Brute Force 300 | Trail Riding | Peters Mill Run & Taskers Gap

This is a 1st person view of me riding the Kawasaki Brute Force 300 at Taskers Gap and Peters Mill Run OHV area in the Lee Ranger District at the George Washington National Forest (that's a mouthful). The only mods I have are the Ricochet Off Road skid plates which are VERY important for these rocky trails. I just want to show how capable this little 2wd entry level atv can be. This is a great place to off road a truck or atv. It costs $5 a day or $30 a year.

Thanks! Loved watching this. I just got myself a 2012 "Red Betty" changing tires to itp mudlights AT. I love to ride; just wish that there were more trails here, and more people to ride with.

Great Trail system, I have been up there two times. The first time I went I took my older Kawasaki Bayou 250 and it did just fine, I enjoy that trail system. Thanks for sharing and if anyone else is wondering you DO NOT need an 11,000$ four wheeler to go out and have an awesome time! Thanks for sharing!

There will always be those people who could only justify buying the most expensive and highest horsepower machine out there. Anything less is for little wimps. I don't go riding with them

It's holding up incredibly well. As long as your expectations are realistic, I don't see why you couldn't be happy with this sweet little machine. I've had mine a year and now have over 500 mi on it and everything's holding up very well.

We were up there today and MAN there are rocks everywhere. So bumpy, almost no dirt just rocks rocks rocks everywhere. We were on 443 and then turned around and went on 493 parallel to the forest road 374... and while 493 started out nice with actual dirt, it didn't take long to get to rocks, and then BIG rocks. Are there any trails up in this system other than the forest road that are more dirt with less rocks? Very new to that area so we're trying to find a smoother trail. Appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!

Unfortunately tasker's Gap is pretty Rocky all around. The main Jeep trails there are not too bad but you'd have to go to a place like Hatfield McCoy to get proper wide open dirt trails.

South pedlar is not bad. It’s near where the blue ridge pkwy and James River meet.

The mirrors inside the handguards are okay, but the other Kolpin mirror that bolts to the front rack is much better.

How do you think it would handle plowing a driveway? Skeptical with the 2wd
@ThomperBeThompin
@ThomperBeThompin Год назад
It has surprisingly good power with low gear. Might want to add a little extra weight on the rear racks to help with traction which will probably be your limiting factor. I'm sure it could handle most regular snowfalls, but once it gets deep and heavy it's probably going to struggle

Can you put bigger tires on these 300 atvs?
@steeltube195

You can go 24" and no problems... I did. I think you can even try 25". But forget about fuel economy.
@Techprep23

I know I'm probably 2 years too late but I drive a 2002 Yamaha Bear tracker. The rear tire size according to the book is 22 x10-10. 22-in tire 10-in wide tread on a 10-in rim I'm currently running 25x11-10. You will lose top end speed because that 250cc motor technically a 229cc tops out at about 45 and I only get 35 mph and that is with a completely rebuilt motor so everything is brand new running. And the tires are also Maxxis mud bug tires so they have the giant rubber fins on them as tire tread great for mudding but a 250 ain't going to push through much mud but where I live they do come in handy when the ground's a little soggy after a good rain storm cuz we've got that hard pan dirt and the water doesn't absorb very well so the top layer gets mushy. Drop it in 2nd. And punch it she'll go I love that damn thing.

What trail has the lookout that you walked to?
@ThomperBeThompin
@ThomperBeThompin 2 года назад
It's on the peters Mills run side. The trail is on the east side of the primary trail. It's pretty early on if you're traveling from south to North and hard to miss.

Thanks. So either trail 457 or 474 according to the pdf download map?
@ThomperBeThompin
@ThomperBeThompin 2 года назад
@@pinetag14 my bad, the trail you get to this lookout is not an official trail number. It's more of a hiking trail. You can see where ATVs offshoot to the east, then you park and hike about 20 yards up these boulders to the lookout. It's really simple but tough to explain.
