Based partially on your review, got mine yesterday, set it up last night, downloaded some preplanned routes from Komoot. was deeply concerned about the lackluster screen but bore in mind this device is specifically designed to look good OUTDOORS, that the screen really wouldn't photograph well and it would look really washed out indoors. Took it for a first ride this morning. WOW. Soon as I saw the screen in daylight (even overcast/cloudy as it was), it made a DRAMATIC difference. Most cellphones struggle in daylight, this device was been engineered to do the exact opposite. Also, Sweet Cyclist has his unit set to the default "night" setting. You should flip it to "day" setting, where it looks much more like the Bolt v2-- VERY crisp, brilliant screen. Importing GPX files require an extra step, the Bryton app will ask if you first want to convert it to a turn-by-turn file, then send THAT file, not the original, over to the device. It's an extra step and a PITA, but the TBT worked absolutely flawlessly, with popups over my data screen that dismissed soon as I made the turn. This is a great device, one that more people should be talking about. But some will be put off by the dull screen if they see it in a store or first unbox it. Shine your cell phone's flashlight app directly at the screen and you'll see what I mean. I had to order the Bryton Mount Conversion Kit for Garmin Mount from Gambacicli, Italy www.gambacicli.com/en/ They FedExed it in 4 days. Thanks for the great (and, I think, only) review! This thing is sleek, powerful, thin like a cell phone. a real game changer. Just wish they'd shipped it with a Garmin mount.
Glad the review could help you. Thanks for you're feedback as well. The Bryton software is still a bit clumsy, I've found it to be a lot easier to create routes on RideWithGPS and link it to Bryton App - otherwise their web interface is pretty buggy and it's tedious to draw routes on the app.
How is the interface (if any) with komoot and the navigation? I use a Karoo right now which lets me run komoot on the device, wondered if the navigation with this device is as good and how easy you find it to move from screen to screen.
@@habanerooperations8432 actually, I don’t think I’ve ever used it with Komoot. I exported routes from komoot to my phone then imported them into the Bryton app. The Bryton is a touchscreen so you can swipe, it also has large side buttons to press if you’re wearing gloves. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
@@ceeskes412 Yup. Use it almost every day. Runs like a clock. In fact, just yesterday, I was out in the sun and looked at that brilliant screen and remembered making this comment about how dull the screen looks when you open the box inside your house. The screen is actually a work of genius, the reflective nature of it. indoors, it looks like crap. Take it out in the sun, and when light hits it, it looks like aluminum foil. Very bright colors, very easy to see. When you download roots from Komoot into Bryton Active, you will see an option to convert them to turn by turn directions when you go to transfer to your device. Convert them to turn by turn first, and then transfer the turn by file, not the original file, to the device. After that, the 800 Wil respond beautifully, keeping you on course, or helping you find your way back to it. Really love this thing, I actually think I like it more than I like my bike 🤔🤣
It should be. Sensors / heart rate monitors typically use generic Bluetooth or ANT+ protocols which means they can be used with a variety of computers / apps. The Polar H10 has both so it should work with nearly any GPS computer.
I've been using the S800 for over a year now, and there is no yellowing. It sounds like you may have a manufacturing issue with your GPS computer. I'd recommend reaching out to Bryton's support.
@@TheSweetCyclists hi what is your review / opinion on the device after 1 year ? any issue ? did the company update the software to address some issues ?
@@TheSweetCyclists how about the map ? People complain about the poor performance in general of the map. The rerouting is bad, the turn by turn is late etc..
I bought one in March and I have to say, I have been a Bryton user for 10 years and this product is great. However, the app is terrible and is a real pain to connect and use. Unfortunately, Bryton UK has not been any help in resolving the issue. I am now wishing I bought a Garmin.
Sorry to hear about the issues. One of the long standing complaints about Bryton is that their hardware is great but the software isn't quite as refined. The current Bryton app has a cleaner UI than previous versions, but it won't have all the support and features of Garmin. I usually just use the Bryton app to setup the computer and then as a pass through to upload to Strava and download routes via RideWithGPS or other platforms which works well.
@@TheSweetCyclists Thank you very much. Uploading to strava isn't an issue, I just wanted to use the navigation for a 14day trip I have with my girlfriend in June. Thanks again for the advice. I will use a 3rd party app for routing.
@@user-sj6jo8vf6nIf you have per-defined routes, I definitely recommend using RideWithGPS or other platforms to create the routes and then import them in. I haven't really used the S800's on-the-fly voice functions for navigation, but the voice recognition at least for me hasn't been that great.
does anyone know how to set up Bryton S800 so that you can change data pages using the upper di2 switches? in my previous baritone 860 it was possible to change data pages
Yes, the Bryton has all the left/right power meter data displays and metrics. I also agree that the Bryton software can be clumsy to use but it's still significantly cheaper than equivalent Wahoo / Garmin GPS computers.
Does anyone know if the out front mount is adjustable such that the angle of the unit itself could be raised (or lowered) for better access and readability? Also, is there an attachment for the bottom of the out front mount to which a light or camera could be attached?
The angle Sport out-front mount can be adjusted by loosening the attachment bolt and angling the entire unit upward or downward - you can adjust the angle when your installing it. Bryton also sells an adapter to add a GoPro mount to the bottom - it's missing from their website but listed on their Amazon store - www.amazon.com/Bryton-Combo-Mount-Adapter-Black/dp/B08X4WJW3W.
@@TheSweetCyclists Sorry, I was referring to to mount for flat handlebars. The mount appears to slot into a square hole located either on the handlebars or into the stem. Can that particular mount be adjusted?
@@wesleystephen9169 Ah, thanks for clarification. No the handlebar mount with o-rings don't have any adjustment or dual sided option (you should use a out-front mount for that). You can only rotate it around your handlebar, it's just plastic with a rubber backing.
Searching on the web.. I didn t found any mention about upload maps of countries not included in the maps preloaded . Is there a possibility to u load maps of different countries ? Does Bryton provide country maps ? free? how to install on device s800?
Good question. I haven't done it myself, but Bryton has instructions on their website - www.brytonsport.com/#/supportResult. Just click on "download" on the left side, then "map" for the instructions. You basically have to download the maps via the Bryton website, and copy them onto the S800 (or other Bryton GPS) using a USB cable.
Good question - it works pretty well. The touch screen does not support "multi-touch" (i.e. pinch / zoom interactions) so water droplets seem to just be ignored and it follows the pressure from your finger.
Tengo un bryton 750 y tengo menos de un año con el y empezó a descargarse pronto, ya no dura 3 hora de una ruta. Tiene su firmware actualizado. Algún información al respecto?
