I like how you genuinely like driving the cars and get exited, unlike others that obviously fake there smiles and excitement Looking forward to a lot more cars 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I would just like to thank Lee for Looking after my pride and joy. I would trust him in my car again. And I massive thanks for all the kind comments about my car. I'm buzzing it didn't have to many "Nah lads" points.haha. I have watched thus vid now about 12 times now.hahahah. I did a review of my own car as well which I will put a link to after this comment. Peace kind folks..😁😁
The meth sprays as soon as the boost is above around 16psi on this MPS (as early as 3000rpm). The kick you feel around 4500rpm is the extra ignition timing that we have been able to add in due to the methanol injection. Unfortunately, due to the weak MPS rods, we cannot increase torque any more between 3000-4500rpm. If this car had a forged engine then we could throw everything at it haha.
@@gavster023 I'm at 390whp (which is about 445bhp) on my 2010 Speed3, also with a BNR S3 setup, pushing ~24.5psi just fine. The limit of the stock rods isn't best conceived in terms of psi or even hp, but as a function of torque. A few reasons why: -20psi on a BNR S3 is far different than 20psi on, say, a GTX3586r, or even 20psi on the stock K04 that Speeds come with, and the reason is simple - larger turbos flow far more air at the same boost pressure than smaller ones do. -Cylinder pressure is one of two major concerns regarding the stock rods' ability to handle power; the other is at what engine speed the load occurs. The reason for this is simple (without getting into the complex physics at play) - xxx torque at, say 4,500 rpms, is much easier on the rods in terms of the forces they see compared to the same xxx torque at, say, 2,500 rpms. -On the 2.3 MZR DISI Turbo (Mazdaspeed 3/6 engine), the practical wisdom of this very highly vetted platform is to stay 4,500 or so rpms, and to have that wtq level build up slowly/progressively instead of spiking suddenly. This is how you keep the engine together long-term. I'm at 390whp @ ~6k and 380wtq @ ~4.5k, tuned by one of the best in the world - Justin from FREEKTUNE. My tune is intentionally neutered down low according to the torque-management scheme I just outlined. This is the proven, practical wisdom of this platform in action. So there's really no simple answer to your boost-based question, but I've given you all of the info you'd need to know to form a good starting point of understanding the potential of a stock block on this platform.
Numinous knows his shit. I am tuned by Justin at Freektune on e33 and BNRS3 and been on it for 4 years now. Had my car since 2007 from new. I will probably go bulit motor next.
You should mention things like running costs especially for cars like this. Insurance group, road tax and real world fuel economy etc:) it would be nice to know a few more facts about the cars, really loving these videos though!
Things like this are easy to find yourself on autotrader and other websites. Great video. See if you can find a mk2 mps to review and see if there are any differences between them maybe?
Much improved video mate and you have taken people's views on board that will defiantly make the channel grow. Was never a fan of the way these looked we had one as pool car at work a diesel engine one but it was quick. Credit to the owner alot of hard graft gone into that.
I owned one for 4 years, fully bolted on the stock KO4 turbo (Approximately 320bhp and 345lb-ft) I enjoyed it a lot. But at any point the MZR can go bang... The internals are made of fucking monkey metal, even with perfect maintenance the MPS can fuck you over. However for the money, you just can't compete with the 3 and 6 MPS. The map wasn't downloaded via the internet, they're live road mapped through the Cobb accessport. Justin Heath (J-tune) is the man who tunes most of the MPS' on the road and he's brilliant.
Ace video man! Loving these review type format videos you've started doing. A much more balanced view on the cars unlike some other RU-vidrs... *Cough* FYD *cough* 😂 Keep up the great content dude!!
Loving all the vids recently especially these , such a small thing but maybe keep the amount of points up at all times on the screen? Just think it would make the vid that much better , keep the quality vids coming lad
keep the vids up lee, loving the reviews, best ones ive seen in a while. Drop the fyd hatred, your both youtubers with differnt views on what works. The car community gets enough divide without making more people hate other people for what they do within the car community.
Here in the U.S. is called the MS3 Mazda speed 3. This is the 1st gen MPS. This model is the MPS GT which is the higher end version with all additional options. Because of the amount of power and torque he's having that stear movement.
Now I really miss my Mk1 facelift in Pearl White! If you owned one though a Nahlad point is the fear of hearing the chain chatter haha awesome vid mate
The king of dirty the south bro its commonly referred to as ZZB (Zoom Zoom Boom). Basically the cars are driven by a drive chain instead of belt and they often can become starved of oil leading to failure i.e new engine! If you start an MPS (2.3 turbo) and hear a loud chain, avoid it or get ready to rebuild the engine!
Wait till I engine swap my metro 👌 1.8vvc 160bhp in a car that weighs 870kg is insane 👌 even tho the engine I have in it now makes around 110bhp from a 1.4 but it’s all about the fun and the people looking at it 👌
Cliffs 3MPS is an amazing example on the OC, and his Tuner Justin Heath is genuinely a wizard with these cars. I used to have have a mkii with the BNR S3 and absolutely loved it as well. great review. Subbed.
Yeah the Mazda 3 went under the radar in this shape. They tried to make it more aggressive in the next model mps with the big bonnet vent and spoiler etc.
It's all about the tune. 400whp is the estimated limit for this car, and to sustain that power, the boost has to be lowered at the low RPM's to avoid bending the stock rod connecting the piston and crank together.
Water meth injection, is mainly used too keep egt ( exhaust gas temperature) down, as it would be immensely high as your dumping that mush fuel in the exhaust can’t cope and then does damage to the engine,
SonarCreep is it like e85 ? 104 octane, for perfect detonation? The torque steer reminds me of my old escort RS turbo, that was only 193bhp at the wheels, lovely motor by the way, must of cost you a bomb
Id be happy for Lee to take mine out for a review but the car just isnt ready at the moment... fresh Forged engine has literally just been run in and is being tuned as we speak, once thats done i have a meth kit to install and then tune that in also... after that who knows, maybe Lee would like to give a high powered 6 a try, AWD in the 6’s too so no torque steer lol ;)
That ping sounds tons better mate! You should get yourself a dedicated mic that you can strap on yourself to better your audio recordings. Will drown out a lot of the ambient car noises that drowns out your talking. Also, you spelt overall wrong. Sick video though! That Mazda is mental!
Probably making close to 380whp and wtq but nice... also you don’t feel the meth kick in.. what you feel is the turbo spooling maybe a quarter of a second after you floor the throttle... meth is there you raise the octane so you can add more boost/timing... like using e85 or c16... car looks good though..
I know what you meen about the meth mate. Best way to describe it is midway through the turbo already being spooled, you get an old school B18 style VTEC kick in the middle of it.
Oh yeah the Eonon radio is aftermarket... Basically an android tablet so you can do anything u want on it. They are really good. Bit harsh to get a nahlad point for that.
Are you THE Justin from J-Tune? If you are you’re a bit of a celebrity in the mps world lol. I’ve had guys tell me you’re the only one to trust to map mps’s. Where are you based? I’ve got a 6mps I want to get mapped soon. Can’t seem to find you on the internet.
