Please fo not watch Itslian Armys brilliant explaination of Spring Day unless you are feeling robust. The incomprehensible actions of the authorities that resulted jn the death of so many people mostly school children made me do fuming angry..... and there was nothing I could zbout it. The trouble bout anger where there is no positive way of responding is can make you feel very down. Ghis is a beautiful song and a genius video with so.much meaning. Italian ARMY us exceptionally informative. You just have to be prepared. I wasn't. I have watched it several times now with reactors.

I think Rotten Mango Seowl Ferry video explains it better, less confusing, you won't need to read subtitles Stephanie is Korean American fluent in English and is a fantastic story teller, you won't be disappointed, Italian army did a good enough job, but you have subtitles on the bottom then up top, bottom so on and so on, plus you hear them speaking in Italian I assume what you are reading, it's just very distracting

Black Swan is actually really deep! It's about a creator's fear of losing their passion for art. In this instance, BTS wondering what it would feel like to no longer love music. It's based on a quote by Martha Graham, "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." These feelings are reflected in lyrics like "The heart does not beat anymore, when listening to music" "Oh that would be my first death I been always afraid of" "If this can no longer make me cry, If this can no longer make my heart flutter, Perhaps, this will be how I die once" "No song can reach me anymore, I cry out a silent cry". Black Swan and ON is on the same album, Map of the Soul: 7, which released early 2020 right before Covid. In 2018 they'd suffered severe burnout and depression, and were so lost and done that they nearly disbanded. I personally feel like this album was them diving deeper into those emotions and their inner selves.

"Blood Sweat and Tears" is based off of the book "Demian" by Herman Hesse. It's about growing up and temptation; about needing to accept that you have a darker side as well and that you can't be whole unless you embrace all parts of yourself. The German above the alcove is a quote from the book as well as the spoken part by RM. The angel Jin kisses represents the god Abraxas, by kissing him, he is giving into temptation and accepting his darker side.

There is so much art, books and mythology references in this mv! Every scene is so meaningful. If you are having trouble to identify those references, there are an explanation video, aldo I haven't seen any which would touch all references. It's so special about BTS art. You take a song and you can dig its meaning and references fir next few days. Those are not only songs or mv, but art in its best.

All of that is correct except that the German above the mirror is not a quote from Demian is a quote by Nietzsche which means, “One must still have chaos within one’s self to give birth to a dancing star.” But don’t feel bad because it’s an easy mistake to make.

I really enjoy your reactions. I have one hint for you - many, many times when BTS songs appear to be about romantic love, the songs very often are deeper than that, or are talking about relationships that aren't necessarily romantic at all (i.e., Spring Day is about the loss of friends (for SUGA it was because the friend went to jail, for RM it was because he moved to Seoul and became famous, in the MV it's (probably) about the tragedy of a ferry disaster in Korea)...BS&T is more about the relationship humans have with temptations (at its simplest level anyway)...Black Swan is about an artist's relationship with their art (and the fear of losing their passion for it: "A dancer dies twice...and the first death is the most painful."). So, when you see lyrics that seem to be about love, they probably aren't. Even their 3-album series about love - the Love Yourself series - isn't only about romantic love...the songs on those albums are deeper than that, too.
@reneezemlock7880

"Black Swan" is based off of a Martha Graham quote (she's a famous dancer and teacher) "A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." They are talking about the fear of losing their love for music and dance or losing their ability to create or perform.

13:57 "obviously it's a break-up song"...actually both RM and Yoongi wrote this song/their verses about friends or people in their lives they were feeling distant from. Yoongi wrote his verse about a specific friend that he also wrote Dear My Friend about. I think Yoongi is the type of person who is just very loyal and feels deeply for those who are in his life, not only romantically but platonically as well...I think the same can be said for all of them. The song itself is about longing and missing people, but the MV visuals are strongly believed to be based on the Sewol ferry incident, which I'm sure many in the comments have already mentioned. The best explanation break-down I've seen is from an Italian Army, which I'm sure has also been highly recommended.

