Just some context. This performance took 3 months to prepare and they basically went all out because it was going to be one of their last year end performances because they were going to enlist in the military starting in 2020 after their world tour. But then the pandemic happened their entire tour was canceled and they postponed their enlistment. So they ended up performing at the MMA's 2020. And while it was also a great performance it was kind of bittersweet because they had no in person audience due to covid and Suga was unable to perform due to his recovery from shoulder surgery. The order of the solos were V, Jin, Jimin, Suga, Jungkook, J-Hope, and RM.

As far as their discography is concerned, you would be amazed at how good all their b-sides are. The hardest thing to answer is " what is your favorite BTS song" for me. It will take you guys a while but it's so worth it. Thanks for reacting.

Each member did a sample remix of their songs for their solos. V(No more dream). Jin (Danger), Jimin (I need you), Suga (Fire), JK (Save Me) and JHope (Fake love). RM did his solo song Persona in the beginning.

❣️Jimin’s solo performance, wearing a modernized hanbok just fastened by ties only, had many different dance elements in it! Including the barrel leaps taken from Korean dance elements, some martial arts elements, (trained for 8 yrs in various forms w/blackbelt in Taekwondo), & of course contemporary dance. Also, equally ever so stunningly outstanding, was Jimin's scarf work, which is alone so hard to master, without getting that ever so thin veil of a scarf all tangled! Jimin somehow was able to make the scarf one with himself, using it as an extension, even at one point when he did that amazing jump leap straight up the scarf becoming his wings!! Jimin's whole performance was so amazingly stunningly beautiful. Just so effortlessly breathtakingly mesmerizing to see!! Though the other members did a version of their solo performances for benefit of the live audiences, for the broadcast version as seen here, viewer see the prerecorded version, that was prerecorded the day before, since especially JK’s performance in water with that heavy tank that weighed a ton wouldn’t be able to maneuver for live audience, as well as some of the other effects seen like for Mikrokosmos, also the part with the horses was obviously prerecorded as a safeguard for the horses. It also gave a chance for BTS come up for air as well as give them time to change. Jimin was the only one who didn’t have the benefit of prerecorded VCR, which meant that for his solo performance by the broadcasted version, viewers saw Jimin perform live only. While the broadcast version showed for rest of members the prerecorded version. But once again the live audience did get an opportunity to see BTS members do a version of their solos. 👍🙏❤️‍🔥😇😍🔥✨💫

Yes they did really dangerous moves in fact when they all began to sit on chairs behind the table, Jimin's chair came late so he was squatting while performing the choreo. A fancam showed how Jimin was so professional about it without complaining. Also the lights that were dropping everytime the members start to perform represented the 7 stars which has reference to the corona borealis. There's a deeper meaning to it in the story of Dionysus. Plus ofc the members representing each Greek god in their solo performances. Thank you for capping your 2nd season with this epic performance. BTS had other epic performances worth watching.

Not a single grp can match this MMA 2019 Bts Performance. Like ever. I also think if this would be performed in western award shows, they're not ready for this. Ofher artists would be embarassed to match this & the shows would also be so embarassed not to give them d awards rhey deserved. Bec when they performed this, they swept the major categories + 4 minor awards. They also did d same with mama 2019 awards. D performance set was kinda similar but very different. And they also swept the grand prices +5 minor awards. They did this for 3 yrs. Bts production is just another level, they deserve it,they nail their performances every single time.

For Dionysus BTS are all greek gods. BTS said that Dionysus are the hardest to perform especially the dance break and they breathe heavily when you see the fancam of this . If you see the backstage scene they are all tired. You need to react to the dance practice of this .

