BTS Speaking Chinese Reaction | Who Speaks the Best Chinese in BTS? 

Back when they debuted, they released a few of their songs in Chinese for the Chinese market, but I don't think they've released anything since then.

There was a time when China was a promising market for foreign media. Then stuff happened and foreign was equated with unpatriotic. But lots of K-pop stars learned Mandarin.

@@icollectstories5702 You're right. China was a huge market in the early days of Kpop. Lots of companies catered to China and Chinese speaking countries by having their artists learn Chinese or had Chinese ethnic members in their groups and even formed groups specified for that market. But things changed when China banned entertainment from Korea in the later part of the 2010s. In retrospect I think it was a really bad move considering a lot of Chinese were and still are into K-culture. I get China wanting their own people enjoying their own entertainment but people should be free to like and enjoy what they like.

@@aznmochibunny Well, there was the TWICE Tzuyu flag incident, but what really enraged the Chinese government was the installation of an anti-missile radar system in South Korea that peers into North Korea and as far into China as the US can manage. China decided this was a "Let's be enemies" declaration. To them, this was more of a war than a culture war. To the US, both North Korea and China have ICBMs pointed in their direction, so a good defense starts with launch detection. China was a major influence in the surrounding areas in Asia. I'm Vietnamese (though born in the US) and a lot of our cultural holidays, and even language, were influenced by the Chinese that we still use today. For example, we also celebrate Chinese New Year (of course we don't call it that, we call it something else), and have a lot of food that was influenced by China or are Chinese food. The Vietnamese language also used to be a variation on Chinese characters, but that was later changed to Roman letters due to French influence. As I say, what Britain was to Europe, China was to Asia back in ancient times.

@@aznmochibunny I read in a history of Vietnam that the very name "Vietnam" was a price China insisted the country pay for protection, the original name being Namviet. Sort of a quid-pro-quo.

@@davidsanders5652 Yes, and then the Vietnamese people switched it around. That's how we got Việt Nam. And yes, both Vietnam and Việt Nam are correct spellings. You can do either or.

@@tobylin6067 I have a android phone, I'm told it's much easier with an iPhone. The way I do it is a little awkward, if you hold down the letter you want, most of the tones are there, for the ones I didn't have, I found text with the letters and tones, I then loaded them into clipboard, it's slow, but my Pinyin is bad, so I'm slow anyway, I think with iPhone you can load a second language and use I think a key on the bottom left to switch back and forth
