I feel like a lot of these comments are starting to get a bit picky, a lil mean and I just wanted to let you know there's no "correct way" to go about these videos. Don't feel too pressured to catch up too quickly. Just take it in stride and enjoy it as much as you can. I've been an ARMY for about 3 years now and i've seen almost all of the content they have to offer, save for a few of the more obscure ones. Don't get me wrong, the content never ends cause new stuff is constantly coming out practically weekly, but I think i speak for all of us when I say that we WISH we were still at the discovering stage that you're in, with endless amounts of content waiting to be consumed. So yea just enjoy it and savor every minute ;)

I LOVE the fact that you went all the way back to their beginning and plan to work your way from there. It is the best way to discover and understand BTS as artists, because: 1. their music always reflects their current age, state of mind, their world view, the issues and challenges they face at a specific point in time/ of their career/ of their personal lives. 2. they play a lot with timelines and throwbacks and cross- references as well, so a lot of details or meanings will be lost on you if you are not familiar with their prior work. 3. going by the order of release gives you the opportunity to actually see their growth over the years, both is term of honing their skills and maturing as conceptual artists with a message. It is fascinating to see them find their own colors and creative direction and taking control more and more of their music making process (from rookies with a company producing the group to artists standing on their own and being able to release solo projects that deliver their unique personal vision). If I could suggest something and also add some insight as an older fan. BTS body of work is album oriented instead of focusing on singles. Of course they also release single projects, but what makes them special and sets them apart among their peers is their talent and vision as storytellers. If you were to take cues from Namjoon's own confessions, there are 2 major things he hopes and craves for as a creator/musician: 1. that listeners pay attention to the *lyrics* more than the sound, because the sound is many times following trends or is used as a support for the message they wanna send, but the lyrics are what they want the audience to take away with them for a long time 2. to listen to the *full albums* in the order of the tracklist: he reffered to the songs as their "precious kids" and he said that everything from intro to outro has a role in the story they are trying to tell - as in there are no fillers (even an interlude has its role of transitioning the mood), so he is most grateful to the people who take the time to walk through the whole album rather than just vibing with one random song taken out of context. When you react to the full albums, you can get the full picture and also see why they chose the title songs. Another fun fact: most BTS B-sides are better than most titles other artists promote and even among their own discography, the singles are sometimes catering more to a general audience, while their real gems are on the album itself. In other words you are seriously missing out if you just go with the title songs (the ones that get the MV treatment and are promoted via music shows or pushed to radio). My suggestion is to do a full album listening party at a time (even if you split it in several videos). You can go about it 2 ways. Either listen the audio from Spotify and read good lyric translations OR use the RU-vid lyric videos that have both in 1 place. I'd recommend the former, because, handy as they may be, the YT fanmade lyric videos are many times just a contest between channels to put them out the fastest when new music drops, so A LOT of them have incorrect or loose translations, that not only do not do justice to the amazing, almost poetry like lyrics, but many times butcher the meaning and misguide the viewer. What they do help with (sort of) is give you an idea who is singing what line (but even that you need to take with a grain of salt, because it is simply the line distribution the uploader guesses based on their own recognition of BTS voices, it is NOT the actual distribution - not to mention they do a lot of harmonies and voice layering so yeah...) It is up to you what path you wanna follow, but since I noticed you tend to be very organized and picky about the quality of the content you produce, I'd say go with the factual and accurate content. If you use the lyric videos for the convenience, please do yourselff a favor and still check off-camera the actual accurate translations. In this MV, there are references to the future. So don't make yourself crazy, but at least look carefully at the backgrounds and props...

My favorite thing about bts is that they (and the rest of their production team) are incredible story tellers. Most people focus so hard on the visuals of their videos (how could you not they're amazing) but their ability to tell complex stories and convey important messages through music has always made them a huge stand out for me. I really appreciate how you are going through the lyrics and fully appreciating the meaning behind them because storytelling has always been BTS' strongest feature (for me at least).