All the members represent 7 different Greek Gods/Goddess during their solo performances: V = Apollo (God of the Sun) Jin = Ares (God of War) Jimin = Artemis (Goddess of the Moon) Suga = Hephaestus (God of Fire) Jungkook = Poseidon (God of the Sea) J-Hope = Zeus (God of Thunder) RM = Dionysus (God of Wine and the creator of the crown "Corona Borealis")

I believe that this particular performance at MMA 2019 was their best of all at the awards. It contains their wonderful songs and very beautiful productions. But the way they did the performance before the last song in this performance and the song “Dionysus” itself is just fire! This is very cool! Bravo not only to the guys themselves, but also to those people who participated in the creation of this legendary performance: choreographers, costume designers, authors who came up with this whole masterpiece, dancers… After all, this performance does not just show dance and theatrical solo performances of the guys, where each of them moves to separate music and with a different stage design - it is a whole tetra that immerses the audience in the atmosphere of Ancient Greek mythology and the events of that time. BTS made an anology with that time. Each member represents a specific ancient Greek God or Goddess. Each of them corresponds to a certain element and is also associated with a certain BTS song, which most closely matches each element and God. And this is how it turns out: V - God Apollo. Song - No More Dream. V - appears first, as well as the song he dances to - this is the first BTS song that started it all. And it is dedicated to young people who do not have their own dreams, who live as they are told, and not as they themselves want. Apollo is the God of male beauty, God of light, predictor of the future and patron of the arts and theater. Therefore, as seen in the performance, V dances between antique columns and around him are aerial acrobats, who display the art. Jin - Goddess Athena and Goddess Aphrodite (50/50). Song - Danger. This is the song of the second stage of BTS and Jin comes out second. In this song, the guys sing about relationships in which the girl cheats and plays, thereby showing that these relationships are not important for her, she is a hypocrite, and the guy is going crazy, i.e. there is a kind of war going on. Athena - Goddess of victory, wisdom, military strategy and tactics. One of the most revered Goddesses (like Jin - everyone respects him and kind of honors him, since he is the eldest in the group). Aphrodite - Goddess of beauty, eternal spring, fertility (Jin is the world's handsome man). And in the production, Jin rides out on a horse and is belligerent. Jimin - Goddess Artemis. Song - I need U. The next stage and the song says that everything is crumbling, broken, but I still need you like air. Artemis is the eternally young Goddess, the Goddess of hunting, female chastity, giving happiness in relationships. Possesses powerful magical powers. Patroness of all life on Earth. And all living things cannot live without air - it is impossible without it. Every living thing needs it (which is what the title of the song corresponds to). Her element is air. In his performance, Jimin represents this element (and in life, he is the first to come to the rescue when the members are in trouble and bad, he is their reassurance and a breath of air). Suga - God Hephaestus. Song - Fire. Hephaestus - God of fire, maker of lightning. One of the most influential Gods. The patron of blacksmithing, inventions, the builder of all buildings on Olympus (Which corresponds to Suga himself, since he is a member who not only writes songs, but also produces them. And not only in his group, but also to other people. And by analogy, he is builder, primary source in the group). Well, I think the correspondence of the chosen song to which he comes out is clear. And around him on the stage there is fire and lightning (light). Next, Jungkook is the God Poseidon (or Neptune). Song - Save Me. Poseidon is the supreme sea god. He is merciless to those who insult him, but is favorable to those who honor and love him. He has a quick temper and a difficult disposition. His weapon is a trident, with which he is able to cause storms and break rocks (Which, it seems to me, fully corresponds to Jungkook himself - he is the main vocalist and is at the top - the center of the group. About his character - he himself says that he is difficult; and He can move mountains, he loves the members and Army who love him). Element of water - on stage Jungkook dances in water. The song talks about a relationship in which the girl extended her hand and saved him from loneliness, from himself, from the darkness into which he plunges alone with himself - in dreams, in thoughts. And she is a bright light for him. Also in water, when a person drowns, he plunges into darkness, but there is light at the top. Next, J-Hope is God Zeus. Song - Fake Love. Zeus is the God of the sky, thunder, lightning, who is in charge of the whole world. The main and most powerful God. He distributes good and evil on Earth. Fair. According to legend, he built the entire social order on Earth (just like J-Hope - everyone considers him an unofficial leader, since he has very strong good energy, he gives strength to all the guys. He is always fair and can always clearly say what, to whom and how to do, i.e. bring order to the group. Is the soul and energy of the group). On stage, he dances under the illumination of lasers and beams of light, symbolizing lightning. And under the electronic processing of the song. The ratio of the song - if he is fair, he will not tolerate pretense and lies. And the song is about pretending because of love to someone or something. Love is the greatest and most important force. She is good. And pretense is evil. And in the end, RM is God Dionysus. And that's what the song is called. Dionysus is the God of vegetation, winemaking and inspiration. God of fun and theater. He was not one of the most important Gods according to legend. But he had very extraordinary abilities - he could drive a person crazy, but he could also cure him of madness (Which corresponds to RM himself - although he was the first member of the group and is its leader, but as he himself says, I can’t do everything, or rather, if it doesn’t concern music, then I don’t do anything in everyday life myself. And in the end, when RM is the last one to come out, the circle closes - all 7 members get together and return again to the beginning, to the origins, to the song itself. Just like the 7 Gods, when they gathered together, their abilities combined and represented enormous power and strength. So this performance at the end with the song "Dionysus" has a very deep meaning. Like, in principle, every BTS song. And the way the roles are distributed in this performance is very cool - they completely correspond to the personalities of the guys. They are the best! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

