Okay so Festa is the yearly celebration (that lasts upto 10-14 days) BTS has with ARMY celebrating their anniversary. This particular one is from their 2021 Festa for their 8th anniversary. They usually release free songs, extra content, interviews, photoshoots, etc, every day (this video is an example) during this time as gifts. It is also usually followed up with a sit talk talk and a muster which is a special concert at their debut day every year. In the muster we get special live performances, songs that aren't usually at the set lists, skits, etc at the live show and is like one big celebration. 💜💜

They do! Since their first album atleast the rappers would have credits in each song, RM has the most credits in lyrics, composing & producing around 190++ songs?? I forgot but 3 of them has over 110 credits for sure (the rappers)

This performance is extra cool for new fans because you get to hear music spanning from 2013 to 2020 and it’s mostly all B-side tracks that are fan favorites in some way. BTS Festa is what BTS calls their anniversary celebrations every year. This was for 2021 , their eighth year anniversary. Every year they have this huge concert filled with special performances and skits. Also the whole week leading out to it they drop tons of different content, like covers, original solo songs, special dance videos, extra behind the scenes clips they never released…this video they dropped as part of it because it shows their history but also because these are fan favorite b-sides that they either rarely performed or no longer do on their set list. So it’s super nostalgic for long time fans and a really good introduction for new fans

At 8:44 you see SUGA and J-Hope, in this verse of "Telepathy" they are doing a bit more singing than rapping. And at 9:41 J-hope is straight up singing. The rappers do sing, or do more melodic rapping. RM does it mostly on his "Mono" mixtape.

Yes, the rappers do sing at times. They all can. Never doubt the singers can do at least some rap, some of it excellent. You will enjoy Danger from their Dark and Wild album. This is very early.

So all of Kpop really loves to blend genres, but BTS specifically have talked about how they consider themselves to fusion music with Hip hop at the core because that’s where they got their start. They definitely go through phases in their music but also they do albums in themes and topics instead of sounds so one album might have 5 different genres in it, but talking about an idea in many different ways or often have story arch’s along the album. Some genres they cover are Pop and Hip hop obviously. 90s hip hop, trap, R&B and traditional ballads, orchestral ballads, Latin pop, reggaeton, rock, EDM, house, synth pop, disco pop, lo-fi, Brit pop-rock, even a bit of bubblegum pop. One of their hit songs that really helped boost them onto a global level is a moonbahton trap song. When it dropped I remember thinking I had never heard anything like it before, but they introduced to a whole new genre. There’s probably more I could list. This is also why I hope you don’t feel scared to ever say you disliked a song or it wasn’t your taste. Because honestly it’s hard for anyone to like every song just because they are so diverse. Lots of hardcore fans like every song but it’s honestly because they’ve grown to love the people who make the music, but it’s not the same when you first start out. The one thing that never changes though is the incredible production quality. Personally I really love the dancing side of things so even if it’s a song I don’t love but it has a great performance, I end up watching it enough times the song grows on me or I hear the song and get reminded of the dance and so like it a lot more

BTS’ albums and songs are thematic. There is a story that runs through each album or album series. (Not to be confused with the Bangtan Universe storyline. That’s a fictitious story line that runs through many MVs, short films, webtoons, notes, and even a game). If you care about meaning and deep lyrics, BTS is the group for you. They write about what they are going through at the time. Their earlier albums are about school issues. I like the old stuff bc it is more hip hoppy. Don’t be confused… I love their new stuff. I just like the hip hop stuff the most. They started as a hip hop group and evolved over time. Leading all the way up to now with their “last” album BE, which is about the pandemic. I say last in quotes because they released a Japanese album since then. Yeah they release Korean, Japanese, and now English tracks. They are the hardest working young men in any industry.

Oh hey, I enjoyed your reactions to BTS :) BTS has 4 vocals it's and 3 rappers - all of them dance. All of the members are involved in producing, composing and writing their songs. They also release their own solo mixtapes, and even free original solo songs/unit songs/ covers on SoundCloud as gifts to ARMYs. They release songs across a variety of genres and themes. Other than Dionysus, just from the top of my head, I know they have Fake Love in Rocking Vibe Mix and DNA in Pedal 2 LA Mix (rock remixes of their title tracks). They do trap, edm, pop ballad, ballad, hip hop, R&B, etc I still can't believe UGH was your true intro to BTS 🤣 It's a great song, just most of the time I see ppl exploring starting from their title tracks instead of B-sides (they have SOLID b-tracks tho) They got a lot of songs with sociopolitical commentaries like UGH (across diff genres and style) even since their debut.

