Bryan Adams has sold over 100 million albums worldwide making him one of the highest selling Canadian musicians of all time. He has had 25 top 15 singles in Canada alone (12 in the US) and has won 20 Juno awards and 1 Grammy. He has been nominated for 3 academy awards, 5 Golden Globes and 15 Grammy Awards.
Bryan Adams is highly underrated. Another fun one to cover is the Three Musketeers “All For Love”. You’ve got Sting, Rod Stewart, and Adams doing a 90s rock ballad for a solid Disney movie.
Which when I was working in Top40 radio, was a NIGHTMARE as you had 2 Bryan Adam’s songs, 2 Sting songs & 2 Rod Stewart songs along with 2 Mariah Carey songs testing in the top 10 most popular to try and schedule in...(let alone the lesser hits from Rod/Bryan & Sting of that timeframe or their previous hits).
Really? I always thought he was massively overrated. As a musician I've had to play this song too many times and, frankly, audiences don't really respond to it the way guitar players expect them to. I've fortunately been able to avoid playing any of his other songs. This one has cheesy nostalgia going for it, though. You gotta give it that.
Never heard of Bryan Adams? Damn! A Canadian Treasure, one of our greatest songwriters, there's a helluva rabbit hole here, if you so wish. I hope you take it, he has so many great songs!
@@jeremydanchuk1897 Ya Stomping Tom lol. First show i took my daughter too see when she was about 4 or 5 at the Tulip Festival in Ottawa. Headstones opened. It was funny because the crowd was full of families because the festival is a family thing and there is Hugh Dillon singer for The Headstones throwing f bombs all over the place and spitting in to the crowd. Remember my daughter asking daddy did he just spit on the people. I said yep and she asked why. I had no answer so i said well thats rock and roll baby. The look was hilarious but she got the rock bug so all was good. Her fave is Our Lady Peace so not all bad. Canadian music is great. I grew up in the 70s so saw them all multiple times Rush April Wine Frank Marino 54 40 etc great times.
Being a Canadian kid raised in the 80's this was the soundtrack of my teenage years. So many nights of hanging out, drinking behind the post office of my tiny little town, and falling in love and breaking up. No cellphones and just endless summers.
That song alone bought his villa in Jamaica! He was a brilliant businessman and kept all the publishing rights to that song in lieu of more money up front.
@@grannyh1143 They were both recording in the '80's, Seger's 'Like A Rock' was released just one year later that 'Summer of 69'. I like Bryan Adams caught his show in England back around 2000 and really enjoyed it but it is my opinion that Bob Seger stands head and shoulders above just about everybody I've heard but hey that's just my opinion. Like you I also have a top 3, apart from Bob my other 2 favourite singer/songwriters are Jackson Browne and Mickey Newbury.
As the song fades out he snuck in the ad lib 'Me and my baby in 69' on purpose. It was the best cut of the song they had so they kept it bc the double entendre could go either way but the label wasn't amused. LOL Just we are.
he is a Canadian icon, he is so amazing live.so many hits and countless awards . quick story he was the first concert to play in our small town in British Columbia Canada in new 4000 seat arena at his prime , he had just played for the queen of England days before but he has never forgot his roots and where he came from, it ws sold out of course and he was amazing, and actually paved the way for many other big international artists to play there.. respect
Oh wow! That brings back memories. A few years ago he played an open air concert in Hamburg, Germany. It was summer and when he played this song it started raining and we were dancing through the puddles and partying. That was great. I've never been to such a great concert again, I think. What a great musician and guy. Love his mtv unplugged album.
The best concert I've been to was one of Bryans. Had the time of my life! It's often reported that he'd take a train to his concerts and notice how he always just wears jeans and a t-shirt. He wasn't into all those props or costumes, just damn good music!
“Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?” Gorgeous song, makes me cry every time I hear it ♥️ “Everything I Do” is a great song too! This is a pretty deep rabbit hole but so worth it!
He played "Diana" when Prince Charles and Princess Diana attended a concert in Vancouver in the 80s to celebrate Canada Day on July 1st (which was also her birthday)
@@charles2241 Thank you for that. That makes a lot of sense to me now. I always thought she looked familiar, and not just from Bryan Adams music videos.
