I loved my 2013 Buddy 50. Best purchase for a reliable maintenance-free scooter you can buy. Keep the maintenance up will keep on trucking down the road.
Just thought I’d make a view comments ... I bought my 125 a year ago and have put over 4000 mile on it I live in the midwest area so we get all kinds of weather. The bike preforms flawlessly getting about 90 mpg with a top speed of about 60 mph (I never ride on the freeway and I do live in a large metro area) I use it mostly to commute to work. round trip of about 20 miles, trips to the store or just riding around on week-ends. I changed the oil at 3500 miles and found it relatively easy and cheap at about $20. If your thinking of using this to replace a car keep in mind there are days when either rain, cold, snow or wind make it almost impossible to use so you should have a backup of some kind. Bottom line I love it !
If you only change the oil at every 3500 miles be ready to change the engine sooner than you have to. Be nice to your buddy and change the oil every 1000. That is why they made one of the numbers on your odometer red. So you can be reminded to service it. It is only 800cc of oil and that breaks down fast. I love mine but the low oil capacity is my only complaint. I drive like a nitwit so I have to change mine every 800. Check your manual for service intervals.
You’re just like me, except I commute on a 50cc 32mi round trip. On days when it rains (really rare in southern CA), I just take an Uber. Uber on rainy days is WAY cheaper than a car payment. Plus, I get chauffeured around.
It depends on your needs. A small car is safer, holds more stuff, holds more people and is weather resistant. The scooter is cheaper, more fun, easier to park and better on gas.