Actually their entire 37 minutes performance is AMAZING not just that one song. For other rock songs, Fake Love and DNA. Of you want HARD ROCK from them, I suggest you look into their collaboration stage with the Korean artist SeoTaiji. He does mostly Metal Music now, and the collaboration on his song Classroom Idea is truly something to behold

I love seeing both your interest in BTS flourish as it mirrors a lot of people (including myself) BTS rabbit hole. Love seeing ya’lls initial confusion but joy that was present from the beginning. Ya’ll should watch the videos that explain BTS from the beginning to end - this includes who the individual members are and their starting roles, their history, and everything else in between. They’re long videos but worth it with all the questions you have about the members. (I would suggest the “who bts are” video that came out more recently just because it’s more up to date to 2021)

The last song Telepathy you can really see some of their real personalities.. ;D From the start [8:22] you can see the eldest ({role of an eldest is important role in K-pop group,} 29 {as I write this}, vocalist, main visual) Jin dancing on the table. he is silly and seems loud and loves to tell dad jokes and loves bad puns (almost as much as I do) His laugh sounds like window wipers squeaking on the glass. [8:24] song is started by Jungkook violet hair&mic (24, main vocalist, dance line member, visual, also his role is Center and he is the Youngest, Maknae) His voice is incredible, there is nothing he is bad in. ARMY likens him to a bunny. {No, we are not talking Chinese horoscopes here} He was only 14-15 when they debuted. [8:42] start's my bias (=favorite) SUGA (28, Lead rapper. They always call him out in the true rap fashion "Suga!" is called every time before he starts. He is preferably in the back row and takes it easy and let's the more extroverted members have the show. But You have seen our Savage King (in UGH!) when he has something to say - He is highly political, and will not soften his words of there is something he can say. Suga's animal moniker is cat - he will be sleeping looking cute and innocent, but given good enough reason that mouth full of sharp teeth and his Tongue technology will kill you. {Also check his solo works under Agust D -> Suga backwards is agus D(aegu)T(own) (Daegu sis his home city)} {Both highly political members and former underground rappers the two first members, Suga and RM are the main writers&producers of BTS songs. Of course they have producers and lyricist in their company to help anyt time - the CEO of Big Hit is Producer "Hitman" Bang who they have always have their backs, and of course their company os sent material all the time (Dynamite)} The part that makes ARMY scream and not in a good way [19:15] Is the moment when our 27 years old Leader, Main rapper, and verified God Of Destruction climbs on the chair behind everybody. "No! DOWN! RM get Down there before you kill yourself, and Destroy the whole set somehow while doing that! STOP! In the name of all the middle-child -Monsters, please Joonie, get down there! IN ONE PIECE!" *ARMY calling their boss Bang-PD* While we are hysterically worried about RM, [9:27] You can enjoy very typical V ("Tae", 25, vocalist, dance-liner, visual, lovely oddball) moment as he has fun in his green shirt. Tae also standing on a chair is no problem to us, we know he can take care of himself. We have all the trust in our Tae-bear, who named his animal symbol tiger {Still not talking Chinese horoscopes here} [9:45] Is A perfect moment to see J-hope (green shorts) in his element dancing. (27, sunshine {this is official role, no really, I'm not joking} lead rapper, main dancer, sub vocalist {although there is nothing sub in his vocals!}{BTW Main is higher that Lead in Korean system! Opposite of western terms!}) [945] You hear Jimin's incredible high notes (Green vest with two stripes) {I think on a good day all BTS vocal-line can hit the same high notes} (25, main dancer, lead vocalist {I believe all BTS vocalists are lead vocalists}).

My daughter has been a K-pop fan since 2012 so she’s been army since the beginning I just never paid attention to what was in her headphones so I was literally under a rock. To answer your questions: Festa is the name of a 2 week long celebration they do every year in June, to celebrate the anniversary their debut (first album release/first public tv performance) on June 13 2013. This year was the 8th anniversary. During these 2 weeks they release a ton of content (behind the scenes footage, games, live performance videos like this, maybe a new song, funny choreographies, an hour long sit-down chat between the 7 of them and a live concert/fan meeting). BTS fans are incredibly spoiled in general when it comes to content, they are very busy releasing so much in various different mediums (music, reality shows,…) it’s almost impossible to catch up on everything 😆 Yes you’re right: there are 4 singers (called Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook/JK) and 3 rappers (RM, j-hope and SUGA). They are all very involved with the songwriting and production process and have a lot of artistic freedom but also have an in-house team to help them. They’ve described their process as an “all-year-long music camp”, they’re all constantly coming up with new lyrics, themes and melodies and it’s all very collaborative. I love that you reacted to another bts video, glad you’re enjoying them! Maybe one day you could do an album review? (For example for “You Never Walk Alone” with lyric translations?) I’m not aware of any hard rock BTS song, but you’re right that would be really cool. Maybe one day!

