Just bought and put together. Seems pretty sturdy all around. I ended up using a manual screwdriver and didn't have any issues. Took about an hour. I wood glued the crap out of the inside just for extra strength. Would definitely recommend.
@@NoFate247 I like to do anything with sandbags just for the added weight. Mainly step ups, dips, and of course box jump. Just recently getting back into fitness and just building a little home gym in my spare bedroom.
SPOILER ALERT: For non-DIY people, assembly requires 2 people AND A POWER DRILL. The dinky phillips head screwdriver will not get the screws seated below the surface of each side. And a power drill will allow you to anchor the interior support braces by drilling through opposite sides of one of the dimensions of the box.
Took another look to see where I went wrong. So I could have had it 1 of 2 ways. I could have had both 16's facing in the same direction but the handles would have been on opposite corners. Or both handles at the same side, making it easier to carry (for me).
Nice video. But my problem: I bought this a few months ago, but just finally got around to opening the box (a long story, I'll spare you). NO assembly instruction sheet--and I've searched thoroughly. I was excited to see the sheet appear in the video briefly at 5:33, but unfortunately the the text is not legible. I'm unwilling to just experiment to put it together, firstly because I'm not good at such things, and secondly, as you said, trying to disassemble it to redo is a bad idea because of poor screws. Is there ANY way someone can post the instruction sheet somewhere? The Yes4All website provides no way to contact them, and it's probably too late to complain to Amazon....
Instructions are 1 sheet and they stink, see the link i'm attaching. Use wood glue when you assemble it if you can remember to. good stuff, i’m sold. i think it’s nice that there’s internal bracing at all but good points about the screws. i’ll prob use some longer drywall screws when i assemble
Great question! How low you going to go? 24 or the 20? I think with heavy squats it'd hold up cause it is super sturdy and I think the bigger risk is from massive impact not static loading like sitting on it from a box squat. Def. use wood glue when you assemble it but I've used worse stuff on box squats (just never went super heavy)
@@NoFate247 I do CrossFit like 3-4 times per week. Built a little set up in the garage buying a little at a time. Looking at the Bells of steel box or a heavy foam box. Really like the abmat box but so expensive
Ah! Gonna need to experiment here - Mine came with instructions saying there should be three golden screws and there is no golden screws. Also - the wood they gave me is wrong. The sheet says it's supposed to be fitted with one screw but there's two holes not one and the holes are too big for the screw and two holes on the ends of this same piece of wood and no where for the holes to be placed where there is actually a hole on the other side ? So confused rn.... this box wasn't actually cheap in my opinion at 160$ dollars or so , so kinda made me mad... I don't recommend.
