Lol. It's funny that you talked about their lip syncing in the mv. Back in the early days BTS was notorious for not being able to lip sync AT ALL! They trained from the beginning to sing and dance live. It was always a running joke among the fandom about them NOT being able to lip sync. Now they get accused of lip syncing all the time and periodically during live performances they will intentionally stop mid song to prove they are not. Suga, one of the rappers is notorious for doing it.

RM who came out of the ambulance is the only one fluent in English. They lip sync their MVs but NEVER lip sync live performances. They sometimes use backing tracks because of the need to take breaths during their strenuous choreography and the backing track will help smooth it out. They sing live over the track. They all speak some English and are sometimes taking lessons. BTS has won over 700 awards worldwide. They have 5 Grammy nominations. Three nominations were just announced today. RM is the group leader and the only member that is fluent in English. He is also one of the main songwriters for the group. You are correct, they don't flex about anything that isn't truth. They have won at this point in their career over 700 awards in total.they don't lipsync, but when they are live, they do have backing tracks to help their performance sound fuller. You can tell the difference when it's a backing track and their live vocals.

RM, the guy you asked if he speaks the best English, taught himself to speak English fluently by watching American TV with Korean subtitles. Which is why he speaks with an American accent. Not something just anybody could do, but then, RM is an actual genius with an IQ of 148 (average is between 95-120) On the college entrance exam that all Korean High schools Seniors are required to take, he scored in the top 1% of the country. As a kid,he wanted to become a poet, but realized at the age of 14 that if he wanted people to actually hear his poetry he needed to become a rapper. Now he is one of the main song writers for BTS. (He also occasionally writes songs for other people) He is famous for his deep lyrics, use of wordplay, and frequent references in his lyrics to literature, scientific theory, the arts, and history. Which is why it is necessary to watch the explanation videos for some of BTS’ songs. Because songs you might take at face value are probably actually metaphors for something a lot more meaningful that you could have guessed.

I'm a 53-y.o. wife & mom from Texas. I've only listened to alternative music my entire life (from artists like INXS & The Cure in my teens in the 80s, all the way to artists Foo Fighters & Smashing Pumpkins as an adult). But then I stumbled onto MIC Drop four years ago. The language didn't matter when the beat, lyric flow, and music went this hard and sounded this well. Add that these guys were performing at a level I had never seen music artists do before. Instantly hooked. I don't really understand the resistance and negativity attached to music in different languages? People outside the U.S. all over the world who don't speak English make American artists rank #1 in their countries. BTS does world tours (singing in Korean, a language spoken primarily only in one tiny country) to European, Asian, Middle Eastern, and Latin American countries. Music and performance is everything, language should never be a barrier. Shoot, I can't even understand English rap lyrics 90% of the time!

Thanks for your reaction. I don’t understand why the language is always an issue. I’m from The Netherlands. We speak Dutch, but we listen to a lot of music in other languages, like english, French, Spanish, German etc. If all our music would be in only dutch, it would get really boring, I think. When I was younger, I really didn’t understand these other languages, but I still enjoyed the music. I understand it’s different for English speaking countries because they are used to always understanding the lyrics (but I believe spanish music is more common as well?). Just enjoy the music and the feeling it gives you. 💜💜💜

RM is fluent in English as I am sure others have said. What you are noticing in the video, all of them are speaking in Korean then they decided since they are going to produce this for the masses and since Steve Aoki was producing them for this they decided to do the chorus and all of RM's parts in English. Also there might be some slip up with RM's part even though he is rapping in English they did several takes because RM is a notorious klutz, gotta love him, but he got stuck in the ambulance, I also think he dropped one of the camera tripods. If you watch the making of you can see him getting stuck. So his takes are a bit longer, he is a genius but his arms and legs don't know that. To date 2022 BTS has won 471 awards in Korea, US, Europe and around the world they have had 689 nominations. As far as grammy's are concerned they have been nominated 3 times but not won. The grammy's are a sore spot for everyone because unlike most groups that go to the grammy's maybe win most times don't even get to perform. BTS has not only performed but also been a presenter but since they mostly sing in Korean they have yet to win a grammy. But in 2016 when this song came out they had won approx. 61 awards already.

