Having established the big end bearing was remarkably good, and the timing side mainshaft being secure once more, I rebuilt the crank assembly and trued it to the best readings I could get. It certainly has to be a lot better than when this engine last ran!

If you consider in 6 years from now this BSA will be 100 years old (If 1930) and you will have had an input to help achieve keeping it on the road what a great job 👍. I have a Sunbeam flat tank 1927 just 3 years away from the big 100. Well done 👍

I know what you are going to say as heat and loctite do not hold

Paul, I was watching your other video and you mentined you were going to make a shim to stop the wandering of the crank. How are you going to get those dimentions?

Hi - RE Bullets use a spacer in that location which is the same width as one between the outer races. Would you believe, such a spacer is also the same width as the outer one on the BSA engine, and I have one, and it fits the mainshaft perfectly! If I assemble the crank loosely in the cases with the main bearings in place and find there is end float, I will shim between the flywheel faces as required, to take up the end float and centralize the crank relative to the crankcase joint.