@@Richard-Bullock Lol, there was a girl I recalled from the old Montgomery Ward catalogs, whom actually ended up being in one of those teenage sex comedy movies, around the time the Mannequin movies came out, and I thought for the longest she might be that same girl. I did find that girl in the catalogs again from a website, and while she is fairly close to Lysette, I'm pretty sure there's enough difference there for it not to be her. I've been looking for ages to find out what movie that girl was in though. I saw that movie she was in when it was released in the eighties, and just completely forgot which movie it was. No title rings a bell, and I keep thinking it was one of the Mannequin movies (but it's not), and she was the main female focus of the movie too. It's too bad I can't at least recall who the main male star was, because he was definitely pretty popular at the time, because then I could narrow down all his movies on IMDB and find her that way. I don't think she was ever in another movie, oddly. BTW, here's the catalog page. It's the fourth picture down, and she's the first and third picture, and maybe the fourth on those pages labelled 106 and 107. I would appreciate if somebody knows the movie she starred in, or her name if failing that: Roller-Disco Jackets & Polyester Slacks: The 1980 Montgomery Ward Catalog - Flashbak Okay, the link don't work, but it can be accessed by copying the entire phrase and putting it into google and clicking on the top result.
Bryan Adams is one of the most successful artists of ALL TIME. Incredible songwriter and one of the greatest live performers ever. His vocals sound identical live as in the studio, which is a sign of a great singer. Best raspy voice rocker ever.
I'm 55 now and so fortunate to grow up listing to 80's music and Bryan Adams was without a doubt one of my favorites. My range was from Easy E, Curtis Blow and Too Short all the way to Journey and the British pop bands and any in between. The sky was the limit to all the excellent music that came from the era.
I saw Bryan Adams open for the Stones in L.A w/ a stand in guitarist (lead guitar player was sick), The Stones had a crappy night and he blew them off the stage. Great songwriter and performer!
Bryan Adams and his band are so underrated! Adams made so much great music in the 80's. He and his excellent band were so amazing. Their concerts were phenomonal.
Jamel, You'll love his “Cuts Like a Knife”, "Straight From The Heart", "Please Forgive Me", "Have You Ever Loved A Woman". 1 Banger, 3 Ballads, all great!
Great number indeed!! This song never, ever fails to put a smile on my face and make me feel good! I have never gotten sick of it, and I've heard it since it first came out in 1984 (my older sister bought this album - it was a constant on her stereo!) Bryan pretty much owned the 80's - especially here in Canada! Early 90's too! Can't go wrong with anything he's done! See my comment on your Heaven reaction for further Adams' tracks to check out! The well is so, SO very deep! Cheers.
Bryan Adams and his songwriting partner Jim Vallance wrote most of Bryan’s Hits. Bryan met Jim while Jim was working with his band Prism. Bryan would write songs for Prism like Jealousy and You Walked Away Again. Prism is an amazing band which I 100% recommend to anyone!
@@4everMirella I agree, its probably in my top 5 of all time. I also love Cheap Trick ‘The Flame’. I’m into different genres of music but I’m just realizing how much I love these love ballads too Lol! 🙌🏻💯✌🏻
Love this song! I turned 18 in summer of '69. No more high school, moon landing, lots of rock&roll at first Atlanta Pop Festival, first weed, young love. Magic time!
I was 15 in the summer of 69. During those years everything seems possible. Then life starts to beat you down. You can't recapture those times but memories keep you going. Everyone should have joyful teenage years.
So funny. I got my first guitar in 1969, and literally played it every chance I got. Years later moved to the west coast, and Bryan was in a band called "Sweeny Tod", and saw him play a few times. Turns out we know some mutual people. I've played my guitar in a working band for 15 years. Best days of my life. My wife knew Jodi as well. Thanks.
This was the theme tune of my final year in high school! It was 1987/8 and the final year students had their own common room complete with a record player and we played this every day! Great memories. We loved Bryan in Ireland!
Bryan Adams what a great Canadian icon, he's a rocker but mostly known for his killer power ballads like "Everything I do I do it for you" or "Heaven".
