My dad recently passed away. He taught tennis and loved his bucket hats. I have pictures of him wearing one when he was in his teens in the 50s. He wore one throughout his life until his death in 2020. I'm learning all I can about them so I can wear one.
Love buckets!! I would add them to my collection. Especially if they are all over prints with a label. Iconic item for my generation of hip hop heads and streetwear. And really dope history lesson in this video. Kudos.

I had one when i was a kid that i got at a concert. Someone who was moving away stole it. I grew up without one and every chance i saw one, it never fit. Finally got one online but 3xL and still love buckets!
Ever since I watched Gilligan constantly in the 70's and then saw Jimmie Walker on Good Times I realized I just had to have one! Now I wear mine constantly.
Terrace wear/culture!! Huge in the British football (soccer) casual scene i.e. hooligans and ultras wearing designer cloths and bucket hats like FILA, Umbro, Adidas, Ellesse, Sergio Tacchini, Lacoste, etc. great scene to find pics of buckets on Instagram or just google image search! Cool video guys!
I just got e Prada bucket hat in Black colour but not sure how to style it. Perhaps you can show a video how to style it in different outfits? Thank you.
Interesting video, very informative don’t get me wrong, but you forgot to mention that bucket hats were also extremely popular in the United Kingdom in the late 1980s/early 1990s, particularly Manchester and the whole madchester scene that followed, which was similar to the hippie scene of the 1960s with its baggy clothing and euphoric, uplifting often chilled indie music fusing dance and psychedelia, often associated with rave culture and is a music scene that means a lot, and captures a very specific generation of devoted and loving fans in the UK. Find it pretty ironic you didn’t mention that, but you do use a picture of Reni, the drummer from one of the most iconic and revered Manchester bands of that time, The Stone Roses, and instead pass it off as a photo of a soldier from the 1940s 1:37
Reni from The Stone Roses is the TRUE legend of the bucket! They are called Reni hats by Brits under 60-WAY kooler then baseball hats!!!! long live the buck!!!!
I always loved bucket/boonie hats I grew up in Connecticut/ New York area in the 80’s/90’s and it was thee style the dope boys would where them and I definitely remember Gilligans island haha but I have always wanted and wore them mangold at first now it’s strictly military only.. United States military adapted them during the Vietnam war soldiers saw Asian wearing them and quickly adapted to it So yea I have it in my closet still to this day 2020
I ordered them online and when I saw the actual hats, I was afraid if they were in bad condition as they were all loose. At 1st , I expected its shape would be proper like it was shown on the website from where I bought. I was about to return them as I thought they are not in good condition, but thanks to u guys, I saw the video and got to know that they are not exactly stiff, once we wear them, we get that shape and look
I think as a dad of a autistic son. Park activities like children play area’s. Just came to mind now, OT therapy Training exercises is also good for displaying to every one that your working with special needs/ elderly / summer campers.
In New Zealand in the 70's bucket hats were pretty uncool......made mostly of canvas, cotton, or most cringe worthy yellow towelling!😆 They were worn a lot by dad's mowing their lawns/gardening/doing whatever; cricket players; and ten year olds trying not to get sunburnt. I'm amazed, and disturbed, my kids find them cool.
I got one at Zumiez like a $60 one it's halla nice!💯 I wear it a ton in all weather cuz it's just so dope. it's got the bigger brim too which is way better I think too. I put a expensive pin on the side for some flavor and this thing just a thug hat I think
I'd rock a bucket hat if I got one that resembled the one Jack Lemmon wore in the movie Grumpy Old Men. Of course I'd have to fold the brim up in the front like him in the movie.
Heyyyy...I'm 5 years too late but I love the bucket hat. I did add one to my brand's collection and plan to add to more. My next two are going to be for Alzheimer's Awareness and Aids Awareness.