This performance is the result of 3 months hard work of preperations and numerous meetings. 270 staff members worked on the stage production, and 170 performers joined BTS on stage during this performance. For these performers, 30 additional makeup artists were added as well, to design each of their looks - which included 218 costumes with specific detail to their accessories as well as props. The artist's company (in this case HYBE) are the ones that come up with the ideas surrounding the performance and they are also the ones that pay the expenses, not MMA - and BTS's performance definitely wasn't cheap,

For the song you recognized from church - "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" - it's a very old traditional Christmas carol that began as a monastic hymn that evolved into an advent hymn. If I had to guess, they chose it because this award show airs in December. Also, it was V that kicked off the solo dance performances, then Jin, then Jimin, then SUGA, then Jung Kook, then j-hope, then RM. The lights that dropped after each solo performance represented a star in the constellation Corona Borealis, which is representative of the crown that Princess wore when she married Greek god Dionysys. You are right that they are "like gods" - each BTS member represents a Greek god. "Thyrsus" is the staff carried by the Greek god Dionysys (who is the god of wine and revelry - represented by RM). The timing of this award performance was just four months before BTS was meant to kick off their final world tour (Map of the Soul) before the members began to serve in the military (Jin and SUGA were meant to enlist by the end of 2020). So this was essentially a retrospective of their entire career as a group to-date, since they wouldn't have been able to perform at MMA (or MAMA, for that matter) again for several years due to their plan for military service (which they are doing now, just delayed by a couple of years).

"D-style" comes from the DiSC personality assessment (personality assessments seem to be very popular in South Korea, with people exchanging their testing info on DiSC or MBTI personality tests)...D-style personalities are "dominant" (hence the 'D') who emphasize changing their environment and overcoming opposition to achieve results/success -- basically exactly what BTS went through and accomplished in their career!

Droning on about other people droning at awards shows 😂 Tks guys. I’m glad you watched this. BTS has a unique fingerprint which makes it easy for us to distinguish their voices. Not all groups can say that. 💕

