I am a Fan of American Hustle Life even though some people didn't respect BTS in the show but it is only for a few episodes and to be honest it was a great lesson for the boys especially in the later episodes so I am fine with it :) Also the boys really treasure this time because they learned a lot there so yeah :)

Although their introduction to America is harsh and aggressive but i think the boys learned so much from this trip. It was their stepping stone as an artist from what they are now today. Boy in luv version directed by warren G.

I honestly can't take seeing the boys being treated this way in American hustle life, I know it's part of their journey and I know they were there to learn, but I feel like these grown men, who are supposedly teaching them something, are simply just rude and disrespectful to them and there is no justification for that
@Tae-Kim-07
@Tae-Kim-07 3 года назад
I watched AHL and agree that it has some great experiences when you get past some of the controversial moments...they learned a lot and it was tough, but they pulled through. I personally didn't find it necessary how coolio told the group that Tae was a burden on the team...maybe he didn't have the greatest first impression of Tae and maybe he exaggerated for the drama of the show, but whatever it may be I personally didn't find the need for the commentary and people who disagree are free to do so but that's just my opinion :) Overall, looking back at past BTS and present BTS it's crazy to see the growth, but they always remain humble 💜

I know I’m late. Just wanted to add my thoughts on AHL. For me, the first 2 episodes were the hardest to watch. It just seemed unnecessarily harsh. Otherwise there were some cringed moments, but I think that showed how willing they were to go outside their comfort zone. There are some iconic moments. Overall it was a good show. I’m glad I watched it. Also not in a hurry to watch it again.

The main thing I had a issue with with American hustle life is the prank that they pulled in the beginning of the show. I won’t say exactly what so I don’t spoil it for you two, but it painted black men in a bad light and overall, made me really uncomfortable. But like you said, this era was such an important piece of bts’ story. Other than that prank and many cringey moments lol, I really enjoyed watching them learn so much and I’m glad they experienced that trip

Tony was the one who gave Jimin the nickname Chim Chim because he couldn't pronounce Jimin. And Jimin's BT21 character is Chimmy so I think that was part of the inspiration behind that. :)

What really makes BTS different from other k pop idol, is that. They were never kept or chained inside a room, BANG PDNIM, gave his own resources to them to go out and explore and learn more. That's y they are well known with different things in the music world and they have learned it in that way. That's y ,,BTS is never afraid of trying out new genre. Unlike other idols. And not to forget, they actually went through more hardship for leaning than any other idol, I assume. They really deserve everything, that they have now.
@blarmy827
@blarmy827 3 года назад
I wouldn’t say that other idols are afraid of trying a new genre of music…. The problem isn’t with the idols… it’s with their companies. They pretty much have no artistic freedom whatsoever in these groups and bc the company is huge and has money… they train idols, debut them and if they don’t pop right away in their first year, then they will be rotated out bc there’s always someone newer and younger coming behind you to take your place if you don’t have major success in one year. I also don’t think you can say that bts has more hardships than other idols. They may have different kinds of hardships… like the example I just gave which considering only like 1% of idols that debut in a year will make it past their first year… that puts an extreme amount of pressure on the idols and they barely have time to establish themselves . Not having the freedom to try other genres , concepts or be able to have majority say in their music would be terrible for a true artist. They’re forced into these cookie cutter kpop idols that don’t have much to set themselves apart. Bighit was a small company that had only two idols debut at the time he started bts… so just bc bts debut didn’t do amazing.. or really well at all… they were able to evolve their music… try new things that other idols only dream of being able to control. The pressure that you can get kicked out of your group for stuff like not losing weight or being force stretched til you’re screaming … is something bts didn’t have to deal with. Other idols don’t have the option of being open and vulnerable with their fans like bts Bc of the idol culture … bts fits some criteria for idol culture but they also do a lot that nobody else would be able to get away with. Them being a small company really was blessing and a curse…. There were things that were made so much harder bc they were a small company… but in some cases it was a blessing… and who are we to determine who has suffered more in their careers? The problem isn’t the idols … the problem is the companies and it’s not fair to say stuff like that about them when we really don’t know all that they feel until they leave a company… which means they battle these problems for years before they can even acknowledge it. Bts has absolutely been through a lot of shit which is heartbreaking Bc they’re my ultimate bias…. And I don’t understand all the hate… but yeh not the fault of the idols

just before I watch the reaction, I wanted to just agree with what you said about AHL. I personally understand why some armys don't like it, but as an army since 2013, I have to disagree purely on the effect it had on the boys. Because that's exactly what they were back then. That experience is pretty valuable and I believe taught them a lot, thus it shouldn't just be disregarded as "cringy" or sth else. It's, as you said, a part of their journey, and it should be seen as a lesson because it's what it was. And I believe you will notice that it's one of the uncountable things that shape BTS the way it is today. With that being said, I'm so excited to watch the reaction!