Your reactions are really great to watch, and you have a reasonable way to watch BTS’ MV, rewatching them from the start, so thank you for that! You’ll be able to see their growth and what their music is really about. This is not the Love Yourself series, those are way more recent. This is their first album, their first Music Video, and it’s the Too Cool for School series, which is basically them rebelling against korean’s strict education system. Love your reactions, and I’m excited that you’re starting from the beginning! Great idea. If I may, should you happened to be thinking about how to go about this, something that has become easiest for reactors AND ARMY alike is to watch the video first then watch again and read the lyrics. Or vice versa, whichever your prefer. This is a common practice because BTS throws SO much at you in just the 3-4 minutes of the song. They put so much work into visual concepts and choreography, as well as in their lyrics, and it could be difficult to catch it all at once when you don’t understand Korean, especially as they grew and gained a larger budget. I just wanted you to know that you can watch any BTS MV on their channel Big Hit Labels, and they almost all have english subtitles, you just need to click on the closed captions button and select english for the language. For the ones that don't i reccomend 1theK. 😊 Unfortunately, I am not sure if the person here has correctly translated the lyrics. This song really comforted me when I was stressed at school. The song, in my opinion, is about how we put sooo much pressure into excelling in school specifically and getting good grades and studying. We forget that it's important to have dreams. The song calls out people who want to change, but yet they're still scared and "look, you're getting ready for school now aren't you? do you even have a dream?" The song is full of anger + arrogance, like they're trying to wake us up by yelling at us and asking what our dreams are. That kind of feeling haha. Whenever I was super stressed with projects and work, I would listen to this song and think, "School's not everything. Don't worry, you're fine" - because I was brought up with the mindset that I needed to excel in order to succeed. That's not the case, and I'm glad I learned it earlier on in life through this song. Just some context, BTS members were 15-20 years old when this song came out. The lyrics calls out societal expectations of kids/students, and with their succeeding songs, highlights the pressure in the very competitive Korean school culture. P.S. Many of the BTS members did very well in school actually. And all of them are smart in their own different way.

In Jungkook's part, when he was talking about how "you don't want to study, but you're afraid to quit school," and how you said he was "trash talking" was more of their theme they wanted to pull off. They wanted to grasp people's attention with Hip-hop and rebellious lyrics, but also relatable lyrics. They talked about breaking many social norms in Korean culture and stepped into new and fresh territory. They where purposefully aggressive and growly(?) back then, and wore eyeliner chains and black clothes (as you can see). ARMY and BTS cringe together as we look back at those times, but the message still was good!

"WHAT'S YOUR DREAM" TELLS EVERYTHING (just my thoughts as a Korean) They are talking to both young and older generations Many parents/elders would ask a kid when they are young what their dream is,, but as they grow up they are forced to pick a dream that would satisfy the parents.(jobs that make a lot of money, or bring honor/authority to the family) Meaning, kids are forced to have a dream, but not truly their own. Young generations know this and complain about it, so they blame the society. The song is saying to the young generations:, the society sucks, but your complaining doesn't do anything. Do you have a dream right and meaningful enough for you to fight against the society? Are you working hard to satisfy the society or to fight for your OWN dream? I love and appreciate that although you discovered them through their recent videos, you're taking it back to the beginning. Honestly, it's great to see their growth and how they've matured not only as artists but as people. You already have the background knowledge of the subject matter in their albums and I love thinking of how they've changed over the years as they age and grow with their fans/audience. (I've been a fan of theirs since a bit after their debut.) In terms of trying to memorize the members, what I tend to do is first remember them through roles. What are the names of the 3 rappers and what are the names of the 4 vocalists. After that, you get used to their singing style. When someone is rapping, you'll be able to know it's between 3 people and learn their voice. Same for when someone is singing, you know it'll be between 4 people. The only thing is, sometimes the rappers will have melodic rap lines or singing lines, and Jungkook (being the golden maknae that he is) will sometimes rap, though that's more for their older songs and not so much in their newer production. Edit: Everyone creates reaction videos differently, and there are certain things people will like and dislike in reaction videos. E.g. Some people don't like it when the reactor pauses, and I can understand that because it takes away from the momentum of the build up of the song, but I personally think it's better than talking over the video. I just appreciate it more when they bring it back after pausing it to build it back up. From what I can see, you like to analyze the lyrics as well, so I don't know if something you would want to do is listen twice - one to hear the song and one to pay attention to the lyrics. In south korea (like a lot of asian countries), kids are heavily pressured by their parents when it comes to studies and school. After school, they have to go to cram school. After cram school, home tutors will come. The competition among students are insane. The norm was to follow the flow, listen to your parents, don't stray from the path that was chosen for you by society and your elders, get in a prestigious university, don't think about useless things (aka, your passions, your real dreams, what you want to be) No more dream is a rebellious song. It's the anthem of youth for us. It reminds us that our dream is important too. It reminds us to not lose ourselves, not kill passions.

