Can I just say that I really like you. Your genuine love for BTS just shines through, and it really warms my heart. These 7 young men are amazing, and I can't wait to see what they all have in store for us. I'm 68 years old, and got into BTS in 2015, and QUICKLY fell down that wonderful rabbit hole. Over my many years, I've experienced LOTS of music from the Beatles to MJ and beyond, but no one else has ever made me feel the things BTS does. They are incredible, talented, humble, hard working, guys who have entered my life, consumed me whole, and I couldn't be happier.

Me too! BOWIE, Beatles, MJ…but you are completely right…no one has had an effect on me like these guys. I was fortune to meet them in 2019. My friend had connections and we got a photo done. I was a bowling ball back then. Close to 300 lbs. Even though I was following them since 2017…meeting them had this huge effect on me. I’ve lost 100 lbs since meeting them. I am wearing clothes I have not worn in almost a decade(I can’t believe I kept them that long). Anyway…completely agree with you!

OMG couldnt agree with you more. I'm 47 years old and have been following BTS for many years and they are the only band that I follow their stories as well as their music. watching them and listening to them seriously makes me happy. I'm normally not a positive person, I'm super introverted and outside of work I dont ever socialize. so BTS has made me feel I'm part of something genuine and I love it

He is actually bringing back the 80s/90s gangster punk grunge rock style back even though it’s risky and I haven’t heard this type of style in a while also this isn’t even his title song his title song and album is coming at July 25th. (Also his “screams” etc is pretty muted because it feels like he is trapped in a box) this is a type of genre some people like and some people dont but you have to say Jhope killed this genre

"Somebody's favourite song again" "That's half my life" "I want some more"- I guess he is talking about creating music (with BTS) that doesn't allow him to express himself fully. "Mutual relationships, so good for me" - He's aware that doing what he's expected to do (as a BTS member) benefits him but he wants more, he wants to be able to be himself as an artist - "I say more". "I'm thirsty." "I'm doing it all".

When the camera pans out of the office & you see the double casement window, someone noted that the window might represent BTS (logo), which means that while J-Hope is progressing as an artist, he won't forget where he's been & will come back to them again.

I'm so proud of Hobi and didn't expect this at all. I'm loving the beat of this song and I love the drums and guitars and this side of our sunshine is wrecking me badly. This is a different side of hobi I thought I'd never see also I love the MV aswell and I love how his voice sounds as well as how rocky this sounds and I'm also loving this néw look on him aswell and I love how he raps. Basically words can't explain how I'm feeling right now about this song besides being bias wrecked. Hobi has set the bar so damn high for me now, Bangtan chapter 2 is already killing me now. He isnt Hobi anymore he is Hoseok

The book ‘Fight Club’ itself has been written in a very poetical and rhythmic sense which I think was a very genius thing on J-hopes part to include scenes and not only that, I have a feeling he’s read the book. This song and video has been carefully crafted and I have so much respect for this man words can’t even express.

If anyone didnt catch it, heres Vs cameo at 4:05 and the BTS logos at 2:37..People say its Donnie Darko, no its fight club. The raw masculine urge to break out of everything, break boundaries and achieve success. Hobi/Jack /Tyler embodies this. hes hungry again. And i feel the other members are too. LOVE THIS

I watched the original MORE video and slowed it down at 2:37. There are definitely BTS logos on the walls in the “repressed office” room. Could the reason why the logos are in there be in reference to how as a K-pop group, even though BTS has had more liberties than other groups, it was part of the inability for OT7 to really grow as individuals and to express their true personalities and feelings?

Rock music 🎶 and hippop fits for Jhope's beautiful strong unique voice. Jhope is not a street dancer any more but he is the hardest work place performer 💜 😄 😆 He creates his unique metal Hip-hop in Rock 🎸 👌 😎 😳 💀 I love Jhope who shows our dark society and copy clowns 🤡 😆 zombies 🧟‍♂️ for idols into Sunlights 🌞 This is the masterpiece metaphor that he creates clowns and zombies for idols. From EGO TO EMO! come on Hobi!🤗 Hobi brought us --- Rock vibes! It was very interesting bcoz we don't see any glimpse of BTS vibes like being "sweet & wholesome" which really intentionally done to take us away from the shadow that he's from "BTS". I'm so happy that they get to have a solo projects and showcase the different side of them yes we get to see that on their mixtapes but it's really different that they get a chance to explore more without compromising the task within the group.