AHL is one of the realest show. That show has soo many lessons & learning. This is not the typical happy game show that's why i think some had mixed emotions about this. Which is weird because if this was a Korean show people would be fine with it? The Korean GP was extremely critical of BTS, especially people who follow Kpop and I get that Armys are protective but I felt like it's not that different from any show about people trying to make it. Maybe I'm just used to American shows like Making the Band and stuff like that. It's obviously dramatized to make it more entertaining but that's how survival shows in Korea are like too. Definitely didn't appreciate that prank though.

My feelings exactly. Maybe it’s because I’m much older than a regular army, but for me AHL has been always the best BTS reality show. It’s a bit cringe at the beginning, but it’s raw, authentic, no filter, no make up, they get to to be them as much as possible, as much as they allows to see. This show made me cry, made me mad, made me laugh hysterically, made me love them, made me Army.

I think overall AHL was a good experience for them, because Korea and especially the music industry love to exploit and appropriate black and hip hop culture. By making BTS go to the root/the streets and have real POC artists explain to them what hip hop really is, they were able to evolve as musicians to a degree no other korean artist ever could. And they also learned how to respect the culture and not appropriate it. That's why I can definitely appreciate this show. Idk if the manhandling of the guys was necessary, but I feel like a lot was scripted too.

I know I'm late but I think they made the sub-units like that because: *BEATBOXING* Hoseok already has an experience with beatboxing even though it's on the basic side of beatboxing it's still an experience, while Jin has none that's why his with Hoseok. *DANCING* Jimin is also VERY experienced on dancing because of his contemporary dancing backround, while Namjoon doesn't so that's why too. *SINGING* Jungkook and Taehyung are vocalist and also has an experience on singing, while Yoongi doesn't because he has so much swag that it didn't fit for singing (just kidding lol) so that's why Yoongi is with them. I didn't mean this as an insult to the other members who doesn't have any experience on what they're doing at that time, but what I meant is that so the other members will also learn from the other member with experience that they are with at the mission and also they will also feel the competitiveness because the other member they're with has an experience on the mission

I love AHL because the guys leant so much and had an adventure that really made an impact on them. It didn’t change them but l think it re enforced the path they took as being the right way to do things and to believe in themselves. There are some moments that they could have lived without, but that is life , good and bad things come your way and you must learn to deal with what life gives you. The Warren G video was done in a very American style that did not suit BTS ‘s style but it was fun to watch them go along with everything they were told to do and the interaction with their mentors.

It's always annoyed me that people saw how "mean" Coolio was to BTS and immediately went to hating AHL, and hating him for how he treated the boys. Never mind the fact that when things are hard, THAT is when we learn lessons that stick with us for the rest of our lives. I'm GLAD they experienced all the hardships they did - not because they deserved to feel bad, not because they deserved to suffer, but because that stress and suffering taught the boys to be strong, to look within themselves for strength, rather than hold out a hand and wait to be handed their success. They learned to APPRECIATE what they had, because they fought for it, worked for it, and understand fully what it took to get that success. They weren't just given success and accolades for being cute and likeable - there are plenty of cute and likeable people out there. There are plenty of people with talent out there. Not all of those people manage to become successful. This is the difference - the work ethic, the struggle, the appreciation, and the humility. We love the boys for their humility - it is the hardships they went through that MADE them humble, kind, polite, appreciative, and generous. While moments in AHL were uncomfortable to watch and hard to sit through, ALL of them, including the worst moments, are what made the boys who they are now. The struggles are what make them great. We shouldn't be so quick to demonize the struggle. Of course we hate to see them hurt - but we love to see them rise above it. If no one ever had to rise above hardship, then no one would ever feel a sense of accomplishment.

I actually like American Hustle Life. It's like a school, at first you don't agree with it's rules and strictness but soon it grows on you and you realize it helped you shape into the person you are today. Everything that BTS went through in their journey of 8 or more years played a role in who they have become. Their music changed drastically with Dark & Wild. If the members were grateful for their experience with he show, well so am I.