13:53 Suga's verse is more about a "breakup" with a friend... he lost him to drugs "We changed, you know?[..] I miss you, honestly, but I'll erase you / 'Cause it hurts less than to blame you" From what I understood from his other song "Dear My Friend" (on D2 Agust D album) and interviews, they were childhood best friends who promised to "eat the world up" with their music but his friend got caught up in drugs and other stuff (even trying to get suga into that kind of stuff) "The you I used to know is gone, and the me you used to know is gone And I know it's not just because of time that we changed" Cant wait for you to start your Agust D journey when the time comes, there is so much more context to this and i feel that now it's not the moment to get into details ^^;

Queen Spring Day is basically the second Korean national anthem lol. It’s the longest charting song on Melon (continuously for seven years since its release in 2017), has the most likes, the most unique listeners, and is about to become the first song in Melon history to hit a billion streams. It rises on the charts every spring and every time BTS releases any other music and ARMY recently recharted it again on the iTunes and Billboard sales charts the day after the last members of BTS enlisted, to express our sadness. It’s a really special and important song to the fandom and to Korea as a whole. 💜

Thanks for your reaction. Don't worry if you don't get all the meaning of their videos, it happened to all of us... Like other comments say, you should watch the italian army explanation of Spring Day. The song was wrotten thinking on a friendship break up, talks about melancholy... But the MV has so many simbolism about the ferry tragedy where more than 200 students died on a spring day. It's about loss and building resilience • Blood, Sweat & Tears: the video is inspired by Hermann Hesse's book, "Demian" The 1919 novel tells a story of a boy who fluctuates between the "world of light" and "world of illusion" This song is part of the Wings Album. The entire album is inspired by the novel Demian Emil Sinclair's Youth Story, by Hermann Hesse. The novel recounts Sinclair's passage from childhood to maturity, going through moments of dreams, lies and destruction. It reflects the transition from innocence to falling into the temptation of adulthood Abraxas was commonly the name given to a god who symbolized both good and evil. This being was initially a kind god who was pious with all those who behaved correctly, but became totally ruthless with bad people Here is and explanatory video in case you may want to check it out👇🏻 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5tlgAUE6yjg.htmlsi=jSTyp7fJPnvVhcuI • Black Swan: The song refers to the internal struggle of an artist falling out of love with their art. The song lends voice to the band’s darkest fears-the music they do will one day cease to touch or move them. Yet, every time they come face to face with this “Black swan” within themselves, they hear voices calling out from deep within their hearts and are stricken with the realization that music is all they have. This track is a confession of an artist who has truly learned what music means to himself At the same time, it represents the hope and internal strength that we must have to hold on to what has made us feel alive at some time, not to give up, only we will be able to face our shadows and stop being our worst enemy • ON: here BTS externalizes the confusion they face inside, the indecision of what the best path is and who the people they should keep by their side really are. They feel disoriented and are aware of the fear they are facing. They talk about how difficulties and their fears can break them, but instead they choose to use it as a springboard to fight and bring out the best in themselves Greetings from Mexico 💜

