than learning mode”. I’m glad I made that decision!

After Leila shared her day routine. I noticed that I don't use time like she does. I know that There are different energy levels of times of the day and so different times have different value. She said that she does work from 3 or 4 am as she wakes up and watchs RU-vid at 20:00, when she gets tiered. So i took from it the idea. Before that on few occasions i had that I woke up at about 4:00 a.m and I did then my best effective work. But usually when I woke up too early i used to go I back to sleep. So Recently I decided to use it and if i wake up at about 3 or 4 a.m as I wake up naturaly and do the most important thing, And not watching RU-vid at morning. Rather do it at evening. It works for me. It is better time allocation.

Need HD signal without cable so I bought someone's old HD TV. Right now I can see it on my floor in a corner. Last time I used it was about 3 years ago when she wanted to watch NYE festivities. The point: Focus Focus Focus and you wont miss any of that crap. I'm over 60 now and more lazy and that's not good for me. I have enough money but my happiness is from a full day of work. Thank you for your brutal honesty. I have one comment... I didn't buy your first book, then your second book. One of your affiliates sent me your launch link (I'd never heard about you). I then bought your 2nd book, had to cancel the order due to taking our own steps toward owning the life we want (we're grandparents now), and then bought both books through Amazon because they could deliver them the next day. I lugged those "damn" books with me for 6 months and gawd-knows how many miles before I sent them "home," along with half my clothes and a shit load of other things that I really didn't want to lug across the world with me. We're in Chile ATM, leaving for Patagonia on Wednesday, and I will still watch your videos, so please keep them coming. I'm 99% of the way to finishing my book - stuck on the damn citations, which bore me to tears - but interestingly, we share many of the same ideas for non-conformity, business and marketing. When I get back to Canada after a few more stops to live life on our terms, I'll dive into them (by then, my book better be on Amazon!)

Agreed on the first point. I do not do it personally, but if someone jumps into an ice bath right after they wake up and they can TRULY get more done in their work that morning I am all for it for that person. For example, if they wake up and feel extremely tired (fix your sleep) and the first 20 minutes of their work sucks, BUT if they jump into a cold tub for 30 seconds and dry off (total less than 5 minutes), They sit down and their work is INSTANTLY better. Boom you just added 15 minutes of SOLID work. Again, I do not experience this with cold plunges, etc. But I can see how in a situation it would work.

For me, a point in my life where I was labelled as something e.g. a hothead in an environment where it was perpetuated at a consistent rate e.g. your parents, family and old friends whom you spent most of your early years with makes me relive those emotions. In my work environment and in my personal life I have never been labelled as a hothead however when I visit my family and old friends those cyclic loops of emotion are brought up again and show up in conversation. This is a guess idk if that's Alex's actual situation, being short tempered or a hothead isn't really a character trait unless you have something like bipolar its a combination of multiple different factors/influences. He may seem 'short tempered' just thinking about his past and some would say he is but I'm pretty sure anyone would be pissed of by not being able to outgrow something socially in your old circles that you have personally completely triumphed over. I like writing about this stuff even though it might not be important to type this out sometimes it give me new perspectives.
@Asura6969
@Asura6969 8 месяцев назад
It was funny and did come of as slightly hypercritical but I think it's a definitions game at the end of the day, which is why labels are shit. You might temporarily be what someone says you are but people change, not just over long periods of time but they're more complex than a label. Which I think is a pretty great reason to throw labels in a dumpster and light em up.

When you've overcome the hardest challenge of the day in the morning (whether it is a workout, studying, a building a project, etc.), you've now gained confidence. You're far more powerful because of the triumph that comes with overcoming the greatest challenge early on in the day. Everything afterwards feels far less challenging. When I wake in the morning, I go on my run. Why? Because I know about the "law of diminishing intent"...when I have an idea I take action right then and there, when the emotion is intense and the motivation is strong. Do it NOW! Stop thinking about it! Organize your tasks from hardest to easiest, and take down the hardest ones first! The momentum and confidence you gain after it's all over are insurmountable.

I love the identity protection and shifting at the end of the video. So much of the video explored the question of why was Alex successful, and in my opinion, shifting to an identity that serves him and protecting it is the best answer to that question.

The example with the book is really interesting... He says it's the quality of the product that made it sell, but I think the quality had more to do with it continuing to do well. Digging into it a little more, 1) Alex created a BRAND- himself 2) Made a single post about it (Marketing) - These two branches initiated the sales in a massive way. And then good product and brand worked together to continue to make his book a best seller! Really interesting concept of using the product as a brand strengthener and people who enjoy it and your brand as marketing. Stacking functions. Congrats Alex, thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas with us.

Thought provoking stuff, thank you. I understand the ‘build a great product’ piece, but how does your view on the 1000, 2000+ hours and working for much longer on building a great product sit with the idea of launching fast with ‘MVP’ etc to iterate and improve fast that way?

My advice to you: Level Up. Once you level up its Morning Routine again (full circle). We know that doing the thing gets the job done. So do the thing. If you do not have a routine with the things that get the job done you are living under your potential. Its not about money or health (on top level we have that). Its about living ones full potential and is doing "the thing" every time, preferably in the same order, dedicating every minute and breath to your craft.

It all comes down to ONE thing and ONE thing only : How long can you endure the pain the adversity the agony the failure the publicly being ashamed .. If you don't get a pay-check and if your business wasn't handed by your parents to you, if you started it to quit your 9-5 job, whether or not you will eventually make it will come down to ONE thing, which is your tolerance for long term pain..

Thanks for the advice. How do you know if,when you entered race, you got on the wrong horse? Eg buying a long-term existing business only to find out that you may have already reached saturation point for your main product and government has passed legislation potentially not viable in 5 to 7 years.

Morning routine is originally a military thing. Get up, make your bed, brush and shave, exercise, shower, breakfast, get dressed for work. Then work. Purpose is to get done with all mundane shit so that the next 14+ hours can be spent working. WORKING. It also has the added effect (which most don’t exploit when they’re younger) of making it a lot easier to stay sober by going to bed early. Again, so you can spend that time WORKING rather than being hung over.
@kacem3167
@kacem3167 8 месяцев назад
Focus on what he said right here: "I'm not against doing things, I'm against doing things for the sake of doing them." If you're doing your morning routine because everybody else is doing it, this video is speaking to you But if you're anything like me, Late 30s, or 40s. You need that sh*t to survive. You need the walk, the workout in the morning to be able to function. You need to eat a healthy meal to function. You need to write / journal to make your own therapy because at that age you'd probably be dealing with a lot of shit tons of responsabilites. Love Alex, but please don't just take this advice blindly. Morning or night or any kind of routines kind work for some. Alex's way of working in the morning is in a way his morning routine. What he's not telling you is he also take breaks with his wife to go for walks after. What he's not telling you is that he works out everyday and eat so fkn healthy, I mean look at him. So yeah. Be mindful.
