@@eamonstafford2056 That's true I forgot about Mike Campbell. These guys are the type of guitarists that stand in the background for the most part. They have great all around chops- great rhythm and they come up with memorable melodic solos and riffs. They are not flashy but always get the job done and to them serving the song is the most important thing!

@@ricomajestic Yes that's true. Its not an offense to miss one really. Gosh there are so many out there. I was also going to add Eric Schenkman as another too. Its all very subjective and how we all perceive the music industry. Most of the good front men have great guitarists. Keith Scott backing Bryan Adams too. The list is a long one. You are 100% right.

Before ANYONE criticizes the " shred " style players ( or the lack of press for Keith ), take note: In 1987, while promoting Sammy Hagar's " I Never Said Goodbye " for Guitar Player Magazine, Eddie Van Halen HIMSELF said Keith was one of his favorite musicians. If Keith was great for Eddie, then YOU should be listening to Keith too.

First time in my life hearing an interview with Kieth Scott! He came off as humble and great as I could have hoped. This is one of the most rock solid guitarists out there. But also it sounds like one of the loyalist. Taking nothing away from Bryan, it is possible that Bryan wouldn't be quite the star without Keith supporting him all these years. Thank you so much for this enlightening interview from a great!

You’re right - I had an honour to meet him and Bryan by chance many years ago and Keith was so humble and nice. After the concert, we were passing by a hotel they stayed in and we spotted Keith siting in the bar there and he was so nice that he let us in and chatted to us. He was genuinely interested in our conversation and never acted like a “big star” that he is. And same goes for Bryan. I’ve been a huge fan of them and never seen an interview with Keith, too. So thanks for this 👍🏻

I saw the Reckless tour. Incredible set. If I had one wish....it would be to take you all back to the 80s. The talent we witnessed was incalculable. I took it for granted. The radio played almost no junk or fillers, it was awesome. Bands were grouped largely into two camps: those with guitar shredders-gods, and those that were melodic. The shredders got all the glory (EVH, Angus, Lynch, and a hundred others).....they were household names. The melodics not so much. Schon (a melodic shredder) was the only exception that I recall. But their perfect (for the song) riffs are genius, even more skill than simply blazing along the fret in my view. Keith was not a household name, but for serious consumers of 80s music, he should be. Those perfect riffs, that perfect tone, those perfect songs.......what a gift to us all!!!
@YAMISOOLD2009
@YAMISOOLD2009 2 года назад
Its noteworthy I think that the shredders, though impressive, have largely been dated to a time and place where their type of virtuosity and showman ship was in fashion. But the melodic guitar players who placed perfectly written solos and riffs into great songs sound timeless. And this bit of wisdom is lost on many fans of certain shredders or guitar gods. For some listeners it will always be about their hero and how many notes he played. But for the general rock or music lover, the melodic line, no matter how complicated or simple, is the clear favorite.

Reckless defined the sound of 80s arena rock sound with huge drums sound along with outstanding layered guitar sound including the solos. That was bryan' s signature sound and will always be his prime era. Most of the acts in that time try to sound like it. This along with cuts like a knife, into the fire, waking up the neighbours, 18 till I die and on a day like today are my all time favorites. Keith Scott is one of the most skilled and outstanding guitarist of all time. His solos in Native Son and WUTN are amazing. Interestingly most of of the songs in Adrenalize sound like rejected bryan and mutt ideas for Waking Up The neighbours. In others words Adrenalize sounds like Waking Up The Neighbours Volume 2.

The show in Le Zenith in 2005 or 2006 blew me away in terms of performace, vocal/guitar sounds and absolutely the best FOH sound engineer in the world delivering perfect sound regardless of venue. I've been to thousands shows, played hundreds by myself, their sound is another level of live performance. It's just TOP. I always dreamed of Bryan calling me and doing that "you got an old P-bass, old Ampeg, love rocknroll - so you're in" - had few dreams like these, really.. I'm 39, rockin' in few bands but those dreams still come! Keith you're the man. Can't wait to see a show in 2023. And play some bass! ;)