The sound of his voice when he's in the white jumpsuit "in his head/in his box" is far away too. Like you're hearing him through the wall. He really just puts so much thought into his work. But he delivers it in such an abstract way, sometimes with three or four degrees of reference (this refers to that which refers to this other thing) that you really have to dig to get to it. I spend more time with j-hope's lyrics than anyone else's. There's so many cool points of connection. Also, the protagonist in Fight Club is named "Jack Moore." So "Jack" like "Jack in the Box" and "Moore" like "MORE." GENIUS. Also, a couple other things that you won't catch bc you don't speak Korean--the word 달리 (dal-li) means "differently" in Korean so the bar "drunk in the artistic painting, keep hypin' up Dali" could be both a reference to the surrealist painter and a reference to Hoseok's endeavor to experiment with another side of his artistry. And as a surrealist, Dali is known for work that portrays the world around him "differently." So many layers in just that one bar. There are similar revelations with the reference to "kit kat" which has verbal and symbolic allusions to success on a new endeavor (again, on theme for him taking on new challenges and styles) in Japanese. He always does this though--Hope World and his solo songs like Ego and Just Dance are littered with these references and double entendres that interweave and connect at multiple points. He really is such a complex writer.

Until you mentioned it, the "Fight Club" angle never occurred to me. It makes so much sense. I also think the boss might represent the idol system, and the office rebellion is how he wants to break out of that life to be more authentic in himself. Thanks for sharing this, and for your insights. This is such a cool theory. (The song and vid are also completely fire.)

Great reaction, I think you're onto something with your analysis. I really think J-Hope has been boxed into that person of the happy cheerful dancing rapper - he's clearly more than that. Similarly BTS has been boxed in with the success of Dynamite & Butter - they are so much more than these 2 songs. I think this song is going to bring Hobi new fans who are not traditional Army & I can see this playing big on the more Indy scenes here in Australia (god it would blow my mind if he won Triple J's Hottest 100) where BTS isn't that well known (yet). Its exciting & I'm very proud of Hobi. Can't wait for the album release!

You're the first reactor to mention Fight Club that I've seen. I only saw the connection from a Twitter post - the office and hallway are basically the same. I've never watched the movie - didn't think it was my kind of thing when it came out (forgive me, but I thought it was about a literal fight club, as in gangster street boxing or something - not a psychological or social commentary kind of movie. Now it looks interesting.) But the fact that the main character's name is Jack Moore [Jack (in the box, who wants MORE] is just brilliant. The whole concept is brilliant. We so often learn something new from BTS/BTS member content. Like you said, sure, we could just enjoy it as surface entertainment, but BTS often put in the effort to give us something more thoughtful and layered. It's why they deserve the demographically diverse fandom they have.

That was fun watching you be "exposed" to this. I love the metaphor of Hobi having this part of him being all boxed up. I get the impression that he is allowing himself to be so free and not just Mr. Sunshine/J-Hope. Being happy happy all the time is not sustainable. I have believed for years that Hobi and Jin have been so dedicated to showing only the happy side of themselves as their BTS personal that they had hidden their authentic selves. Jin said it one time that people pay to be entertained and he feels a responsibility to provide that joy filled image. The level of stress and pain that had to bring by wearing the jester mask must be so extreme. I really want to see Lucas experience this too. I think that would be so much fun. This right here is what music has been missing. I just talked with my husband about the lack of rock/ heavy metal/ punk in music these days. Hobi just put it back on the table. This hits so hard. I can see a mosh pit and head banging. The lyrics were good, too. 😂