Since you liked YTC more, giving a different lane of BTS: check out 134340, Rain, Love Maze, Born Singer (which was originally a pre-debut song where they sampled "Born Singer" by J Cole, it recently was released on their Anthology album once Cole cleared it), Magic Shop, Wake Up and Iine Pt 2- Ano Bashode (these 2 are from their Japanese albums). Or, you can watch the songs from Armypedia, which have a softer instrumental mix for that event (I'm still not sure which part of Mic Drop you didn't like, but it sounded more like it was about the beat and the rap, so I suggested songs that were more jazz, lo-fi, and R&B focused). As someone that is also from the US and grew up with our award shows being what seems like the axis for accolades, know that BTS is TRULY global. They not only win awards here, but in Latin and South America, Europe and Asia (including 6 KMAs (the Korean music industry version of the Grammys)). As others pointed out, RM (the one you mentioned learning English for his verse) is the one that is the most fluent in English. You will see a lot on both of these topics in the guide. Also, one other thing. I hope you take a lot of this feedback in the replies in stride. Armys give a lot of information and corrections because we are big on accurate information but also to help guide people on their journey to knowing BTS. We show up because we care about them, but also because we remember how joyful it was for us when we first found them and we enjoy seeing others discovering them as well.

They have won countless awards. They have been Grammy nominated at least 5 times but have not won yet. They have a dozen or so AMAs, lots of BBMAs, MTV Awards and literally hundreds of awards from Asian year end award shows. They are the reigning Artist of the Year at the AMAs.

They have over 700+ awards including Daesangs (Grand Prize) from MAMA, The Golden Disc Awards, Seoul Music Awards, Gaon Chart Awards, Korean Music Awards, & MMAs (Very huge & popular Asian Music Awards), Billboards Music Awards, American Music Awards, MTV European Awards (which they just won in the last couple of days), Teen Choice Awards, Kids Nickelodeon Awards, MTV American Music Awards etc), They recently won 7 awards in Oct 22 at The Fact Awards and just been nominated again for the 3rd year in a row for 3 Grammys but are 6x Grammy Nominees since 2019 and have performed at The Grammys since 2020. Yeah, they have a looots of awards, like a loot they are the most awarded group in history and also they are the 4th most awarded artist in the world with 784+ awards behind 3rd Taylor Swift, 2nd Beyonce and 1st the king Michael Jackson. And about the Grammys, they doesn't have any Grammys but they were nominated in grammys for past 2 years for best pop duo/group performance but they didn't win even tho they are the most eligible nominees in the category 😑, and this year they were nominated in grammys for 3 category one is as a credit as a songwriter in Coldplay's album ‘music of the sphere' in the ‘album of year' category and other being ‘best pop duo/ group performance' for ‘my universe by BTS and Coldplay' and other being ‘best music video' for ‘yet to come'. To be honest we are not hopefully to get a grammy this year too because grammys only gave awards to their sweethearts, the people they wanted to give and grammy never gave an award for a boyband in history so🙄 yeah.. . Don’t break up video reactions regardless of the time length. You’ll get more responses from the longer video. And one question I have regarding language is why is it a shock that their music is popular because it’s not in English but that is never said about Spanish music. And he knows fluent English. He didn’t learn it for the song. Please don’t judge them by American standards before you learn anything about them. It’s very off putting. Army looks for respect given to them. And listen to their non English songs because when people always say the English songs are their favorite I feel it’s because they don’t want to accept what they don’t know.

He learned by listening and repeating the sitcom Friends’ dialog and has a pretty decent American accept. He was an underground rapper before becoming the first member of BTS. His greatest influence was Nas.

I swear the more you learn about Bts and their story the defensiveness of ARMY (their fan base) will make more sense. I subscribed and I truly can’t wait for you to react to the Taylor Guide. Pls check Jin's solo (one of the member) The Astronaut MV released just 2 weeks ago. This song is a collab with Coldplay. Jin is the eldest mrmber and this is his song to Army as he temporarily say goodbye since he will be enlisting in the mandatory military service in South Korea this December as this is their law there. Jin and Coldplay performed ut live in Argentina at Coldplay's concert. Chris Martin gave a little speech about the collab. This is a small world. The inspiration for the song ‘mic drop’ was Present Obama last Speech when he dropped the mic. It never bothered me that the music is in Korean…I enjoyed it first then learned the words and meanings . The meanings are deep and based on some philosophical books….you’ll learn as you go further down the rabbit hole