Then I discovered Run BTS, Rookie King, Bon Voyage, etc ... And while there were debatable moments from his mentors ... The series also showed me the beautiful people which are each of the members💜 discovering their personalities and their efforts. So... Honestly I liked American hustle life, ofc there were a few cringe moments especially looking at this years later. The boys have said they still enjoyed American hustle life and there are some mentors that they really like. I think it was a good learning experience, especially since a lot of Korean artists and kpop groups get called out for cultural appropriation, I seen this show as BTS taking the time out to learn about the music and culture. Also I didn’t like the kidnapping prank but ppl should stop only blaming the ppl who were seen on tv cause bighit also played a part in that. Most of the things that happened in the show was apparently planned and some things scripted. Anyway AHL is apart of the boys music journey so I would recommend ppl still watch it.
@lpjm
@lpjm 3 года назад
In my opinion, AHL was a bit hard to watch, especially with the first few episodes and the poor treatment (especially Taehyung). But overall I think it is a good show. Not only does the rapline learn more about hip hop culture but the vocal line does too, they all got to know a taste of what hiphop culture is and where it came from. Most idols don’t get this experience, that’s why armys always like to inform people about how well bts actually knows hiphop rather than just having “fast rappers” in the group. It’s become a part of them and has helped them a lot in music.💜
@Ahjusshi_Brown
@Ahjusshi_Brown 3 года назад
It might be cringey to watch but the boys really learned a lot, especially the rappers. They even still talk about it today, how they learned lessons (possibly off camera) about what they could and could not say and do as asian hip hop artists. Before this show BTS, like most Koreans, were pretty ignorant about the black American experience and how that played into hip hop. That led to some issues when they were young (we can all remember the n word drama) but they’ve learned independently and from the artists on the show about how they should conduct themselves in the future in order to be authentic to hip hop while remaining respectful to the originators: black people. This show was so essential in making sure BTS never appropriated black hiphop culture bc it’s sooooo common in k-pop (bc most of k-pop is based on/inspired by music from black artists). The show also inspired a lot of introspection and self-reflection that I think was great for them to experience so early in their careers. Doing so only keeps you authentic to yourself and your goals, so I think it helped them maintain their integrity to their aspirations. Anyways that’s a long winded way of me saying I actually really appreciate the show. They had a lot of memorable moments there, that have impacted how they revolved as artists and people. But still suffering through the show might not be necessary 😂😂💜

0:48 agree. Even tho it's kinda cringey, some part still leave a warm print on me. Especially when they having so much fun with the mentors & themselves, when they learn few things out of their comfort zone and when they take them to the skid row. AND P.D.D by RM ft Warren G exist bc they meet at this show! so... Coolio still :/ tho~ And i love Iris Stevenson 😭 This 5th episode really contain good cuts from AHL 29:56 some says the fireworks at the end of BTS' concert supposed to be a distraction for armys when BTS goes inside. So we don't cry seeing them go. Once when the fireworks doesn't explode like it's supposed to, BTS told armys to look up at the moon, the stars and the night sky.. when armys look down they're already at the backstage 😭😭😭 I FKING LOVE THEM!

I dont know if you guys remember but in the memories 2019 there was one scene after the concert where jimin was watching the fireworks and got really emotional and then namjoon came up to him and said its reminded him of the time when they were watching the fireworks together in 2014 ... 29:37 this is what namjoon meant :)

im not a 'fan' but i do think that American hustle life was also a opportunity for them and another journey/experience. There might be 'bad' moments but there was good moments as well, and another lesson. [Edit]: Jiminie said "this is my seat" but pronounced it wrong... well, that's what i remember from the show lol

I would actually recommend you guys to watch the AHL one day! If not for reaction then for yourselves. Yes it might take you out of your comfort zone with BTS as well but it is very different from other shows, with lots of humor and you see our boys show different sides of themselves and really grow professionally in some things trough this short trip in America!

I get that people will have their own preferences on wether watching AHL or not. But i personally find it really petty if you cannot even give it a chance just because “you cannot get over the cringe”. Come on, the boys busted their asses filming this show on top of recording their album. The least we could do is appreciate all that effort and hard work they went through that taught them what can well be some of the most formative lessons in their careers... and the worst is some immature fans turn off other people from this great experience by unnecessarily whining about how “unbearable” it is. No one is forcing you to watch if it’s not your cup of tea, but please don’t discourage others from seeing it

I agree. If people dont like the show, sure thats totally fine. But i see so many armys telling other armys NOT to watch AHL. Are armys just supposed to ignore content that BTS worked hard on just because some people find it cringy or dont like it. They should be able to watch it and form their own opinions, not have army constantly bombard them with "DONT WATCH" . AHL is literally apart of BTS roots and skipping over an essential part of their journey for whatever reason makes no sense to me. Its like "if you dont like it, dont watch it, but dont tell other people not to watch it either"

I think AHL had some rough moments(like v being called a burden😡), ultimately I think BTS learned so many things from those that helped them during this time. Things not only about hip hop and performing but about themselves, and giving back etc. I can see so many of these lessons in the men we love today. It also seems like they were an inspiration to these guys as well. Such hard workers & nice guys always...love this episode.

