I haven't lived there but spent many many holidays in my fave city, once a year at least (when C-19 isn't raging of course). I love the 6th district (Terézváros) and beyond Teréz Körüt there are defo lots of quiet streets aswell. The 7th district is more of a party place, I have stayed there aswell and found it definitely more busy and noisy around there :-) And yes, public transport there is very well organised and it is easy to get around.

I’m interested in move - back - to Hungary. Nope. I never lived there but I visited a couple of times when my aunt was still alive (2003) but my mother was from Hungary and fled (unlike her sister in ‘56) I’ve always been intrigued by the Culture and History and I’m thinking it a better place to retire than the States... continuing my pursuits in IT and Video Theatre production.

Thank you for the comment. We appreciate the suggestion. We will reach out and see if we have any contacts that know students there. Our niche is singles and families living an expat life and less on foreign exchange student life because that's a whole other kettle of fish. We think that could be a separate RU-vid channel all on its own. Should we create that?

Can you give information regarding cost of giving birth and prenatal visits in Budapest without insurance?
@ExpatsEverywhere

It’s a difficult one to answer because you’ll need insurance to complete your visa work. So going there without it just wouldn’t really happen. You know?

No, not really,have to have a better reason then just buying property. If you are already an EU citizen, then it is easy to live in HU but per resident is complicated.

Hi. I'm looking at info about moving to Hungary. Ideally want somewhere on the greener side to live in. I have a partner (who has family in Hungary) and two children. Is an English or Hungarian school better? (Kids age are 5/7) also we'd want a job but really not sure how to go about it,were in Wales right now, know a tiny bit of Hungarian but not enough to hold a conversation. We also have a 15k deposit for a house here but might think about buying over there. Is there any advice you can give me to deal with the beginning and just the confidence of the move.

Hi Emmi, thanks for your question. International schools in Budapest are mainly English speaking and are generally good. Here's a resource for those. www.international-schools-database.com/in/budapest The American International School Budapest is particularly high level. As far as what's better, it's objective and slightly subjective as well. It depends on what you're going for. The language barrier is something to consider for your kids, however, if you want them to learn Hungarian and get local friends quicker, the Hungarian schools would be the route to go. A lot of the International schools are going to have more qualified teaching staff. Job market-wise, have you looked at job boards in your field or companies with a presence in Budapest that you'd like to work for? Start there. Use the family that you have there already as a way to grow your network. It's often times who you know not what you know. So start making connections in the key areas that you feel anxiety about and then you'll start to grow in confidence as your competence rises. Lastly, we have an interview with a Brit named Charlie who works at AISB. He talks about moving his family to Budapest in a really comprehensive interview. That video could go a long way in getting you excited about the potential move and having you feel more confident that it's the right move for you. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Lm3TOIdk2HA.html

@@ExpatsEverywhere thank you for your message. Next time I'm over I'll look into the schools. I'm hoping to go over there asap as I'm planning a wedding there so could kill two birds with one stone. Job wise over in Wales I've only done retail and I'm a support worker at the moment, but them two things would require fluent Hungarian I'd imagine. I'm struggling to find any good sites for finding work. I did see a video recently about a teacher coming over, he said he had everything paid for him including his house. Is that quite a common thing? Again thank you for your reply. Appreciate the links.

If you're going to live there, please learn to pronounce the name of the city. In Hungarian (Magyar) the letter S is pronounced like SH in English. And, respect the culture -- don't be an "ugly American."
@ExpatsEverywhere
@ExpatsEverywhere Год назад
And in English the global/internationally known city of Budapest is pronounced without the "sh" sound. It's not being an ugly American or ugly anything to pronounce a place the way you pronounce it in your own language when you're speaking your own language. If we were speaking Hungarian and then switched when we hit the word "Budapest" and pronounced it like it is in English, that would be weird for sure.
@forogafold
@forogafold Год назад
@@ExpatsEverywhere Not necessarily so. Pronounce the name of the city correctly, as intended. You will be more respected by persons native to the country.

@@Xmarcello88 I always say Budapesht (shh)because it sounds nicer.... I am an Australian, living in Sydney. But I have Hungarian Heritage and am seriously thinking about moving to Hungary, because I still have family there, in Debrecen, Tapolca, Miscolc and a few other places.
@Xmarcello88
@Xmarcello88 2 года назад
@@mariahewitt9787 I recently hear it from many Hungarians who grew up abroad or emigrated from Hungary that they want to move to Hungary. It's a new trend that people aren't leaving but rather moving back. I would like to understand the motivation behind that, especially from Australia or Florida haha... Cause I can understand that someone wants to come here from let's say Saskatchewan or Alaska but I cannot even imagine what makes someone move here from Australia 😃
