I can't believe Murray is now gone. The voice of mine, and so many others childhood, now commentating on that great race in the sky. Rest Easy Murray Walker.
Love that you've come here too after today's news. What a legend, what a character with such wit and passion. 'He'll never be forgotten' could not be more true with Murray. Rest in Peace Murray.
@@thestarlightalchemist7333 Am I mistaken or does Nascar and some predominantly oval race open wheelers have races on some regular tracks as well as the usual ovals? I'm sure I saw that a few times a very long way back!
R.I.P to the greatest motorsport commentator that has, and ever will live. The passion in his voice in this clip just emphasises how important this was. R.I.P Murray Walker
John Cleland's fate was sealed the moment his Vauxhall was on 2 wheels pushing Steve Soper's BMW to the extreme side of the track. From that moment there was only one evitable outcome. John kinda started it but Steve ultimately finished it.
@@JBurg_07 Cleland was and always has been a dirty driver he used sopers car so much to get around the corner his car was on 2 wheels after that there was only 1 outcome and that was it,i remember seeing that live on tv steve soper was an hero and Cleland got what he deserved in my opinion, the modern day version to Cleland is sheddon he drives the same way he must have gone to the same driving school as Cleland
My favourit BTCC moment of all time...was in the stand near where this happened with my dad cheering on Cleland only to scream out in disbelief when Soper took him off! Thanks for posting!!

Just bumped into Mr Soper in Boots the Chemist in a town just north west of London this morning. Not entirely sure he was impressed with me asking 'Excuse me, are you the Steve Soper, former Touring Car Driver ?' He just nodded 😄
I don't care what you say this was more exhilarating and exciting that F1, Rally and Nascar combined. It's such a shame we don't see this level of competitive motorsport these days.
I can assure you one thing. In Germany, the land of poets and laws, nobody would get away with such an action. Especially if a Mercedes was involved in any racing series, then Mercedes would demand punishment up to the last court. And also enforce. Otherwise Mercedes will cry again and threaten to leave the racing series like a toddler. 😁
tim harvey was an hard but fair driver whereas cleland was just a dirty driver who got away with far too much thats why he kept driving that way,but thats just my opinion
Yeah, everything being in highlights back in the day made the BTCC look like non-stop action. But they still had boring races, it's just they never got as much air time. Overall, the BTCC is still great.
Yep, my dad used to take me to brands hatch nearly every meeting. Seeing them all on the first lap coming over padlock Hill bend on the first lap was so intense. The Italians in the alfas, the volvos, the mondeos etc all having a right old scrap. What an era
That takes me back. Such a maddeningly frustrating game, might be one of the best racing games ever if the cars didn't spin on every single corner! "How shall we reflect that this car underperformed this year? I know, turn it into a propellor"
The era when BTCC racing was much better in my opinion, better cars because they were basically cars out of a garage showroom then adapted for racing. Murray Walkers commentary while Cleland was giving the finger. “John is going for 1st” lol
Soper's move to get past Cleland as the video opens was very good. Later in the lap, the BMW driver was annoyed at Cleland pushing him wide the previous corner, so just drove him off. Not sure why Soper was so determined to wreck Cleland though. Was there some beef before this race?
To be fair to Soper, he thought he more space than he realised. It was too argessive but Cleland would have done the same thing so idk what he's complaining about.
Cleland was one of four drivers who could have won the driver’s championship...Soper’s teammate (Harvey), won it partially thanks to Soper taking out JC
@@bri5428 Senna taking out a rival to win a championship. Schumacher doing the same. Soper does it for his teammate. The hero! Based on what I read previously, I always thought Soper was regarded as one of the best, so it kind of surprises me that Harvey was anywhere near him in the standings that this could happen. Not sure what happened in the 1992 season, as I was far too young then.