Had to pause, how can you NOT know Bryan Adams? He’s got sooooo many songs, like It’s Only Love, with the amazing Tina Turner, and Please Forgive Me, Everything I Do..I Do It For You (from Robin Hood with Kevin Costner), Rescue Me, Heaven, Cuts Like a Knife, Run To You, Straight From the Heart, etc I can go on with so many more songs. Bryan Adams is LEGENDARY. My mom saw him in the 80s, I wish I saw him, he’s on my bucket list of concerts to go to 🤘🏽💕
I think you'd probably recognise Everything I Do I Do It For You Was from Robin Hood Prince Of Theives soundtrack and was number 1 in the UK for AGES, be surprised if it wasn't as successful in the States too
He wrote that song in under an hour! Didn't necessarily put a whole lot of thought into it but as Bryan said, it was only meant to be a gushy, romantic ballard without any deep meaning.
One of the great songs of the 1980s. Upbeat, well sung with decent lyrics about events of the past that may get you thinking about your own younger, perhaps better days with some nostalgia.
Bryan Adams was Canada's worst kept secret in the 80s. He was huge. many mega hits, movie soundtracks, worked with some of the music industry's biggest names. I don't think there was a second video to continue this one. Perhaps that was the original plan, but I have never seen one.
Absolutely! You might also like "I'll Always Be Right There", " The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me is You", and his versions of "I Can't Stop Loving You" and "Never My Love". He also has a song with " Bonnie Raitt, "Rock Steady" that shows off his guitar skills.
The summer of 1969 ended with the greatest outdoor concert in history "Woodstock." With the Hippies and Flower Children talking about making love not war. With a man landing and walking on the moon. And the Viet Nam war still going on during the 1960's. 'The generation lost in space'-Don Maclean. Still has made a huge impact on music and world politics today. I was 15 years old back in 1969. Today I am 67 and still enjoy the music of my time and today. Great reaction to a great classic.
@@MamaNaeNae I never knew what it was about way back then, i was just a kid really and Bryan was burning up the airwaves, but yeah great tune for sure, he wrote some pretty amazing songs
Bryan Adams is basically the pinnacle of 'cheesiness/greatness' A lot of pop hits to explore, some greater than others, some cheesier than others, but all of them both at once.
Bryan Adams is my favorite singer and song writer he has lots of great song Part 2 of the music video is Heaven check it out ♥️ Cuts like a knife ,Run to you ... It’s only love with Tina Turner...Everything I do I do it for you...Straight from the heart Please forgive me 😍Thanks for the reaction 🥰
Description Bryan Guy Adams OC OBC is a Canadian guitarist, singer, composer, record producer, photographer, and philanthropist. With several number 1 singles and albums in various countries, Adams has sold over 100 million records worldwide.
One of my favorite singers especially in the 80s. I went to one of his concerts and he called me and my friend on stage. So I have been able to dance in person with him. I was born in the summer of 69 so this is my song lol.
We were in Chilcook Charlie’s in Anchorage, AK and Bryan Adams walked in and sat in the corner. The band was playing his songs before he came in and one of the guys I was with won his album for naming the songs they played. Bryan Adams autographed the album for him. Bryan has a great duet titled Its only Love with Tina Turner from this same album. Worth checking out!!!
Hey Jamel_AKA_Jamal, a big shut out and lots of love to you Brother, for listening to Bryan Adams for the first time!! He is from my Hometown, Kingston Ontario Canada!! There is other bands you need to listen to from my city, The Tragically Hip, The Headstones, The Glorious Sons, The Wilderness & Bruce Cockburn (who isn’t originally from Kingston, but he did go to Queen’s University)!! Love your videos man and keep the great music & love flowing!! Peace & Love to you and your family!!
He said in an interview this was his favorite. Like I said on the other song of his you did, he is one of my favorite singers/songwriters. Love every song he has.
Saw him live in Glasgow in '88. He played for 3 hours and blew everyone away. Always remember he started the intro for Summer of 69 and the crowd sang the whole song, every verse and chorus, while he played it instrumentally first before he sang himself. Awesome gig and I have always thought that he seems like a really decent bloke.
