Referencing the dance scene, j-hope mentioned boogaloo and King tut. Both RM and jhope mentioned some korean hiphop legends like dynamic duo, verbal jint and epik high. Both RM and Suga's first exposure to hiphop was actually Epik high, and to be specific a song called Fly. Later they explored the history of hiphop on their own. RM started listening to Nas. One of Suga's first albums he bought was by eminem. For jhope, his first introduction to the hiphop scene was through street dance and specifically songs like chicken noodle soup. Later after he started living with rm and suga he dived into j. Cole. Back in 2011 and 2012, the rap trio used to run a mini hiphop school where they taught both hiphop history and dance to the vocalists in the group. These boys were dedicated.

(Mixed girl born in the early 70s here). Nothing makes me happier than seeing the community I grew up in learn about BTS (esp RM - my bias) and see that they arent a superficial boy band. They love hiphop, they have put in the work, and they write their own music. They are the truth & they have brought so much joy into my life since I joined army. In this Bangtan shit for life as they say.

Hip Hop Lover/Phile is Track 4 on BTS - Dark&Wild album. Release date: August 20, 2014. The song song itself is nine years old. This video is of one of their 2015 Japan concert tour, which was posted 5 years ago. 🙂At inception BTS was a Hip Hop group, but over time the group branched creatively into other genres of music. 50 years of Hip Hop as of yesterday, and this just shows the impact Hip Hop has around the world. Some of the artists they named were Korean Hip Hop artists. 💜

This song was from 9 years ago and they’re like giving their homage to their influences and inspiration. That hip-hop became a big part of their origins story. It’s not like a random saying okay, I’m going to randomly rap in my songs now because it’s edgy or trendy. It goes deeper for the guys.

BTS debuted in 2013 as a Hip Hop Idol group. They are students of hip hop. Suga and RM are from underground rap, and Suga's first album was Eminem. RM was a poet before becoming a rapper, at age 13. Suga was a rapper and producer, songwriter, before signing with Big Hit to become a trainee for BTS. They really got a lot of backlash from underground rappers, and from the KPOP industry for bringing Western Classic hip hop to KPOP with their own messages and lyrics. It wasn't a thing for groups to write their own music back then, so BTS were not the norm. They talked about their stories and their messages in their own music. It took them a while to make it. They were told they wouldn't make it and their company almost went bankrupt.

Would love to see you guys react to Outro:tear live from wembley It’s a rap line track that is amazing.. about possible disbandment in 2017… as they reached huge global success they were physically and emotionally exhausted and overwhelmed… but ultimately decided to keep going because they couldn’t disappoint Army. BTS live concerts are all out They leave nothing in the tank and there is no warm up act.. it’s just them for more than 2 hours.. until you footage of them injured, collapsing, sucking oxygen you just don’t know how much they want to connect completely with Army…

RM learn to rap from listening to NAS ( sometimes , specially in the beginning of his career he sound similar to NAS lol) And learn melodic rap by listening to Drake so he is also is a BIG fan of him. Thankfully he met both and in both meetings he was so nervous lol but they were really nice to him. React to some RM solo too like wildflower , still life and this doesn’t have Mv but is one of my favorites collabs of him is called Rush is ft krizz Kaliko , is so good look into a lyrics video.

The rapline is the foundation of BTS, while all the members are pillars the group can’t stand without the three rap line members build the true foundation lyric and music wise. In their trainee days the rapline members forced, I am not joking, begged the maknae line (Jimin, V, Jung Kook) to listen to some music they gave them on a stick so they would get the importance of music and lyrics. These guys were influenced by them and you can see that on how they write their lyrics especially RM who is known to be the poet out of the group. This song was published in 2014 a year after debut, THEY WROTE AND ATE WITH THAT. The rapline in BTS are rappers who became Idols. Rappers write their own lyrics.

Everyone who is famous in music has bangers in their bags, but BTS has history and soul, despite what genres they are mixing together. With BTS, fans are not waiting for that new banger. It is waiting to read another page of BTS story. That is why BTS never disappoints their fans despite what genre they choosing to do. Genre of BTS music essentially is BTS and fans are here for a ride. That is why fans listen to their solo work despite the spectrum between them being so wast. Because all of it, no matter how you spin it, is still BTS music and part of BTS story.
