I'm hella late to this, but the multiclass format in itself was not the problem. They simply had to change the way they distributed points (more points in larger classes) or only awareded class titles (as is the case in most modern endurance series). The bigger problem was that it was all Sierras at the front of the field.
I fully understand why there was a revamp for 1991 but due to that change in rules MSport lost something special here. That era was magic & Ford off the back of this era did very well extremely well as did Bmw & Vauxhall. BTCC now is a mess imo & the Wrc as well. Manufacturers should get together & make some hot special models that attract the consumer to the competition vehicle. Make a lower cost competition version with a class & Msport will find its roots & flourish. Problem with current era the cars are so removed from standard guise it’s non comparable, budgets are huge & manufacturers need to see a return. This magical era has gone but I think MSport as a community should look @this and take serious note.
Wasn’t Brodies win disqualified due to irregularities in his post race fuel sample? This giving Tim Harvey a win & what I only believe is his only win in the BTCC in an Rs500. Might be wrong