Hi!! Thank you so much for your reactions, I love when people (especially reactors) are respectful of BTS and they dive more into the meanings of their songs and their musicality rather than going "oh, their dancing is cool" or "it's so catchy". When I found BTS I was at one of my lowest points in my life. See, like you, I struggle with my mental health... autistic burnout, depression, crippling anxiety, agoraphobia, C-PTSD... I've been in very, very bad places and have done some really bad things to myself... tried to just, not be here, several times. I was feeling broken and desolate, I couldn't get out of bed, much less go out of the house and panic attacks were almost a daily enemy for me when I finally found them. And they have changed my life for the better. Excuse the long comments I'll be leaving hehe I just love explaining just how deep their songs are! They usually write songs that speak about mental health, society & social issues, speaking up for the youth and self-love. They are also incredible lyricists and often use a lot of metaphors, double (or triple, even quadruple) entendres, psychological, literary and philosophical themes, real events, etc. Fans like myself love them for their music along with their amazing personality, hard work, altruism and kindness. All their songs have meanings behind their lyrics. Some information about Spring Day: 1) RM & SUGA started writing the lyrics for this song after a long conversation they had that was sort of a bonding experience for them too. They were speaking about friends each one of them had lost contact with, for different circumstances, and about how much they missed them... How they missed when their lives were more simple, when friendships were more innocent, pure and uncomplicated. For example, they lost contact with childhood friends when they moved to Seoul to become artists; later on they felt betrayed by other friends who criticised their decision of becoming an idol group; they also hadn't been able to see certain current friends in a long time, due to their life-style of constant traveling, etc. (It is also speculated that Suga's rap verse is about the same ex-friend that he speaks about in the last track of his mixtape D-2, song called "Dear My Friend".) 2) Spring Day music production took a long time to finish. Something didn't seem to be working out, and it was finally finished when a foreign producer got involved in the track. This song had many many edits. (Even more than usual.) V also showed us an snippet of the demo of his own version that he submitted during Spring Day writing process. (I think RM's demo was the one that was selected though.) 3) When Spring Day was released, as one of the few additional tracks in the repackage album called "We Never Walk Alone", the song became a huge hit in Korea. It has remained on the Korean charts for years. From it's debut on 2017 to the current date, it has never dropped from the top hot 100 there. (I don't remember if Gaon or Melon charts.) Admittedly, ballads are a very popular music genre in Korea, but... The main reason for this local success was because many people found comfort on it, specially the familles of people who had passed away, due to illness or accidents or suicide. The song is about losing and missing loved ones... So the people related it to the feeling of longing for those who aren't here anymore. 4) BTS and Big Hit were aware of how well received was Spring Day and had heard stories shared by fans who connected with the song... They decided to incorporate references to the Sewol Ferry incident in the music video and the choreography for the track. The music video also has references to the film "Snowpierce" (science-fiction post-apocalyptic distopian film directed by Bong Joon-ho) and the novel "The ones who walk away from the Omelas" by Ursula K. Le Guin. I'm not going to explain the entire plot of this movie and book, but, they have common topics about criticizing the division of social classes and people living a life of privilege at the expense of minorities, children, the marginalized, or other people who are forced to stay underprivileged. (I recommend both by the way, they're good.) 5) A lot of Korean people were able to use Spring Day to mourn the Sewol Ferry Tragedy that happened a couple years before (in 2014). It is widely believed/theorised that BTS and Big Hit incorporated imagery of this event both on the MV and the choreography (choreography shows them forming the shape of a boat for example), and this has been somewhat confirmed by the members. Basically, there was a national tragedy in South Korea known as the Sewol Ferry tragedy. I am not going to explain it in detail, but many high school students lost their lives by drowning. This incident was particularly cruel, traumatic and horrific because there was corruption from the government involved in why the ship was in bad conditions, plus the entire thing was being recorded live from the coast... It was hellish. Families and people saw the events happening on real time... People gathered in the coast to help with small boats, while the government did nothing but deny their mistakes and try to difficult the rescuing efforts. The attitude of the Captain of the boat was also cowardly and caused many more deaths, many of which could have been prevented if the authorities had been responsible and honorable. Plus, the Korean government tried to save face by silencing the news and trying to ban the people and artists from even speaking about what had happened. (The poor management of this was one of the arguments used on trial, during the impeachment of the former President of South Korea, years later.) For a more thorough explanation plese refer to: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Tye1ONFeKis.html (MV Explained) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FrT4a_Fw6pE.html (MV Explained 2 - Goes deeper into the Sewol Tragedy) 6) It was reported, many years later, that BTS and some crew from Big Hit, made anonymous donations to the families who lost their kids during the Sewol Ferry accident, and even visited some of their homes to give their condolences. This was earlier in their career, by the way. 7) ARMY's nickname for this song are "The Eternal Queen" and "Queen Spring Day". There are many running jokes about how this single is competitive and how it stubbornly comes running to rise higher again in the music charts, every single time BTS releases a new title track or single. If ARMYs remember some facts more accurately than me, feel free to correct me on the comments. You can add information too. :) - The ferry was carrying more than six times the weight it was originally designed for to make extra money per trip. Most of the illegal modifications placed the weight at the top and when it shifted it made the ferry tip over. - It wasn't the usual captain that day. He had raised concerns about the safety onboard and had been removed for it. - The captain on the day is currently serving 36 years for murder and several crew members were convicted of murder, negligence, violating marine laws, etc. (This is all from the very detailed and graphic Wikipedia page on the tragedy) - While it's true that the song wasn't written about the Sewol tragedy, the video, album cover and title definitely refers to it. - Some years ago, in an Esquire interview, Jin was asked about Spring Day. To quote from the article: Fair enough, but there is an undeniable allusion, in both the song’s video and its cover concept, to a specific incident in recent South Korean history. “Spring Day” was released just a few years after the sinking of the Sewol ferry, one of the country’s biggest maritime disasters, in which a poorly inspected, overloaded ferry toppled in a sharp right turn. Hundreds of high school students drowned, having obeyed orders to stay in their cabins as the boat was going down. According to some reports, the South Korean government actively tried to silence entertainers who spoke out against it, with the Korean Ministry of Education fully banning the tragedy’s commemorative yellow ribbons in schools. I ask whether it was about a specific sad event, and Jin tells me, “It is about a sad event, as you said, but it is also about longing.” The song kept the disaster front of mind for young Koreans and for the media, indirectly leading to the impeachment and removal of then president Park Geun-hye I always say... You can argue about their talent, their sound, their image, you can claim that other groups and artists are "better", but you can't take away who BTS are as people and what they have done for others. Even if their music wasn't for me, I couldn't ever hate them knowing how good people they are. Spring Day is only one of the many reasons why I have so much respect for these men: songs like Baepsae, Am I Wrong, N.O, Strange, even their debut No More Dream; their Love Myself campaign, their donations to charity, their support for BLM and SAH, them constantly encouraging the younger generation to take action and to speak up, them delivering comfort and hope... There's just so much more to them than "just the music". They stand for something. They've always had a message to spread. And ARMY, with all its flaws and apparent "toxicity", has become much more than just a fandom of a boy band. So whenever I see someone talk shit about the boys, I just assume they either don't know anything about them and what they've done, or they're just generally not good people. Because how could you possibly hate someone with such a good heart who only spreads positivity.

