Back in Romania after an eventful couple of days in Chisinau, Moldova.
In this video I start by checking out of the beautiful and affordable NF Palace Hotel in Bucharest's Old Town.
Then I take the train from Bucharest's main train station Gara De Nord to the stunning town of Brasov in Transylvania.
Prices, journey time and overall experience can be seen in the video.
If you're new here please remember to Subscribe and give the video a thumbs up.
Thanks for watching.

We're going back a few weeks here Jimmy 😉. I'm only getting around to editing one or two videos a week at the moment. It will be Xmas and I'll probably be posting videos with my sunburned face drinking on a beach 😂

This year the direct train Bucharest North - Chisinau was reintroduced, it is called "Friendship Train"(Trenul Prieteniei). It was taken out due to the pandemic, in March 2020. Gara de Nord means Northern Railway Station and is planned to be modernized, the building is a historical monument and the procedures are cumbersome, in addition to the lack of interest. By the way, Moldova is Romania, same language same blood.

I'd love to take that train when it starts running again. Thanks for all the info 👍

Ireland's own Jonathan Harker. Just don't fall asleep in any other part of the castle. It is very old, and has a lot of memories....

I’m headed to Romania at the end of April .. flying into Bucharest.. trying to decide if I want to take the train up to the town I’ll be in for 3 week or have them pick me up . I was planning on staying in Bucharest for the night then travel the next day as I gotta be in Mieraecu ciuc on Sunday.. like I said it’s 5 hour journey which would be a fantastic way to see Romanian country side . But 3 different bus/trains ?! It seems a lil crazy as bc I don’t know Romanian or Hungarian …
@PaulTheIrishPainter

If I were you I'd still take the train. If you get confused there will be plenty of people around that can help. Could be a nice experience

Romania wasn't part of the USSR but you can see the scars of communism everywhere (ugly soviet style brutalist architecture, old people;s attitude). 45 years of communism almost destroyed this once beautiful country :(

I made a mistake saying part of soviet union but yes for sure the communism sounds like it was brutal.

that CFR sign is older than the communists because it's the original design. The same sign was used during the monarchy and the fascists

@Romania Insight the "romanians" valachs migrated from Balkan to Cumania 1000 years after the dac tribe disappear. The "romanian" king was purchased in Germany in 1866.

Anyway. Brasov was built by the Saxons, not the Hungarians. It doesn't matter who were the first in a region. Not even those who ruled it for 1000 years or only 100. It matter who has an ethnic majority. The rest are just historical frustrations. Closed topic.

You are really frustrated, mate, Austria-Hungary was an empire which controlled one quarter of Europe. Read some Britannica
