Was in 4th grade when my grandma gave me a transistor radio with an earpiece. Could listen to the games at night with Jack announcing. Radio is the best medium for baseball. Oh the thrill of hearing the game!
There was a game 2 months ago in which Chip was losing his voice pretty much the entire game, and Brad really shined, filling in along with The Cat himself, Jimmy Hayes. In 56 career at-bats Brad never once hit a homerun, but he sure did hit it outta the park on that game, with the cards winning it too.
Growing up in Paducah, Kentucky, my dad used to say he could dial-in a game midway and tell whether the Cardinals were winning or losing just by the tone of Harry's voice.
Yes I definitely agree! You could hear Dan's great love for the Cardinals in his voice/broadcast. Every broadcast was spot on professionalism. I don't care about him drinking either...look at Mike Shannon. Problem was that Dan should have taken cabs or had someone else driving him if he was drinking. I definitely miss him.