RM and Suga have said they wrote Spring Day thinking about missing people/friends they've lost. Suga's verse in particular references a former friend of his that he also sings about in his solo song Dear My Friend (heartbreakingly beautiful song, btw). That being said, the music video makes several veiled references to the Sewol Ferry tragedy in which many people lost their lives. I would personally really recommend the Italian Army explanation for Spring Day to understand a lot of the visuals in the video and the political significance of the song. Spring Day has never left Korean charts since its release. It holds a very special place in their hearts because it was a source of comfort for many people during a very difficult time.

The black swan mv is basically depicts their fear of losing their passion for music where it all started... They are expressing how their heart no longer races while making music because of the continuous pressure and making albums. And they express this fear in this song...So it is slightly inspired by the movie black swan in which the dancer dies twice once when they stopped dancing and the other death is the real death..so in the mv they are telling how losing passion for music like the dancer in the mv can be their first death and they fear the moment where they fear will turn to reality ........ Edit: i dont know if my short like explanation is fully accurate or if it helped you but i hope it helped a little bit. Your reactions to BST was everything 🤣🤣🤣. The song is about temptation and leaving behind one's innocence. Kissing the statue was Jin succumbing to the temptation. That's why he cracked at the end. There's a lot of references to good and evil in the video all down to the background of the museum where you have an angel on one side and the devil on the other. It's inspired by a book called Demian by Herman Hesse, that was the part where Namjoon was talking. It was a quote from that book. This song was their first more seductive concept, because this was also the time that Jungkook came out of age.