I would also like to see a real rock song from BTS. I know they would be great at it, especially Jin, he can really belt when he wants to. Rock is actually my favorite genre, but I love BTS anyway, despite the absence of rock songs. Suga will frequently use electric guitars in his music production, and it just makes me want more.

Festa is such a fun time for both BTS and ARMY. It's like an annual celebration of their anniversary together. The Fandom and Bangtan are like this old married couple, intent on finding ways to surprise each other with special projects. When BTS has their fanmeetings during this, we call this a Muster, which a clever witty way of saying a gathering of ARMYs. Lol, it is an actual military term for a gathering of soldiers and since ARMY is the official acronym for the fandom, you'll often see us tease each other in that type of way. It's adorable. 😂💜

Three rappers, four vacalists...💜💜💜 All sing in later days...

This was brief pieces from several songs. As you get to know their music you will realise which ones are which. And I do recommend you get to know their music. It simply does not disappoint. Plus they are their own genre, not really K-pop. Finally if you think they only appeal to teenages, a large percentage of their support are from people over 30. I myself am 68 years old.

Jhope and Jungkook can sing and rap simultaniously. Formal rappers are Jhope, SUGA, and RM. SUGA are so aggressive rapper and RM are philosophical rapper. 'Save me' is the song to dedicated to ARMY. Every songs they sung were made by them.

There are three rappers, RM, Suga and J-Hope but the others like to try their hand at rapping. The vocalists are Jungkook, Jimin, Jin and V but J-Hope also sings. They write a lot of their own songs and have a hand in their production. Suga is a well respected producer who works with other artists like IU. He has won an award for production. RM has the most credits for song writing but Suga isn’t far behind and actually writes about 290 songs a year. He takes his production equipment with him wherever they go be it on tour or on their break in the forest called In the Soop. In the first series of that they wrote and produced the theme song for it while they were there. J-Hope also writes a lot of songs. The others write but will quite often take their ideas to RM who will help them put them together into a song.

I just gotta say, I was born in the 60's, grew up on rock and heavy metal. I then learned how to play a few instruments and continue to keep up with new music. Music has saved my life several times. Most of the time when I buy an album, it is rare to like every track on it. There are a few groups that provide an album with all good tracks, and I'm talking groups like The Beatles, Queen, a few Metallica lps, etc. BTS is the exception. I have listened to all their albums and I think there are only 2 tracks out of their entire body of work that I don't appreciate as much as the others. They are now my 'go to' group when I need to jam. Keep on discovering new music, it helps you enjoy life.

Love this performance it’s such a good overview of some favorite BSides from every year. It reminds me there is a saying (or is it a staff quote?) if you don’t give BTS choreography they end up climbing the furniture because they are so chaotic and random. I think of a song by them Apanman they do live a lot on tour and instead of choreography they inflate bounce houses and slides and they literally play on it while singing for 5 mins.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but I noticed you commented on the mic colors BTS always uses different color mics. They actually picked their own colors with their own meanings behind why. It also helps the sound crew to be able to adjust the volume of each member as needed. These are the colors they use most of the time (the occasionally switch it up, like in this performance, but not often). RM (Namjoon) - light blue (looks almost silver) V (Taehyung) - green Jungkook - purple (occasionally teal) Jimin - gold Jin - pink (sometimes white) Suga (Yoongi) - black J-Hope (Hoseok) - red

Best one is on a channel called seotaiji from the DVD of Seo Taiji's 25th anniversary concert. Who is Seo Taiji? Basically the godfather of popular Korean music. "Classroom Idea" is a critique of the strict educational system in South Korea.

As an older ARMY, I had loved and still love their older music more. NOT that their newer music isn’t good because for goodness’ sake, it’s amazing and had drawn many people in. But I miss their older music. When Map of the Soul came out I was so excited because it sounded like their older music!

Their discography is only 8 years old! But they love music so much that they keep churning it out, especially because it is based on their own feelings and experiences as they grow as people.

2 Cool 4 Skool was their first album in 2013, but No More Dream was their first song. They do write and produce their music but they also work with their in house team and foreign writers and producers too.

Suga has been called ‘the Korean Eminem’ because he can rap so fast. His solo artist name is ‘Agust D’ (Suga backwards and the TD refers to the town he’s from) and you should check the track ‘Agust D’ to get a peak at how he can go. Enjoy the rabbit hole!
