I've been looking for years for a video, where someone's sharing and explaining the editing process. Not to copy. To learn new techniques, points of view, etc. I'm really glad I've found your channel. Thank you so much for the value content.
Another excellent and informative video. Thank you. With regards to using ND filters, or any circular filters for that matter, instead of buying one for each lens, just buy one for the size for your largest lens and then buy step up rings for your smaller lenses. These allow all different sized lenses to attach to the filter. They only cost a couple of dollars each too!
The video was long, but you covered everything and left nothing out which I appreciated. I have watched and appreciated a few of your videos. This one twice. I must confess that I was surprised that no one mentioned what appeared to be a possible mystery word in the clouds behind Julia. LOL! Please keep up the great work!!!
Thank you very much for sharing your techniques adding the BTS. Its very helpful!! I follow you on IG and you add a lot of BTS there. So once again THANK YOU and keep up the good work!!!
H Francisco, great video but I watched this video a number of times hoping to see how and when you actually adjusted the VND filter to darken the sky before switching on the flash. This section was very important for me but you seemed to skip over this part far too quickly, could you please explain in more detail this part of the process. Thank you
Hey buddy, great video! I have a question. By using an ND filter aren't you essentially reducing the power of the flash, like when using high speed sync? Say your flash is at full power, then you slap an ND filter on. The image will be underexposed, no? That's what I mean about an ND filter reducing flash power too. I don't understand when you said high speed sync cuts down the power of the flash but ND filters don't @ 2:15. I understand in a physical sense they don't, but in the end it's the same effect, isn't it? In the end both high speed sync and ND filters are both limiting the amount of light from the flash entering the sensor. Just two different methods of doing so. Am I missing something?
There's more to the story. HSS is literally cutting down the power in order to work. ND filters are basically sunglasses for your lens. It's not affecting the power of the light at all.Imagine a flashlight shining on something and then you put on sunglasses. Did you lower the flashlight? No, you just reduced the exposure of the whole scene. HSS is like putting on sunglasses and also reducing the output of the flashlight. I regret not going over this more in the video so thanks for commenting.
Looking forward to your video on the STC Optics Sensor Filter! I am caught between getting the 6 stop or the 4 stop ND filter and I’d like to know which you would use for what type of look / situation. :)
Great video as usual brother. I actually prefer ND filters over high speed sync. I know it's a preference thing. When I was using Einsteins in the past, it was the best option available. I eventually went to the Flashpoint/godox lights a couple of years ago, and I I would find myself reverting back to ND Filters often. Your flash doesn't get taxed a hard. Love the breakthrough filters.
Wow what a great video. New the channel and I subscribed and liked the video in 1 min 3 seconds, that never happens! Look forward to seeing more content.
a tip about using ND filters: get one ND filter kit for the biggest size lens you have, and then just get adapter rings so you can use the same ND filter on lenses with smaller diameter. super simple and super cheap way to go about it.
Great Video! may i ask you which C-stand are you using ? ( i mean the one behind you) i am using Walimex but i would like to know if there is a professional alternative for shooting outside (with no people helping lightning) thank you 🙏🏻
I use an AD 600 pro 135 1.8, Hoya 6 stops plus CPL and a softbox. I still need to be on HSS at ISO 50, afternoon sun in the tropics and I cant get get enough power to light my subject.
I am new in this high speed sync flash setup, I never try before after looking at your video and others , I have interest to get one to try out. But I am not sure whether as begineer I dont want to spend that budget and dont want to carry so much on travel. I came around one Godox SK400 iI which only have a max speed of 1/2000 and intend to use in day time or sometime evening and with ND 3 stop filter , can it be setup to match AD200 pro or AD400 which have speed of 1/8000 sec. ?
I always enjoy your videos, thanks! Not totally related, but maybe you'll have an idea: How does Irene achieve such beautiful (almost flash like...) results with only natural light? What's the secret?
EagleXL one thing I admire about photographers who use natural light a lot is their ability to read and predict great lighting. Having an eye for that really helps in the end result but of course Irene is a master of her craft too with posing, getting great expressions, and keeping the shoot very natural (not posed). It's something you need to practice to develop. I'm working on getting better at natural light myself.
