I can only imagine that Sega had ambitious plans for this game. It had its own Cartoon pilot and the game design is clearly inspired by Sonic. Looks like they wanted this to be an entry just like Sonic, but I guess the devs weren't up for the task or there was other drama behind the scenes that lead to the game we know today.
@@MKWiiKid He spun the Ball before dying, Thus counting victory without Bubsy losing a life, but since Bubsy entered a death animation, The screen goes black, letting the score finish counting and automatically starting up the next level.
@@danielpl8535 I mean I get the hate TBH because it does have it's fair share of flaws, but it's one of my favorite games from my childhood so I'll always love it
@@sanjiisagee8481 btw, after reading many comments on this game, I realized that the main reason of hate was difficulty. Sonic allows you to survive a damage, this game doesn't. And frustration destroyed game experience for many people.
SAME. I played sega down her basement when I was sick and didn’t go to school my mom would take me to my grandmas and I would play genesis all day long! Such fun times
imagine knowing enough about bubsy's game and level design to speedrun it under 20 minutes. fantastic work, but i do have to question your life choices.
it’s not super complicated. you can start out with the sprinting and jumping over everything and see how far you get. that’s how i did it as a kid. at least up until the forest, dam levels. this is more entertaining than watching sonic.
@@teamhammerbros8466 bubsy sincerely fascinates me. everything about it is so awful in a genuine way that it's sort of endearing. they really wanted to make something that people liked, but managed to get everything wrong.
@@theghostofthomasjenkins9643 i like to say that it’s okay to like a bad game, just keep it in perspective. I like the pixel art, and i like the Woolies design, and the voice cuts from Bubsy, the hit detection works fine. but the level design is just so random and the camera is so zoomed in, with lots of unseeable death jumps. There are easily much worse games on the Snes library, especially unplayable ones.
16:54 does this imply that the whole game was a movie and the plot is the movie plot and the REAL plot is that bubsy is a famous movie star and they want to make another bubsy movie? WHAT?
I love this game! Btw does anyone knows why does/do the final boss/bosses has/have two heads? Is it a single individual with two heads or are they actually two individuals sharing one torso? (Conjoined twins?) Been wondering till now
IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS GAME IN LIKE OVER 5-10 YEARS ITS BEEN ENGRAINED INTO MY BRAIN BECAUSE OF HOW MUCH I PLAYED IT WHEN I WAS LITTL EFUCKING GAME IT WAS HARD
I mean, they put *12* different death animations, *3* Ledge animations, and voicelines for about every occasion. EGM even had the guts to hype the game a year before release. That's how you know it was going to be a good game.
Bubsy doesn't need to be the sonic of Nintendo, it needs to be bubsy. I'd rather play this game over sonic any day. I love them both but this one takes the cake.
I just got the snes cart, it's not an easy game. Not easy to win, not easy to enjoy, but that being said it does have charm. I'm surprised that they pushed the series as far as they did, hope to see the return of Bubsy one day
