@Kevin K Non-factor? In 2014, Harper had a WPA of 0.28 in the postseason. The next closest hitter on the team had a WPA of 0.11. In 2016, Harper had a WPA of 0.27. He was the second best hitter on the team by WPA, trailing only Jayson Werth, who had a WPA of 0.30. Having the highest or second highest WPA on the team is the exact opposite of being a non-factor.

@Kevin K Yes, a .211 batting average is acceptable if his other stats are good enough to make up for it. As his WPA shows, Harper more than made up for his low batting average in the playoffs. Ryan Zimmerman and Trea Turner both had a .300+ average in the 2016 playoffs, but they had negative WPA. Their performance negatively affected the Nationals, despite their high batting averages. The Nationals were knocked out each year because they faced teams with better pitching and their lineup had many holes. Bryce Harper was never the problem.

Mcfailure and klentak are terrible. They need to go. I trust J middle to do right for this city. It’s a good start by getting a new hitting coach, pitching coach in here and I love the girardi signing. He will get the best out of this underperforming bunch. New scouting department will help as well cause we haven’t produced any talent in our farm system. Also Go get the next acuna or Soto. They are out there to be had for cash only. We got Franco and Ortiz while acuna, and Soto went elsewhere. Pisses me off how bad our organization have been at evaluating talent

I believe top 3 in the league with RISP, most outfield assists in NL, 35 doubles 35 homers 114 RBIS, 373 OBP, he struck waaaaay to much and his average needs to be better I'll agree on that though.

They have neglected their minor league system and as a result we are going to see a mediocre team for decades unless they get a real owner that cares and seriously builds their minor league system to produce great players They also need to hire a good GM. Paying $300 million for Harper was a big mistake.

This shows that Altuve only had a slightly better season. Altuve's WAR/PA is about 9% higher than Harper's, and with his AAV of $30.2 million vs Harper's AAV of $25.4 million, he's getting paid 19% more than Harper. Paying 19% more for 9% better production doesn't seem like a better deal to me.