Wow, that's a lot of work. Your images look stunning and pop right out. May I ask how long it took you to edit the image in PS? Because it is quite a lot of changes. If it's a lot of time (hours), then how is this sustainable if you have multiple images, models and shoots? Thanks
Hey Fransisco. Just wondering what ever happened to the video you said you would make on the STC Clip Filters for Sony. I really trust your judgement and would love to know if its worth it and what are the pros and cons. Keep up the great work
Hi Francisco, so, today I made a family shot, around 20, 25 images I will deliver, if I want to have them all consistency I must do this kind of editing (plus a personal ones) on all of them, right? Do you do this kind of editing too when you have a bunch of pictures or just on those you want them to pop up?
i guess im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the account password. I love any help you can offer me.
@Imran Jasper Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Great use of ND filter! Good photos and thanks a lot for sharing....I just couldn't help seeing that one piece of straw below the models eye that makes me want to take it out :P
I'm using the A7RIV right now and after a month I'll decide if I'm going to keep it or get something else. If another sony camera comes out soon like the A7SIII I would want that instead for the better video features it should have.
Love the shot! I was just wondering, what is the reason you mostly go for pre posed static portrait shots? You shoot with a camera with a constant eye auto focus option no? So you have the possibility to for the model to move, and still have the eyes in focus.
I just subscribed. have a Canon M50, can you recommend a complete beginner-intermediate portable set up to start my outdoor portrait shooting? I will get them through your channel. And if you could help me add to that kit and advance them I would greatly appreciate it.
Snowwalker sure thing. I actually have a video going over the best and most affordable light setup to get. Search youtube for "FJH cheap ocf" and it's the first video. 😊
Great work! Ive been wanting to get a little one light setup for outdoor portraits instead of everything natural light all the time. Will that AD200 fit in the less expensive octaboxes on Amazon? Like the cheaper Neewer ones and such? Thanks
Just curious, what is the point of messing around in photoshop so much? Everything you're doing can be done in lightroom now, and I wonder what the advantage is to doing it in photoshop instead? I'm not being critical, I'm genuinely curious.
I'm kind of new in Ps...basic knowledge, I was following very close this tutorial, and applying to one of my images. My question is, Could be possible for you to do an Action of this? Many thanks
Your videos are always so helpful and inspiring. It really helps us people who are new to this stuff to know all the ins and outs of capturing photos at this level. Love this series, thank you
There is another alternative to circular filters..square filters 100mm/100mm. Holders and adapters cost nothing. Cheap glass filters like k&f, zomei, jongsun are better than 99% of circular filters and cost a fraction of the price of the expensive ones. You can change them very quickly, combine them very quickly, and you also have graduated filters, which gives you much more flexibility.
Can you help me please am a beginner, I left today all happy with the solete to take photos and it would not let me go over 1/200 speed, if I put automatic mode I would go up to 1/380 or 1/400 alone and in manual mode it does not let me ... ... Is there any way I can use my trigger and that the camera in manual mode can change the shutter speed from 1/200 to higher (IT ONLY ALLOWS ME TO INCREASE THE SHUTTER SPEED WHEN I DISCONNECT THE TRIGGER XPRO BUT WHEN I CONNECT IT AGAIN, IT LOWS ME TO 1 /200) Since I have verified that when I place the 1/1000 trigger, I lower 1/200 and I do not understand what the reason is if it is in M mode (Manual) I should be able to handle it as I pleased. I use the godox Ad200 HELP PLEASE 🙏😭
@@fjhphoto I need your help Before in Manual mode I could in the LV button I could go visualizing when I made adjustments such as increasing the iso or shutter speed or diaphragm aperture when I made changes visualizing in on the screen (LV) but now when I make changes I only see that the numbers change but in (LV) I can't see if the light goes up or down I explain Before in LV I could visualize how the subject darkened or lightened by setting iso, aperture or shutter speed but no longer And I'm interested to know if something is wrong with my camera I use a Nikon D3300
