None of the effects are cgi (except maybe for the fire to be bigger), also the saying save me written on the wall if you flip that upside down it spells I'm fine (which is a follow on songafter save me). Also they are chorus Kings and I love the fan chant for fake love e too. Also Jin really shines in this song and MV too as this MV is also part of the BTS universe

This is the first BTS song I ever heard after looking them up when I kept hearing “Butter” snippets on tic tok. I listen to music for the lyrics (I write poetry in my spare time so words have always been immensely important to me) and the lines that made me go “Woah” were “I grew a flower that can’t be bloomed in a dream that can’t come true” & “I wish love was as perfect as love itself”. Like to say I squealed at the depth of those lines & how it set off my own creativity was insane, oh the poems I wrote lol I then watched “On” next & have been army ever since (although still a baby army). A lot have already mentioned Fake Love being a part of the BU, but I also wanted to say that the basic theme of the MV is conquering one's fear. Each member's fear (which connects to the BU) is shown and conquered in this MV. Each member's scene represents a fear, like Jimin's with the water and Yoongi's with the fire. I don't quite remember if you've reacted to I Need U but if you have, the images in Fake Love connect back to that.

Their songs can be interpreted in numerous ways and they always encourage fans and listeners to draw our own conclusions beyond their original intention behind a piece. For Fake Love, seeing how it’s part of LY: Tear, it talks about how the person in the relationship is beginning to realise how they’ve changed themselves to fit what (they believe or know) their partner wants, effectively erasing themselves and putting up a façade just to keep the relationship alive. They realise how a love based on lies is fake and how both of them created something that doesn’t actually exists. In the end it ties in with the series in that not loving oneself leads people to be willing to change themselves at their core if it means people will love them because they believe themselves to be unlovable as they are or believe they have to be a certain way to be loved. BTS usually put their albums out in series that cover a concept or theme. this song is from their love yourself series which is three albums long and the albums tell an overall story. the first album is called Her and it is about love or a relationship that seems like it is destined to be. In the second album TEAR is where we begin to realise that the person in this "perfect" relationship is starting to realize that they have been changing who they are to make the other person happy mainly because the person changing thinks, they themselves are not good enough for the other person. The last album is Answer and it is where the person realises that they are in an unhealthy relationship with this person because they don't have a healthy relationship with themselves and that they must learn to love themselves before they can truly love and be loved in a healthy relationship. most of their album series tell stories if you listen to them in order.

BTS actually have a resident choreographer who’s been with them since debut called Son Seungduk, and he choreographs most of their dances, occasionally aided by other choreographers (often from other countries) who are brought in to add a fresh style to a certain track. However J-hope does occasionally contribute to choreography, and in his role as dance leader, once they have all learnt the basics of a dance he leads the practices and corrects the finer details since he picks dances up the fastest.

i really appreactiate your commentary! can tell you speak from the heart. fake love is part of the bangtan universe (bu) which is a storyline that goes on through some of their music videos starting with "I need you" . you'll be amazed by all the references this video has such as the "save me" that appeared on V's shots here if you flip it upside down it becomes "I'm fine" (just a little sneak peak into what is this rabit hole xd)

Fake love can be between any relationships (you & friend, parents, siblings, lover...) and if you see their BU, you will understand better about this song. Snicker bars and JHope are about his mother and his trauma in BU. Fire, water, mirror, key hole, flower, cell phone, all are purposely set there with stories. Even their dance movements are maching the background statue "see no evil, hear no evil & speak no evil".

This MV was my first contact with BTS ever 💜 I'm sure a lot of people will talk in the comments about the BU related stuff so I'll talk about the lyrics. I do love the way it can be applied to many kinds of relationships, even if it's a romantic one, if it's friendship, if it's with parents and family, an artist with fame, even a person with themselves. I relate a lot in the relationship I had with religion in the past. I used to believe it was my place and what I loved beyond anything, but in reality I was killing myself and my own beliefs to fit in what it was expected from it. So it's a very versatile song. You talked about Butter and I agree. There's artistry in music made to entertain great masses as well, it's a very difficult thing because a song like this can easily feel forced.

If you’re into their choreo too you should absolutely watch ‘am i wrong’ choreo the lyrics are already spectacular (they even risked getting banded from the whole country with it) but the choreo is so expressive and symbolic it’s crazy you should definitely watch explanation or smth

I loved to hear music while understanding the meaning of it.. that is what lacks in most modern music.. little that I know, this is not the only one of their songs that have deep meaning.. now, everytime I hear this song, I can feel the emotion and getting teary eyes in an instant..

