Also watching/listening to Namjoon/ RM talk with Jackson(Got7) when they switch from Korean to English to mandarin if flipin impressive. Namjoon knows like 7 languages last I knew of. Actually in Korean when you see subtitles of BTS members talking they're so eloquent. Like I remember this one moment when Jungkook was speaking about how his members raised him and how he could be "a amalgamation of all the members personalities" and after that I started paying more attention to how they speak in Korean and if they sound so beautiful in Korean translated to English imagine how beautiful they sound in Korean. And a lot of native Korean speakers talk about how well they speak. So I'm sure if they had a wider vocabulary and more confidence in English they would decimate me lol. Especially that moment where J-Hope was talking about ARMY's during that radio interview. He sounded so beautiful. *sigh* let alone singing/rapping, talking and putting words together to express their emotions (even when they claim they can't) is already a talent they have. Btw I am currently learning Korean, Japanese and Thai (although I'm slacking in the latter two). I speak English, not exactly fluent in Hindi but I understand the gist of a conversation (proved myself when I watched an interview in Hindi with no subtitles 😌) and Afrikaans. In South Africa if you want to learn a new language that isn't part of the 11 official languages it's best to self learn 🙂.

@jyd1384
@jyd1384 3 года назад
It makes sense because BTS boys couldn't predict their chances in the US, so they didn't learn English communication after their debut. They've been learning English communication through their leader RM's coaching, but the process to be English speakers was not an easier thing. They should've learned English educational courses from grammar to diverse expressions but they couldn't get their time to learn that. Because their schedules are so tight. Some members of the Army have been saying that BTS boys' broken English looked so cute, but they should get their time to learn English speaking. Because most K-POP idols and their showbiz companies wanted to make a communication time with their fandom, so BTS's current English-speaking level can't be a positive side to those young Korean guys' fame and popularity. Therefore, the leader and spokesperson of BTS RM's role will be so important part of BTS's English communication practice.

I speak German, English, some Spanish, I had lots of Latin in school (which i enjoyed but cannot speak since it's not a spoken language) and now I'm learning Korean. I would love to learn more languages in the future though. French and Chinese could be fun. Here's a tip if you really actually seriously want to learn Korean: Give yourself time. Be patient. Listen for good pronunciation and imitate it (from what I've heard so far, I think you will do pretty well with that - you seem to have a good ear for intonation and stuff). If you need really really good learning materials, I would recommend "Talk to Me in Korean". They have a grammar line with a bundle consisting of a book and a workbook with podcasts that are really helpful.

People who speak several languages are called polyglots. I think RM’s English is amazing. Learning from watching “Friends” perhaps taught him to speak less formally and more like an ordinary person in America. JK did a song with Charlie Puth and I think he’s very motivated to learn English. Memorizing a song in English without really knowing what you’re saying must be frustrating. He had to use an interpreter to work out the performance with Charlie Puth. And it must be tiring for RM to always have to be the interpreter and for the other boys not to know what the joke is when RM is talking and joking with an interviewer.

I know a little bit of Spanish, Arabic, and French I can't speak but I can survive in these countries. I can order my food, tell what I want in the supermarket, tell the taxi driver where I want to go. I know the numbers and some phrases. :) I understand why English-speaking people think knowing two or three languages is a big deal. But we have to learn english, I mean this is one of the main international languages, I need it for my job. And also, just think about it. the movies, the music, the menu of my computer, smartphone, and other electronics. Even the manual of my washing machine is in English. You have to learn it. And for us is easy, because it is everywhere. The foreign people say my language - Bulgarian is really hard to learn, we use (and created) the Cyrillic alphabet. Looks like this - Поздрави от България! :)

i speak three languages but it's so common here most people are the same, in my country for you to be considered a rare or an outstanding multilingual you need to know more than 4 languages or 3 languages where one of them is rarely or not used in our country at all, basically anything more/other than arabic, french and english .. i'm algerian btw

My first language is Spanish and I'm fluent in English and almost in French. I've been studying Russian and now I'm starting with Korean, yup, 'cause of kpop... and it's not as hard as I thought... I love languages and I do want to be fluent in at least 5 before I die. And I'm on my way! Also it's so true that some non English natives speak better than some Americans.. and mostly in writing.. I guess since we really had to learn grammar etc, it sticks better, than it just it being your language...?