My only complaint is that you paused with the doggo during my favorite part, when they "shoot" Taehyung/V and he ricochets back and throws the glasses off his face. This was quite the era for BTS now. They don't like looking back at it. Especially some of the choices they made: RM hates his hair from this time period, J-hope wears kind of a scary mask he hates in a lot of promo pics, Jimin doesn't like that he showed his body off. But they also acknowledge that without this foundation they couldn't have became who they were. In a recent video they talked about how grateful they are to this version of themselves, for bringing them to where they are now. As others have mentioned there are a LOT of Easter Eggs for future storylines in this video, but a LOT of them are spoilers. Here are some that ARE NOT spoilers: In the background, you can see the names of future songs: "Danger" (which came out in 2014) "Run" (which came out in 2015) "Stigma" (which came out in 2016) The BTS storyline began in 2015 with I Need U, but BigHit was already setting up for it even back when this video came out. :) Run and Stigma are both parts of the storyline, and some believe that Danger is too, even though it's not "officially" part of the storyline.

I like that you pay attention to the lyrics and try to understand them. 💜 Message is big part of BTS and it plays a huge part of group history itself. When this song came out many people were not happy about these rookies who try to lecture you about your comformistic live style instead of just entertaining you with cood dance moves and catchy melodies. Many viewers were rubbed the wrong way when BTS addressed this youth issue on this song that was put on TV. In Korea where sacrifice for education is glorified it was a risk by itself. People who werr unhappy with themselves and how they living but to timid to do anything about it felt called out by BTS a and got defensive cause BTS themselves obviously broke the pattern created for them by Korean society from the day they were born about how lo live to be able to make a living and be accepted and instead chose way more risky path that might lead to failure. So many in their own unhappiness redirected that on BTS and attacked them brutally online. Everything about BTS became an issue. Ugly, oldshool, poor, no good background, not from Seoul etc. It was bad. For BTS themselves it was really hard. They were broke in debt, were barely make it to debut on TV, and sudently having 5x more haters that actual fans. But they gained a fans too, those who listened to their message and it resonated with them those who started to look up to BTS for having a courage to go confront the waves. More successful BTS got despite anything thrown their way little by little carving out their path more their fans were reasured that different path can be an option that even if jt will be hard and painful it will not necessarily end bad. And more and more started to look up to BTS and what they doing cause even after people mocked them of school theme they don't abandoned it to satisfy mases, but still did it for 2 more albums cause at that time that what was on their mind and relevant to them. They just did everything on their own pace and terms so they would not compromise their authenticity for quick Success and that eventually made many like them even more. Now it is all BTS history and many new fans finds inspiration and hope in it too. Sometimes good things actually happens to good people who work hard. No matter what world says it is actually possible to be successful and stick to your humanity without becoming a shitty, cutthroat type of person.

This song is the main song for the album "2 Cool 4 School" -- It's telling fans to follow their own dreams and do what they want to do instead of falling into the expectations of society. South Korea is strong on education and have high expectations for the students (even the little ones) -- and it's very harsh on them mentally and emotionally. South Korea even has a high suicide rate among teens for the amount of pressure they are facing head on daily. This song is to encourage those kids to fight for what they want and to never give up on their own personal dreams. As BTS said -- We only have one life. Stand up for what you want. Fight for it. Remember details such as the black boards. Adults in Korea put a lot of pressure on the kids to get great grades and prepare yourself for a good college. BTS are telling you to follow your own dreams. Everything you are saying about your life is what this song is about. Open your eyes! Next video is We are bulletproof pt. 2. I'm really into your reactions. I really enjoy when people pay attention to the lyrics, because it's what makes BTS's music so interesting. They are not the ordinary boyband who sings about first love and partying, they have a honest and relatable message. I'm 31, Brazilian and still, I'm can relate to their message. And also, BTS's discography is so diverse, they put a lot of though in their songs and albums. You won't regret getting into them, they totally worth the hype.

Being an Army, I just started knowing more once I just started watching their music videos and other funny videos and more things about them, etc. You don't need to pressure yourself because if you are genuinely interested, you catch up to everything eventually. For example their faces will become familiar, their personalities, and etc. Also, it is best to enjoy the music video without analyzing every line, I felt like you were missing out on their voice and style of how they sing and rap BUT if that's how you watch then that's all good lol :)

I really enjoy your genuine reactions and interpretations on their videos.. not going to lie your dog is what made me finally subscribe to your channel. Seeing your dog so calm and relaxed, they can sense people, so you're definitely a good guy! I recently got into BTS too and have been trying to catch up and intake as much as possible, but take it one day at a time and enjoy the ride!

