This story has changed a bit over the years of retelling. The latest version I've heard is that it was planned. Not by the company, but by Miz and Bryan and it was supposed to end with Bryan punching Miz making even the company think they just got into a real fight on air. It was either get fired or get cleared to wrestle because they can't ignore this for Bryan. But then in the moment he thought it would make a bigger of an impact if he just walks away.

I remember when I first saw that Talking Smack I was like holy shit this promo by The Miz is excellent and they should be using him better. Danielson was great in it too and that was one of the few times in the last decade I was happy to be a WWE fan again. Because the promo felt real and genuine by both guys and not something so overscripted where you could tell it was a writer using a wrestler as a puppet. Now I'm gonna have to go back and rewatch it again lol 😂😂😂

Daniel realized that Miz was giving the promo of his career, and he didn't want to hurt that by kayfabe punching him. WHich is crazy, because that was how Miz was supposed to end his promo at getting punched. But he got so into it, was on fire, that even after Daniel shoot walked away, Miz just kept going and spitting out gold. One of the best promos ever. Miz has always had it, and I think he deserves another run.

From what I remember hearing in the WWE 24 Doc on the Miz, I think Bryan said they're just two vastly different personalities, which is understandable why they don't like each other. Also with Bryan often being critical of the Miz and how he wrestles