I always think of Fake Love as a companion piece to Blood, Sweat and Tears. Both songs deal at least on one level with the artist's relationship to the art and the industry, and the exploitation and sacrifices made at the cost to the artist's wellbeing. Even in the FL choreo, there are parts which look very much like the members are marionette dolls being controlled by some invisible hand and at the end they seem spent and exhausted, like they have nothing more to give. I know the lyrics are open ended and can be read in many ways, but I find this reading to be the most fascinating as it makes a larger commentary.

the snickers scene where jhope is lying on top of them is a reference to the Highlight Reels video in the BU, his mom abandoned him at a carousel and left chocolate there for him

One of my favorite parts of the video is when he is running down a hallway, barely staying ahead of the floor giving way underneath him. I feel like I’ve lived that moment a few times in my life. I could only stop running when I found a different path.

They really do create art. The song and music are just part of it the fashion the dancing is very interpretive in this song it’s talking about being a puppet for others and the moves are marionette moves (very much in the live versions for the Asian award shows they really leaned into marionette imagery and even more obvious dance break with it). The MV is so beautiful the filming style the real sets they built and used. They even address the fake love of social media with V in a room with walls covered in flashing phones and behind him the words “Im Fine” and at the end it turns upside down and the words then say “Save me” and they have two songs that tie together Save Me and Im Fine. No one creates this layer of complexity and ties together songs ideas and the BU story like they do. And no it’s not sponsors snickers 😂 JHope in the BU is traumatized by fake love that is tied symbolically to a candy bar (I won’t say more). This is all a lot of BU clues and tie in symbols as well as being off Tear album which was #2 in Love Yourself trilogy. There is another MV and a rock version of Fake Love they filmed that’s an extended version with even more BU weird clues and hints, if you don’t get the. u it might be extra confusing. I am surprised you had t seen this but glad you were able to enjoy it.

I really believe that BTS dance is superior cause it includes interpretive dance element, their dances tell story of the song and sometimes illustrate directly lyrics. So when you hear song and watch performance you get full audiovisual story. After, when you try to watch other groups there is smth lacking and then you understand that most kpop dances are not align with lyrics and just made to look cool on stage

Bangtan Universe tells the story of the personal traumas of the characters represented by BTS, in Fake Love there is a lot of reference to these traumas, for example JHope and his childhood, maybe "fake love" is related to figures that caused these trauma, not necessarily something loving . Some fans also believe that it may be related to the perfect image that an idol must pass and their true side

LOL I too thought you reacted to this. Guess you didn’t. Well anyway glad you finally did. It truly is one of my fave MV’s/Song’s by them. The hidden message about loving themselves and their pasts. The only ones I know are Yoongi’s and J-Hope’s. And it’s just so sad. The reason I care about BTS so much is because they don’t make music for the popularity. They make music about THEMSELVES and that’s a great way for all of us to relate. To be reminded that they’re people too. Deep messages about real problems and about issues with controlling people like in the song “Baepsae” or “silver spoon” which is the other name for it. Every song of theirs has a meaning and it’s just amazing to go through their whole story and how far they’ve come. Fake Love is in the “Love Yourself” Era which is my favorite Era. Not only that but it’s the year I was introduced to them. 2017-2018 were the best of BTS in my opinion. Everything was such a turning point. Sorry this is long but I truly love their lyricism and you’re my favorite reactor considering you appreciate every fiber of lyricism and take it to heart as one should in music 🤗 Just wanted to share my point of view haha

This is my own personal opinion, but I think that the "Fake Love" is between BTS and ARMY. At least, at the time this came out. They used to be less honest with us abuot their thoughts and feelings. They tried to always pretend that they were happy and feeling good. They tried to hide when they were sick, tired, injured, or depressed. They tried to mold themselves to fit ARMY's image of them, even when it was a false image. I don't think that the song is meant to scold ARMY, or anything like that, I just think that it's BTS explaining that they were not who we thought they were and how they got to that point. Even last year, JK was talking about how he doesn't feel like he's the "Golden Maknae" that ARMY thinks he is and tries hard to make himself fit that image. Their whole discography, from this era forward, is about hiding behind masks and not know who they really are. Being lost and confused. Figuring out that they needed to learn to love themselves before they could love others and others could genuinely love them. Map of the Soul is about introspection figuring out who you really are and combining the scattered aspects of your psyche into a single whole. Understanding, healing, and loving yourself and how to do that. To me, if you look at the lyrics from this perspective, they make a hell of a lot of sense.

The chocolat bar in jhope scene is part of the story Line, his mother left him alone in a theme Park with a chocolat bar, jimin has something with water, jin with the smeraldo flower that he was supposed to give to the girl he loved but she died infront of his eyes, yoongi and the piano and the fire (hé wanted to kill himself by burning himself) tae with a phone (for this one i don't remember what it means) and RM i really don't know,as for JK, hé is kinda the one who watched the others stories, you should whatch the highlight reels