I really enjoyed that you dipped your toes into BTS' music by doing these deep dives. I'm all for checking out their title song MVs in order. It gives you a glimpse into how they began (more focused on hip hop but with other genres included which showed the group's musical range). It also shows how their music, style & themes have evolved artistically. BTS's discography is vast & amazing, and you'll get a true sense of that if you listen to their albums (their B-sides are gems!). If you want to try album reviews, you can generally put it on RU-vid if you upload an album in parts of no more than 3 to 4 songs each. I'm here for the journey.

Like many others have already said, their lyrics are always much deeper. DKDKTV is a good channel for explanations of a lot of BTS MV’s. They also explain a lot about Korean language used in the songs and Korean reverences in the Video’s. The explanation of the Italian Army about Spring day and how this can relate to the Sewol Ferry is beautifully done and very heartbreaking. The song was not specifically written for this accident, but it does fit . 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I hope you watch the explanation videos for all of these mvs. There's a reason behind even the tiniest of details. Spring Day is about loss of friends. Mv also refers to a tragic ferry incident that happened in South Korea. BTS also donated money to the families of the victims. Blood, sweat tears is about temptation while going through adolescence. Black Swan is about an artist's biggest fear of losing their passion for their art. On is pretty self explanatory but an explanation mv might be helpful for the actual mv
@shuga75
@shuga75 2 месяца назад
If you get a chance to watch the Black Swan MV again, take a look at the shadows throughout the video, esp early during Suga and RM rap sections. As people have already explained, the song has to do with an artist's fear of losing passion/ability for their art. At the beginning of the song the shadows are looming large over the group threatening to swallow them up, but as they confront their fears and gain their sense of self, they are now in control of the shadow (aka JK at end of the MV). The whole Map of the Soul 7 aka MOTS7 album dealt with the Jungian concepts of "the self", namely Persona, Shadow, and Ego. All the songs map to one or more of these concepts. Also each of the rappers had solo songs on the album, Intro:Persona (RM), Interlude: Shadow (Suga) and Outro:Ego (J-Hope), that are worth exploring.

"They're really good dancers" Ma'am, BTS was the standard of dancing for a good while. After years of work, awards won, and money well earened, they started to relax more when it came to perfectly synchronized, and extremely difficult choreos. They wanted to ease things up, and focus on each individual personality and style. They already exhausted themselves to the limit in order to get so far, so they have earned their rest. Nowadays their choreos aren't even close to the extremely synchronized ones the used to perform. They're all still so sharp and energized, though. And my my, Namjoon and Jin worked extremely hard when it came to dancing, because they're not dancers, not at all lol

Many people interpret Spring Day as a tribute song for the Sewol Tragedy that happened in 2014. Although lyrically, as explained by RM himself, the song is about missing a loved one (friend, partner, etc.) and wanting to be with them, the bittersweet feeling of nostalgia. The music video itself has factors which seem like a call back and tribute to the tragedy and many survivors, loved ones and parents of the victims find comfort in this song. It is actually one of THE most beloved songs in South Korea and hasn't left the charts since it was released in 2017 (7 year long charting song) and it will soon become the first and only song in Melon (music platform like spotify in South Korea) to hit 1B streams. The song has been nicknamed by ARMY as "The Queen" lol

Lore tied to the themes of the songs themselves, thematic/psychological lore tied to the albums/album series these song are a part of, sociopolitical lore, and lore regarding BTS’ overarching storyline (the Bangtan Universe or BU) ….so confusion is definitely fine (esp for first timers) 😂