American Hustle is heartbreaking for Army. But we could all agree BTS learned a lot from them (rude Americans in this show) and it inspires BTS to do better Jin, Jimin and my V were not treated well by those assholes. Even Suga became upset but managed to take it as guided by Jin and other members. The humility of these young men is there from the beginning. I hope they can see where BTS is right now. Nate is right BTS deserves to be number 1. Its all hardwork, talent and kindness

Hi, I am back. good reaction ty for this. Yes I am a fan of American Hustle Life. I think it was a real important forming moment in their life's. There are some rough parts but overall lots of interesting things. They learned lots of new stuff and grew. That is most important. They made connections. Those connections later on got them collabs. Jimin and Tony still chat they friends. Tony was on another reactors channel getting updated about BTS. He even shared memories. It was nice to hear his views. Borahae. -baby ARMY NY USA 💜

You guys are right about American Hustle Life being part of their journey. For me I found some of it cringe just because they were so young and I felt lke some of it was obviously dramatized to make the show more entertaining but I had fun watching it. I didn't like some things but I feel like once you get through the first couple of episodes it's actually pretty fun and sweet. The boys themselves enjoyed the show and still speak highly of it. It's also nice to know how far they've come.

Did you know familia, that the producer who offered them to use his studio at LA during the Dark & Wild album recording is the same PD who co-produced their Map Of The Soul: 7 album especially the ON. Good people really attracts good people. I'm glad BTS was surrounded by good people even from the start. All the things they learned about music and life had something to do with all the people and experiences they had together.

I you do dive in AHL there is one part I really hated. One of the people tat were supposed to help teach them was very ignorant towards them. Saw where Someone named Dante actually hit jk with stuffed animal on purpose and other things until Suga stepped in. there were some cringy parts but thjs made me sick. It is worth watcing. Liked some of it and hated some of it. Some parts are funny.

there was a lot of cringy parts where they were clearly treated badly and you could argue some of them were unnecessary or at the very least not very good for kids like them. getting screamed at and scared by so many people and some things were dramatized because it was american tv. like calling tae a dumb blonde for example, i don't think that's excusable
@naonomtm9123
@naonomtm9123 3 года назад
@@raspberrytaegi when people treat you rough it gives you a tough skin and that’s needed in the industry especially when it comes to constructive criticism. Coolio was tough on V especially but it’s because he felt V wasn’t talking things seriously and V had to prove he was because hip hop isn’t a joke or a costume u put on to look cool. That’s growth. Only things I found problematic was the dumb kidnapping scene and that Dude who was being unnecessarily rude to Suga and Jin.
@raspberrytaegi
@raspberrytaegi 3 года назад
@@naonomtm9123 i respectfully disagree. people try to normalize or romanticize abuse by referring to it as "tough love" all the time (not saying that's what you're doing, i'm saying that i think there's more than enough "roughness" in the industry). them saying "taehyung is the dumb blonde", for example, was one of many incidents where they were unnecessarily harsh for no good reason. it's also worth noting that a) yes, taehyung was ignorant about hip-hop, but he was also someone that was pretty much always silly/trying to make people smile, so coolio's attitude was _kind of_ warranted but those other kinds of comments definitely weren't, and b) multiple ahl actors/cast have admitted that certain things were played up for the show since it's american reality tv
@naonomtm9123
@naonomtm9123 3 года назад
@@raspberrytaegi I feel where you are coming from and I understand it. I get it. When Coolio called him a dumb blonde it seemed to be in a joking manner so I didn’t take it so seriously coming from him but I understood how it could possibly be hurtful to V. He also gave commendation and said he would get better which was accurate. Overall was the comment needed? No.

well for someone who has no interest in dancing at first, yoongi comes off as a natural dancer (but his dancing is underappreciated in this fandom). his facial expressions are great while dancing and he used to b-boy too. for me, tae and yoongi have the same level of dancing skills (just different style and interpretation) but ig he doesn't care too much about his dancing. he is the best among the non-dance line