As a parent it's hard to let go and let them go after whatever dream they want. A young adult will see the dream a parent sees the mountain with big ass boulders ready to drop on our children's heads. Part of being a parent is not letting you go up mountains with big ass boulders ready to squash you. 10x more then you want that dream we want you safe, letting them go is the hardest thing I have ever done as a parent. My 3 older kids have all been hit by rolling rocks I patch them up and send them back on their path (after begging them to take the easier safer path) and let them go again. I think as parents we have to let our children go and climb to their dreams but until you have kids you will never understand how hard it is to step back. I still have two 13 year old boys they are picking out which mountain they want to go after, it is just as hard with them as it was for the three older ones. I still hate it I still try and talk them into the safe level path. They won't of course they will blaze their own trail, but I will watch ever step they take and try to remove any rocks I can. But at the end of the day all I can really do is watch and worry and when the turn around and ask me how they are doing I tell them they are the best and brightest and they can do it. When rocks come along and slam into them pushing them to their breaking point I doctor them up get them on their feet and let them go on. Till you are a parent you will never the cost to our soul to let you do that

I spent aroud 1,5 - 2 months to know them quite well. Watching all varieties, RUN on Vlive (the games section), etc etc. And that was a lot of contents. LoL. I know them in November 2017 when I had no job and little money. I was awe with BTS hardwork and devoted fans. January 2018 I started a new job, so just like what other ARMYs said, "BTS come when you need them."

Hey there, please, don't feel pressure, instead relax and enjoy the ride. BTS has a lot of content, they have been together even prior their debut in 2013 and back then they already had their video logs where they opened about themselves. There are also their Official videos, the short films for the story line, dance practices, Bangtang bombs that are clips from them like behind the scenes shots, tv adds, Run BTS episodes where the guys make teams and play games, Bon Voyage when the guys traveled, Summer and Winter packages for allegedly vacations, Live concerts, appearances in TV shows, "Munsters" a live show with fans, Documentary Series like "Burn the stage", they make live transmissions through V app together after ceremony awards and also individually when they able to, also are active in social media with their group account and of course their own official platform "Weverse", so yeah, is a lot. Just take your time and go through the material you enjoy the most. 😉

With BTS, their lyrics are worth discussing and their MVs are equally important, because they give a lot of thoughts, symbolism, story and meaning to their music videos too. So glad you're finally starting the music video reactions!! I was waiting for this :D This isn't the love yourself story line yet, it's their debut single and the start of their "school trilogy" (since they were fresh out of school at that time). But I guess you could argue they were always kind of talking about loving and accepting yourself ;) No More Dream was a track written for other teenagers who don't know where their lives are going and feel like they have no other option than to study hard because their parents told them to because they've lost all their childhood dreams. I like to think of it as a "wake up call" from BTS telling us to get up and take control of our lives because no one's gonna live for us. BTS have and is still being true to themselves since debut. One of the many reasons ARMY loves BTS is because they never hide their imperfections and faults, always learning, owning up to their mistakes and trying to better themselves as a human being and at the same time showing us how to build our own confidence and loving ourselves warts and all. Once GP learns to listen to their music without prejudice that is when they understand the messages in BTS's songs. I don't know when I realized I had all the names down. It means a lot that you are watching and learning when this isnt normally the stuff you were familiar with. Great job :) Love the fur baby! The budget was really tight so they didnt have much to work with. To be fair, if you are gonna stop and read every line out loud you are going to miss the flow of the video (not saying it was amazing but you probably didnt get as much out of it as you might have if you had let it play through) so maybe if you are going to chop it up the first time, give it a second play through without the stops. :))

I haven't read all the comments but I just wanted to add my support. My opinion is anyone willing to put effort into learning about BTS and enjoying their music is someone I will always support. You don't have to like everything and I really don't care if you maybe factually incorrect from time to time. I think we all need to 1. be nice to each other, don't say anything to others that your wouldn't feel comfortable saying in front of RM, and 2. I know that when I was first watching and learning about BTS, if I was saying what I was thinking in a video, I am sure I said something incorrect. In my opinion this is all good. Thank you.

Hi there! Big fan of your videos. I became a BTS fan recently and love watching other peoples reaction. I love that you like to examine and try to understand their lyrics, but it does take away from you watching their performance. These guys are Idols AND Artist. As artist, they have great music with meaningful lyrics that deserve appreciation. As Idols, their dancing and visuals and performance also deserve love as well. One reactor I like to watch will first react to a lyric video first to get to know the song and then will watch the music video. Just a suggestion. But keep watching and appreciating BTS. ARMY will always stand behind you!

I recommend the channel DKDKTV. They explain the visual references that are in BTS music videos from a Korean (culture) stand point. They don’t explain all the videos but I found their explanation to IDOL, Baepsae and Spine Breaker helpful.

These guys have so much stuff. Like my playlist for them contains 86 songs, that’s not close to being all of it. And they debuted in 2013. They go hard and keep the quality high. The beginning is always a great place to start. 💜🌎 Their albums are based on their times of life, and come in a trilogy format. The first trilogy is school times, cause that’s where they were. Maybe check them out that way. ✌🏼”NO” was another mv from this time and it gives you more their view of the education system in Korea.