Thank you for your reaction! I liked it very much. The other comments already mentioned rough explanations for the songs, but I'm gonna repeat it anyways. (Your reaction to BS&T was relatable btw. 😂) 1. Spring Day: written to mourn the loss of friendship, can be seen as missing a loved one in general, but the MV is seen as having lots of references to the Sewol Ferry tragedy and is therefore often interpreted in that context 2. Blood, Sweat & Tears: deals with concepts of temptation, good and evil, loss of innocence and growing up that was inspired by the novel Demian by Hermann Hesse 3. Black Swan: a song about how losing your love for your art (music in this case) can feel like a kind of death 4. ON: about BTS continuing to do their art/on their way no matter how many difficulties they have been and are facing I think the beauty with a lot of BTS songs and MV's is, that you can interpret the song itself in a way, and then the MV adds a new layer of interpretation. So the meaning is rarely just straightforward and only one thing. So I think it's really cool to see other people's interpretations of what the songs mean before they are introduced to the lore etc. Ah, and the German quote is by Nietzsche from his work "Also sprach Zarathustra". I didn't study translation, and I couldn't find a professional one, but German is my first language, so it's roughly: You need to still have chaos within you to be able to birth a dancing star. (That's a very literal translation anyways) It's a nice quote that works well out of context. The work itself is historically a bit problematic though as it served in part as inspiration for the worldview of the nazis. It probably should be seen more as a work of literature and less as a work of philosophy as the language is excentric but quite beautiful and there are partial wisdoms in there, but the worldview is lets say... of it's time...

I don't think many BTS songs are about romantic love or break ups. Self love yes. Their psyche. Their creative process. Their turmoil and hardship. Their journey and self discovery, but not "I broke up with my girlfriend". A few yes, but I would think of any other meaning before that when listening to their music.

Spring Day is more universal abput a sense of longing that can apply to so many situations, it makes me sad when people reduce it to being about grief or about a specific tragedy. Not to diminish the powerful video and all the references, just speaking about the song. The lyrics are so beautiful and they end on a hopeful note, which counters the earlier lines and is key to the message 🙂

Just a couple of notes to add about Spring Day (as others have covered it so well). It is affectionally known as The Queen, because it means so much to so many people. And, since it's release on February 13, 2017, it has NOT left The Korean Charts. That's 7 1/2 years charting consistently. A record in Korea (and probably many other countries too). That is the enduring power of Spring Day. A song about loss and longing; about missing someone you can no longer be with (for a variety of reasons - including, but not limited to, grief). It's a song that expresses emotions we are all familiar with, that we all relate to, and resonate with. And that is a large reason why it is so beloved. And then their is the MV...

Thanks for stepping outside your comfort zone to give our boys a try. They are well worth it. You picked 4 of the deepest songs/videos to put in this reaction. Our Tannies rarely just sing about surface things. They are truly deep and caring, always wanting to help others with their music and lyrics. To that end, many need explanation videos that others put together to help us understand all the nuances and depth of the songs/videos. I LOVE music that has meaning so I was immediately drawn to BTS. One of the first MVs I watched was Blood, Sweat & Tears. OMG I was hooked for life. It is THE song/MV that made me Army. The fact I needed an explanation video told me I was home. They paid homage to a deep book for this song/video and it was extremely well done. Then add on to that, the entire set was built. They do that for the majority of their MVs. The sets are incredible. It is very informative to watch the behind the scenes videos of making the MVs when it comes to BTS. The one for this is amazing to watch. I highly recommend watching the MV, an explanation video and/or Doolset lyrics, the behind the scenes video, a dance practice and live performance (BTS is better live than recorded) for each song. It may seem like a lot, but it is so worth it. When you do that, you then begin to truly understand them. And Army is always there for the ride. To see someone come in knowing nothing and then watch their eyes open with appreciation, if not love, for BTS warms our hearts. I would also suggest that you use the Doolset website for understanding lyrics. It isn’t a video, it is translations of the songs from Korean to English and explanation of Korean words or phrases we can’t understand that makes your whole mind look differently at the song. Many of the “lyric” videos (not from BangtanTV) are incorrect in their translations (or don’t provide the full meaning) and even color the wrong person singing at times. There are a couple better than others though. Perhaps the above is too much for you to do in your video reaction, but I would highly recommend for your personal consumption if possible. They also have an entertainment show called RunBTS on youtube that is amazing and fun. You learn their personalities and how close they are as a family far above just being a group. There are also paid shows like Bon Voyage (where they travel together) and In The Soop (filmed during the pandemic at a remote location where they hung out and had fun). I could write a novel on all of the content, movies, documentaries, solo projects, the Bangtan Universe story line through several songs/albums, Weverse (platform to watch media, post messages, see when they come live to visit with us, and purchase albums, merch and membership in Army among other things) and much, much more. I’m a sliver Army and in my entire life there has not been a musical artist/group like BTS. I have more respect and love for them than any other artist/group or “celebrity” I’ve ever known. Their musical talent is off the charts, but them as people are what makes me love them. They are the best of good humans. Borahae! 💜

