The rapper who saying the most shit lived some years growing ip in Hawaii. It was calling him out without needing to call him out and also a clever reference.

Crow-tit is a tiny bird (baepsae in Korean) it represents poor try-hards, vs. storks (aka fat cats). BTS often call themselves baepsae/crow-tits due to their background of coming from nothing. They even have a song, Baepsae, which is a banger 💜

The thing you said about the watches just reminded me the most hilarious thing in Army history, which is when BTS were the face of a new car (Hyundai palisade) and the promo pictures came out and JHope was wearing 72K$ AP watch on the pictures next to the 30.000$ car 🤣

"Go to Hawaii," not only is a hard-core slang term in Korean to tell someone to "f off." But when Suga and RM were on the "panel" of underground rappers, pretty much all of them were saying that both of them sold out. Using the word "sugar" instead of Suga. Telling them both that when they go on stage and "get their make-up done." It is a conflict with hip hop. And most of them were just sounding ignorant. And at times still do. The worst of all these so-called underground rappers was B Free. Now B Free was born in Korea, however raised in Hawaii. B Free is the one who said to both RM and Suga that when they get their makeup done, they were not "like girls." But they "actually were girls." What I never understood about the whole exchange was that B Free being from Hawaii is fully aware of what goes into performing on stage. Which includes makeup. And I am fully aware he was saying these things to get a rise out of both of them. It never happened. Both kept their composure. Their response to B Free, as well as the rest of the panel, was "Joke," from RM. As well as "Agust D," from AgustD. Add this Cypher to it and we have the trifecta of "F OFF MOFO."

I believe RM mentions about pronunciation, diction and face because a lot people would mock him telling his pronunciation and diction weren’t good enough to be a rapper (which doesn’t make sense to me because ask anyone who’s speak fluent korean about he’s speech and they will say that his diction is perfect) and that he wasn’t “pretty” enough to be an idol. For some reason he doesn’t fit Korean beauty standards and that’s crazy because to me he is very handsome 🤷🏾‍♀️

I think it’s part of a Korean idiom that says when a crow-tit (nobody) tries to act like a stork (someone above them) they will hurt themselves. BTS references this occasionally to refer to someone who is a try hard. They have a whole song about this Baepsae (baepsae is a crow-tit). If I’m wrong, give it a minute and a more knowledgeable ARMY will set me straight 💜😂

I think telling haters that they should love themselves is both ironic & serious here. BTS are genuinely saying that they believe people should love themselves. Cypher #3 marks the end of an era for the rap line - if you think of it like EKR's stages of grief, they're signaling that they've grown & moved past having negative thoughts about the people that hate them. To put it another way, there's a saying that the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference: Cypher 1-3 illustrates BTS' journey from being angry & hurt by trolls, through indifference & dismissiveness and on to self-love. - RM's verse is suggesting that indifference is also the opposite of hate; if you really want to get under the skin of someone who hates you with a passion, respond with, "I don't care." - J-Hope's verse shows that success is the best revenge. He reinforces the idea that loving yourself is the ultimate goal; the highest form of success is yet another area in which BTS have achieved more than their haters. I think it's helpful to know that RM said he had trouble writing his verse until he heard J-Hope's and realized that was the tone & attitude that he needed. - Suga caps it all off by reiterating that the root of the frustration & anger with BTS is actually self-loathing on the part of the trolls. Suga being Suga, though, means that his truth comes with an ironic twist. So, he basically wishes the haters a long & healthy life, because that means they'll have many more years to seethe while watching BTS thrive.

In an interview with Suga and RM, a Korean rapper named "B-free" who was calling them girls for wearing makeup and such and telling them they're not hip hop is from Hawaii.

Cypher 2 Suga said go to Hawaii. The person is American Korean rapper from Hawaii. Do you remember the BTS introduction video? Suga and RM went to the Hip hop event in 2013 after BTS was debuted. Suga was 20 and RM was 19. BFree said "You guys could have taken the road towards becoming rappers, but you couldn’t beat that temptation. Is BTS’s music hip hop? Is wearing makeup on stage like a girl hip-hop?".

You catching kicks off of Suga's line about bewitching these men's girlfriends is such a mood. It took me all the way out and back when I heard it too. Honestly, a lot of rappers say these thing and you just laugh at them like "Yeah buddy, sure you do." because you know good and well they don't have that kind of pull outside of the money. But when Suga says it, it's like "Yeah yeah I believe that. You're right and you should say it." Nobody has gotten more marriage proposals than this man. Even when he's not in an event or live or performance or even in a space that has nothing to do with BTS, someone is yelling, writing or holding a sign saying "Yoongi marry me". When he spits those kinds of lines there's no doubt. You just gotta say "Yes bewitcher of girlfriends sir, talk yo shit." It's good to know that fellow black folks are equally childish about hearing "naega" and "nikka" in these songs because I swear I get way too much joy from hearing it too. You'd think it would get old but sometimes it really does sound like they're talking shit in English and it just hits right. I feel like BTS held a meeting about making the final Cypher a bit softer and Yoongi either missed the memo, fell asleep in the meeting or said fuck it. RM and Hobi did a nice cute lil dragging but overall it was mainly sarcastic. Yoongi said nah I aint forgiving a single mf, I'm here to scalp em. Sometimes I wonder if it's just because this song was made in the Love Yourself era that they were going for a softer Cypher that leans more sarcastic than directly a drag. Or maybe if they really just got to a point in their fame where they were not longer punching at their peers who looked down at them, now they're just punching down at people who would never get on their level. I think the meaning behind the 'player hater you should love yourself' is that only people who are really unsatisfied with their own life will hate on someone. Hating others stems from hating yourself. Bts is basically telling haters: "the only reason you're hating is because your own situation is so shitty and you are unhappy". and i mean in a way, telling someone that they hate themselves is a pretty hard diss

The go to hawaii line was a very specific reference for someone. His name is Bfree and I'm sure you already came across him. He was the one who told Joon and Suga that they look like girls when they put makeup on for the stage. He's from Hawaii or was born there can't really remember but that line and essentially the whole cypher pt 2 was for him. That's why Hobi has less lines in pt2 than Joon and sugar. This was a song for the two of them to go off on Bfree and Hobi wasn't there so he wasn't as affected.

I think this Cypher Medley needs additional context for those who doesn't know. This was the only ever time they did a Cypher Medley, and it was the last concert of their Wings Tour after they won their first Billboard Award ever. Prior to this, they were still being shit on by the media (K-Media especially) and fandoms from other rival Kpop fandoms. This Cypher medley was their way for showing their middle finger - a moment for them to brag a little with ARMY, which is something they have been avoiding before this. The parts on this one where you stopped and commented how you would have changed the lyrics to make it sound better etc.. you have to realize that the subtitles are just a translation from Korean to English. In Korean it sounds WAY better and makes more sense. It’s almost impossible to directly translate to English and have it mean the same word for word. It’s actually a miracle when they do rap where they switch back n forth between languages and it still manage to rhyme. THAT takes skill. and it’s challenge that American rappers don’t even have to deal with. Shows how talented BTS rappers truly are. Cypher Medley Live is one of my favorite live performances ever. This is a fan made video that combines the official concert performance (which is on their BTS Wing Trilogy Tour Concert Video that is PAID content) mashed up with fan taken video. They did this edit because when fans put the actual concert performance on youtube, it kept getting taken down for copyright.
