I don't know why Buddy is not near as big in Nashville as he should be. He is one of the best writers and performers in the business. I have been listening to his for a long time.
What a brilliant song!! Saw Diana Krall perform it live at Kenwood London and she did it much justice. I think her version will bring it in to the mainstream.
Lucky to be at this show a few years ago...Buddy Miller never disappoints, and his precious wife Julie never did, either, when we were privileged to see her perform, as well. I saw them with this gentleman playing the bass a few times, but I've not seen him performing with anyone at any Americana-style shows I have attended in the past 2 or 3 years. Does anyone know his name and if he is still playing in Nashville?
How i wish Johnny Cash had recorded this for one of the American Recordings albums with Rick Rubin , it would have been perfect for him and that voice .
Buddy does this the best. I just saw a PBS tribute to Levon Helm, some kinda all star thing and Roger Waters and Amy Helm did a version of this. It sort of had a Pink Floyd vibe to it but still not nearly as good as Buddy.
