Bryan Adams was at the peak of his success with this song “Everything I Do, I Do it For You “. From the Kevin Costner movie soundtrack Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. The song is probably the best thing about the movie. Costner was a serious mis-cast. Bryan was one of those artists from the 1980’s whose music had a real rock 🪨 feel. But when the Grunge music scene began in the early nineties with bands like Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth, Soundgarden, and of cause Nirvana. He wasn’t getting heard on radio. And in those days radio was king, if you didn’t get radio play. You didn’t get heard. So he went to the next big thing, movie soundtracks. Everyone used to go to movies back in those days. Even line up to see the latest blockbuster movie from Hollywood at their local multiplex cinema 🎦. So movie soundtracks became famous and Bryan Adams was able to have another mega hit with this song.

From the very beginning Adams latched onto the most underrated guitarist, Keith Scott. Nothing flashy, but everything is played with true felt heart and soul.

Went to a Bryan Sdams concert in Vienna some 10 years ago: he performed 2 hours, had fun and the crowd knew all the lyrics of the songs (including me, even though I was not a hardcore fan). But he had so many hits and I just happened to know all the lyrics (for whatever reason). It was a great evening. Bryan Adams is an underrated artist.

Love the comment not a single phone, we didn't have phones and I'm thankful. Such great music back then. From Massachusetts and remember hearing Aerosmith playing at the Westboro Speedway from my house Aerosmith was from Mass and this was before they became big. Saw Bob Seger, Springsteen, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Tom Petty, ZZ Top, Allman Brothers, Outlaws (sweatbox Cap Cod Coliseum), Bryan Adams, Jimmy Buffett, and so much more. Don't like being older but wouldn't trade it for anything.

Bryan Adams is one of the greats, he gave us so many fabulous songs. Millie, I'm also a bassist and you're right, this one has a really sweet bass line. Another great "bass song" that I would turn you on to is John Mellencamp's cover of "WILD NIGHT" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1nPPRQeTxTY.html. So good, it's hard to listen to it without holding your bass. And yes, we old timers know now just how blessed we were. If I ever get a time machine, I'll look you up and take you back for a tour of the good ol' days. Until then, we have the videos, right? ;)

There's a good RU-vid video by music industry insider Rick Beato ( as a musician I recommend you subscribe to his channel) who tries to explain the differences in making music then and now. The creative process has been cheapened by technology, almost anyone with a laptop can create a song, it's more of a producer driven industry rather than artist driven. You go out and get 37 people to co-write your music then hire the best producer you can afford to cobble everything together with the vocal track the artist provided, it's obviously an over simplification of the process, but the basic premise is spot on.
