Fun fact about the song Mic Drop: Rap Monster explained that the song was inspired by Obama’s speech at the 2016 White House Correspondent’s Dinner. At the end of his speech, Obama dropped the mic and said, “Obama out” before making an epic exit. You're right about the ARMY overreacting to your illustration - they can be overprotective. BTS really does "throw signs" which includes all those different kinds of hearts and many parts of their choreo. Hand signs communicate across all languages. They do it on purpose. Plus in my personal experience a lot of irony and sarcasm has a tendency to get lost in translation/understanding no matter if it's written, said or body language. (Quite the problem when you come from a country that uses *a lot* of it - I legit had to learn to write in a whole new way to avoid misunderstandings when I got into BTS. 😅 Even the usage of signs like !, ? or " " has very different meanings. However, it taught me to be more open when reading comments and ask for clarification before getting defensive so one might argue that BTS and ARMY made me a more patient person in that way. 😂 Plus I found that emojis actually help a lot in international communication. 😁👍)

They’ve always had a lot of haters. 2016 when they won their first major award into 2017 was bad. They had two black oceans at award shows in 2016, which still makes me furious. They performed this and Cypher 4 at MAMA awards in 2017 - you bet your ass that was directed to a lot of people in that audience, both idols and fandoms. ETA - RM’s new album is amazing. I personally like the MVs for “Groin” and “Nuts” because of how stripped down they are. It’s just RM doing his thing. No, I’m not kidding with those titles.

I had to look up "black oceans." That's crazy! I imagine that's one of the many reasons that Suga is so supportive of younger artists now. Imagine how that felt to them after all their hard work. They actually won a daesang at MMA which is where one of them happened. I have no idea if they performed before or after, but talk about a complete flip in emotions either way. You always make me smile and laugh, thank you. Mic Drop is one of my favorite song from BTS and my first encounter with them. I’m French and in 2018 and even now, Korean artists are rare in France. One day, on a music channel on TV, I come across this MV and I was shocked : the energy, the choreo and Suga’s rap. I absolutely loved this song and put it on my playlist. Few months later, I came across another BTS song,Boy with love, on the same channel and loved it and put it on my playlist too. I listened often to this two songs but didn’t dig into the band. I didn’t fall into the rabbit hole before December 2021 when RU-vid algorithm suggested to me On and my life has changed. I had to know who BTS were because the 3 songs on my playlist were bop so they must have been very talented. And I don’t know your knowledge in French cuisine but ratatouille is a French dish, a slow-cooked Mediterranean vegetable stew. So I really love this tasteless ratatouille from Suga’s lyrics, it’s so funny. You must watch their performance of Mic Drop on MAMA 2017 and the dance practice Mic Drop with dance break for this performance. More body roll in perspective. Borahae 💜

SO happy you're back! Hope all is well with you. That beginning, though...kinda strikes home right now. Though, not for Pride where I am. Local park near me did a "Family Fun Night" - swim and a movie - was thinking about going with my youngest. Completely forgot about it. Only to learn TODAY that there were shots fired at the event. A FAMILY event!?!?! We have our drug problems, a drive-by now and then (2 miles "down the street"), but my area is still considered "safe". If your hats are any indication of your location, you may have even heard about it. It happened Thursday, I'm in Toledo. I'm still in shock, but so glad I forgot about it. As far as I know, no one was hurt, though. It's a scary world out there today. For everyone.