Hello. I guess people advise you to check out Mic Drop cause u said in precious video you "grew up with" hip hop music and dance. I can definitly understand you about prefering Yet to come. For exemple before i heard BTS and in particular the rappers work (RM, Suga aka Agust D, J-hope) i was not at all into rap or hip hop music, but their vibes and the sound of their music got me and idk why it is the Magic of the/their music 😉 The guy you said his mouth was not in sync with the track is actually the leader of BTS : RM (Kim Namjoon). He is the only one fluent in english. So it makes me smile what you said 😉 also it reminds me that BTS themselves said that they are really bad at lip synching. I am excited to watch your reaction to the Taylor's guide ! And don't worry Army enjoy loooong videos as long as you watch it carefully by pausing and remain respectful. Also she talked about their trophies 😉 So all this to say maybe you can watch their Festa room live where they sang live few snippets of their B-sides albums. It was a really chill, fun and great moment. If you like softer songs, boy have I got some news for you: BTS have AMAZING B-sides that will blow your mind. My favorites include Paradise, Love Maze, Make it Right, Home, Truth Untold, Hold Me Tight, We On, Tomorrow, etc. As you might be able to see when you look them up, some of these songs are old. But the beauty of BTS is their songs never go out of style for us.

i will say i understand cultural differences but the comment “i don’t understand how these songs blow up so much and they’re not even in english” it’s not only english speakers who listen to music. and in most places outside of america, it’s very common to listen to music u don’t understand. i mean my first language wasn’t english, and even when i barely understood it i was a huge taylor swift fan and listened to a bunch of popular western music even if i didn’t understand it. if it’s good it’s good yk. also (i may be speaking for myself here) but since the film market isn’t rlly that large where i’m from and in my language, i often also watched a lot of english and korean films and shows despite not understanding then and would just read subtitles as i watched, so i don’t rlly understand this confusing that english speakers and mainly americans have to media that isn’t in english since it’s so normalised in most places around the world

well the US is not the world, and I think it's awesome that one of the biggest artist right now is a foreign act, someone representing another group of minorities! Sorry if some of the comments may seem that they have taken offense to what you say (even if you don't mean it), it's just that BTS has started to break into the US since 2017, and during 2017-2022 there were many ignorant and racist remarks made of them (there's covid too..), as someone who has witnessed all that it's extremely heartbreaking how xenophobic/racist people can be....just because they're different, I'm sure as a POC yourself there are a lot of instances where people are very rude and ignorant to your own culture/race whether in the media or through personal experience.

Grammys are for the US, but they still have 5 nominations. The rest of the world, they have 900 physical trophies including Billboard and AMAs.

The language doesn't matter in music. I like Latin music, but I don't understand it. I don't like much german music, but i understand german. For me, i set the music( beat, rythem, sound) on the top, then the voice when lyrics on the track and then the lyrics. When I don't understand the language ( lyrics), I google the meaning. That's so easy. Yap RM is the leader of BTS and fluent in English while learning by watching friends at a younger age. And yes, he has to learn it again and again, while his mother language is Korean. And did his best all the time for translating in interviews. And his knowledge of English help them with writing the lyrics.

In Korea, a Golden Spoon is someone with wealth/privilege. Class/hierarchy/socioeconomic status are still an important part of Korean society.

It always amazes me how people in the US are so closed minded, assimilating that they have a lot of cultures and therefore people who speak different languages. Every time they see that something that is not English is doing well, they are surprised, while the rest of the world is not. And don't worry, if you need to pause to read the subtitles, do it, it's a matter of practice and believe me, it's not an impediment to appreciating their music.

Yeah RM is fluent in English, he learned English from watching Friends. I’m 70 and just love these boys 💜💜💜💜. They’ve got over 700 awards. They should have won a Grammy last year their performance last year for Butter was unbelievable. They’ve been nominated for the last 3 years and nominated this year. RM leader probably speaks better English than me and I was born here. The rest are learning they also speak Japanese. Awards last I heard was over 700! They are also in Guinness book of records for all the records they have beat.

I think folks are saying Yet to Come is not for baby ARMY because through-out the MV there are references to various past MVs. Once you get a little further down the rabbit hole, if you revisit, you'll be able to understand the vid more. However, you don't have to be a long-term ARMY to enjoy the song.

Thanks for reacting to BTS. I recommend you watch and react the recent live performance of Mic Drop from their Yet To Come Busan concert last October. Their live is so full of energy. You will love it. Check also the Run BTS live performance from the same concert. RM (the leader) is the fluent in English. He learned English by watching the tv series Friends and ge has an IQ of 148. BTS gas over 700 awards in all since they debuted. Their trophies are from different music award giving bodies. They have won the AMA's last year with 4 awards including aartis of The Year. They have also won Billboard Music awards and a lit more. They never got a Grammys yet but they have been nominated at the Grammys for 3 straight times including a nomination this year. Hopefully they win this time.

They obviously use Korean references and slang in their lyrics so direct English translations can sometimes look odd, but you can always see what they are trying to say and get the vibe. BTS won awards not only fr their home country of South Korea, but fr all over the world. countries fr Asia, Europe & the Americas. hence, the 700+ trophies in their bag.
