@@Miguel-yx9zg No, that was all done in the UK a decade and a half earlier. Have you not heard of the Sex Pistols, Sham 69, The Buzzcocks, The Damned, UK Subs, X-Ray Spex, Angelic Upstarts, The Exploited, The Dead Kennedys etc etc? Nirvana really did nothing new, bands had been doing the same for years before them. They were just old punk-derived ideas, slowed down and rebranded as Grunge, something ‘new’ for the kids. The fact that record selling corporations made billions out of Nirvana and their ruggedly handsome singer is only testament to how effective a marketing campaign the media did, like they do with all fads. Even at 21 when Nirvana got big, I could see from the incessant promotion on every form of media back then that this band were clearly the subject of an overwhelming marketing ploy to create a new movement, a movement of mediocrity and musically unchallenging content to appeal to the widest range of undemanding listeners. The weight of all this fame, pressure and responsibility ultimately lead to the deaths of a number of the front men of these bands. As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing to be celebrated about this rancid cultural trend.

I had read somewhere that Kurt was very nervous and very insecure about this show. I don't quite know why but it always makes me sad, when I hear that _"OK?"_ that he says in the beginning of this video, around 0:08 _"...turn up my vocals a little bit on this song. Don't forget to mark it....OK?"_ You can tell that he's taking this very seriously. I think that he really wanted to show that he wasn't just some "punk rocker" that was only good at screaming and making a lot of noise with his electric, distorted guitar but that he was actually a real, a great songwriter. If you're a fan, obviously, you know how talented he was but most people who only heard of Nirvana had/have this image, this idea about them, that all they were, was a loud band with a Heroin addict as their front man and all they did was making a lot of noise and breaking their gear at the end of their shows. To this day, it makes me so sad, every time I watch this and see how Kurt wasn't sure if people really appreciated his songwriting and his vulnerability, his ability to be more delicate and to put emotions in his performance.

This didn't air until after Kurt passed away. All I did was cry during the entire airing.

Always a treat to see new Nirvana clips. It wasn't long after the unplugged performance that the full uncut show began circulating. Back then, it was a matter of e-mailing collectors and trading VHS tapes of shows. At St Marks Place in NYC, there would be a group of bootleg Nirvana cassette salespeople, armed with boomboxes to prove the "superior" sonic quality of their copy-of-a-copy-of-a-copy recordings. Hiss "Lithium, Mix 6" Hiss.