I am a product of 60’s music. My 18 yr old granddaughter turned me on to BTS 4 yrs ago. I am Army.. they are the best group and so tight together, I ever saw or heard. When I watched this MV by myself, all I can say is that it literally BLEW MY MIND!! My mouth was hanging open and I didn’t even know it until I came to.. Hobie is like a drug...I want MORE!!! Also another possible reference to fight club.. the album name is Jack in the Box so people are kind of giving this other persona of Hobi’s the name “Jack” and this track is called More. While, in Fight Club, the narrator doesn’t technically have a specific name, in the movie he’s called Jack Moore. So…Jack in the Box: title track More. 🤯

Dionysus had rap and rock elements. The rock elements were explosive in the MMA 2019 performance. It was also about being intoxicated by and with artistry. That is mentioned here and is linked to drunken painting creating a Daliesque world (i.e. a surreal world where nothing conforms to usual meaning or formal conventions). The song and mv are so provocative and smart. I think you are right about fight club and others have also noted that the mv suggests that reference. I noticed the box is open in the room where things are flying in the air after the hospital room scene. It suggests an escape from one state to another by the end of the video when he closes the box.

🙋🏻‍♀️ Silver army here 👵🏼.....I watch several different reaction videos because I can relate to many of them. I am just amazed on the different analyzed perspective of each BTS MV and this is totally a BTS phenomenon 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don't know of any other music entertainers that garner deep into the meanings of their mv's. And this is why I love watching BTS mv reactions that delves into varied interpretations. It's a stimulating venture👏👏 💜

Jhope in bed with the mechanical cap looks like an insect. This hat is reminiscent of the jester's cap. Here Hobi reminds me of Gregor in Kafka's Metamorphosis who wakes up in bed to find that he is turning into a huge bug, which has negative connotations. This image alludes, perhaps, to Hobi becoming, transforming, into something else than himself that he may not want. He may be alluding to the the demands of the music industry that impede creativity. His skeletal, x-ray like image is a look to inner self that reveals his true desires. If you look at the images on the cover art for Blue Side, the expanded and finished version of that song, a Jack in the Box appears along with certain phrases that I think show this image, and the other symbolic imagery in the mv as a whole, have been with Hobi for some time. Has not Hobi been a jester like figure in his persona? When Jack, the jester, pops out of the box, does he not startle?

Hobie is my favourite hands down I always thought there was more to him than he was allowed to show. For me he is the most underrated and underused member of BTS. Someone actually tallied up how long had Hobie on his own singing and when they added it up all together those 4 nights in SOFI and their gig at Las Vegas in each show he had the grand total of 5 and a half minutes where he sings on his own. Hobie can dance rings around them all yet he is never really been able to show just how phenomenal he truly is and in that sense he is like Lisa from BP who is also a phenomenal dancer yet is not allowed to showcase it unless it is solo stuff. This track for me breaks Hobie out of this one dimensional hole people have put him in and he has stood up and said LOOK AT ME there is more you fail to see

Also, j-hope's Hope World (his first solo project) was based on Joules Vernes 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and he said Jack In The Box was similarly structured with narrative throughout...I wonder if it'll be based on Fight Club?

you are great watch. J Hope killed this. I'm a metal/ rock fan. BTS is the only band that took me out of that specific genre , and they are the only ones that have. J Hope slayed this. I cant wait to see what all the guys have to offer. just like J Hope has surprised us I have a feeling the other 6 will leave us just as shocked and I cant wait

Good analogy. Just to add a couple things that might tie in. J-Hopes new album is called "Jack in the Box" which totally seems to play into this MV. with him looking at his life in the box. Also the "other" Jack in the video is wearing what looks like a jesters hat. Jesters are clowns and the original jack-in-the-box toy was a clown.

Loving this so much. The style really suits his voice. I havent seen Fight Club (its on perpetual "must watch" list) but know the basic outline. So cool it has been used as inspiration for the vid. This is why I love BTS - theyre more than the genre imposed on them and theyre willing to explore out of their comfort zone. Im so proud of Jhope 💜