❣️This was from the annual Melon Music Awards, a Korean award show the equivalent to the Billboard Awards. BTS swept the awards, thus closed the award show, though many other artists did indeed perform beforehand. The cost of the production for BTS entertainment company BigHit, was over 500K dollars, and all the in-house production team of BigHit started planning it over half a yr beforehand! Also most of the rehearsal time that BTS had, was while they were touring worldwide. But they all were quite into doing this, and somehow managed to fit in the rehearsal like they did the yr before. The only one who performed live only, without benefit of VCR being shown, for the broadcasted version, was Jimin, who shows here being the phenomenal, outstanding, ever so breathtakingly amazing professional dancer he is, which he was even before joining BTS. His performance was beyond mesmerizing, so poised & elegant of a dancer. With the exception of Jimin, all the other solo performances were prerecorded live, with smaller audience the day before, since there was no way to have these stage sets and tank pool of water let alone have JK who was performing the dance in water get dried and change clothes beforehand! Although, all the members performed a live version of their solo dance, for the live audience, while the VCR was playing the prerecorded version that the broadcast, & or online audience saw. Also certain songs like Mikrokosmos were performed live beforehand, as well, so they could also allow for the special effects that only people who saw the broadcast on TV in South Korea or had it stream worldwide could see that version. Also the part with the live horses was filmed beforehand without an audience.

that hand sign is their signature symbol. it’s a gun because their name “BTS” stands for bangtan sonyeondan which means “bulletproof boyscouts” in english. the hand symbol kinda symbolizes that even through all the hatred, they’re strong enough to overcome it all. and they really have, they’ve barged through all obstacles standing in their way and made it to the top. so proud of them 💜.

Mine is V because of his vocal skills and range, stage presence and ability to draw you in with good vocals and musical appreciation. A curiosity about Boy with lov. In the verse where Jin sings "come be my teacher" we see in the choreography Suga pointing at Jhope and vice versa. They do this because Suga taught Jhope how to rap and Jhope taught Suga how to dance when they were trainees. In music Dionysius each of the 7 members represented differente Greek Gos. Jin was Athena, Suga was Hephaesus or Hades, Hobi was Zeus, Rm was Dionysius, V was Apollo, Jimin was Artemis and Jung kook was Poseidon. Dionysus was the guardian of those who did not feel part of conventional society.

The lights you see after each solo performance drop down to form the Corona Borealis constellation, which in classical mythology is said to be the crown given by Dionysus to Ariadne as a wedding gift and set by her in the heavens.

Thanks so much! I watched this live broadcast at the time. It was overwhelming. I had never seen anything like this other than maybe Cirque du Soliel. Why would they do a small theatre when they sell out the largest stadiums tours in under 1 hour. Which one do you think make more money. If it is just for people to see them a stadium tour of usually over 30 + shows would be better. If it is to put on a production…. You have not been to a BTS concert.

They use drones and AR Augmented Reality to make their performances like this 💜💜💜

There were a lot of pre-recorded parts to this performance. Namjoon's Persona, Mikrokosmos with all the space effects, all the solos except for Jimin's dance and RM's entrance and the beginning of the finale with the horses. The audience got to see what we saw but on a big screen. During some of the solos the members came out on stage to perform with the pre-recorded part. However, you can only see that from fan cams you will see them in the outfits that they wore for the finale (black instead of white) and without any props or light effects. They leave the audio open so we hear the audiences response to the video being shown. And to answer your question about where are the screens, you are watching what is on the screen and if you look real close in some of the long audience shots you can see them.

Drones and fog. Some effects were added live and could only be seen by the people live streaming. The lights are controlled by Bluetooth. Some if the solos were prerecorded. I did hear that Jimin’s was supposed to be the prerecorded one but then he decided to do it live and just went out there so people were really happy.

Checked world population on google, 7.9 B in 2022. Probably 8B now. They can do costume changes double quick, but they have a break again, prerecorded material, before the extended Dionysus. Greek god of wine and partying among other things. They all play Greek Gods, but RM is Dionysus. First dancer was V, second Jin, third Jimin, then Suga, Jungkook, Jhope and finally RM. The gods to attend Dionysus' drinking party. The thyrsus is a big staff/stick, that Dionysus carried, think Gandalf from Lord of the Rings.