When you have a genius and a philosopher doing much of the songwriting, things tend to get deep. The other boys be playing vudeo games or sports, Joonie be reading books on philosophy and Yoongi is thinking deep thoughts and scribbling in his notebook. Yoongi is like a person thst you climb a mountain to ask him a question and then he drops a wisdom bomb on you. Ha! I think starting at the beginning is a great idea. People's first exposure tends to be "the pandemic trio" - Dynamite, Permission to Dance and Butter, which are songs I love, but they are somewhat misleading about who BTS really is. Enjoy the journey!

Spring Day was written about lost friendships, specifically friends from RM and Suga's pasts. Suga has another song, under his Agust D moniker, which discusses the same friend. The MV is a little hard to follow, its a bit all over the place with its references, but they all have similar thymes of loss and holding on to those memories of better times. There is a compelling fan theory explaination video, that the MV is a tribute of the lives that were lost during the sinking of the Sewol ferry in 2014.

I really appreciate the effort you put into trying to understand lyrics and videos. Something to keep in mind is that BTS songs are often an exploration of a topic, rather than the narration of a single story, and the rapline especially will often write their verses looking at the topic from different angles. This gives them a more universal appeal, in my opinion. Spring Day is about loss as a concept, something we all experience in various ways. However, the music video also has many references to the Sewol Ferry Incident - there is a great explanation video by Italian Army that I highly recommend, it should help clear up some of your confusion. Looking forward to your next videos!

The ON official MV is basically a mini movie full of drama and cinematography that is incredible. Then they did the manifesto in LA I believe. It was choreographed by Sienna who was the first woman you saw in the video. She is with the dance group The Lab. There is also another version on a football field (Suga isn’t in it because of his shoulder surgery). They made a statement with this song. Bring on the pain, the hatred, whatever problems and they will survive them and keep going because they are strong. That helps Army to do the same in their personal lives.

17:58 I feel like the spring day meaning could honestly apply to many things in life, but especially the feeling of lost. It could be romantic breakup, someone passing away or even distancing yourself from people who were there for you. Yoongi already said he wrote the lyrics thinking about a friendship that ended in a quite sad way. We call spring day our “queen” cause even today it never left korean charts, people relate to the song because the pain of lost is a universal feeling. If you react to the explanation of the music video by Italian Army, you’d get that this song combined with the music video approaches a more heavy topic too. But honestly, is not a song that has just one clear meaning, so i get your confusion trying to analyze things.
@marihobistan
@marihobistan 2 месяца назад
35:14 the blood sweat and tears meaning is really deep, goes with the story of the book Demian which is about the balance between good and evil, giving in to the worlds desires, and temptations. Jin kissing the statue simbolizes him acknowledging his “evil” side. He’s the one to do that first as he’s the older in the group, notice that the younger ones where not dealing with that stuff yet, still in a child like state (the bike simbolizes that). Is definitely not easy to get all of it in one watch.

On the base layer, Spring Day is about someone leaving your life, possibly passing away, and going through the stages of grief. The video, however, is a tribute to a horrible tragedy about the Sewol Ferry(they've never TRULY confirmed, but Army has pretty much come to realize it). There's a lot of explanation videos on it that would be amazing to watch. It has stayed on the charts since it released in Korea because of the depth of meaning of it.
