You could use Skytrak with their app or E6 Connect with the Garmin R10 or even the Mevo+ and have them all on an Ipad or phone and then use an converter to HDMI or even something like Airplay to have it show up on your TV. I do. I kept getting the grass stains on my clubs even over time with the Monster Mat and overall just prefer the thickness of the SwingTurf mat a bit more. They are close but for sure the nod goes to the SwingTurf.
@@GarageGolf It doesn't look like the SwingTurf has an option for rubber tees like Monster Mat does. You indicated in the Monster Mat video, that using real wood tees in hitting mats is not always a good idea. I've seen other videos that say that real tees can break down the mat more quickly. Your thoughts?
Hi Steve, its been a bit since I've tested either but believe you are correct about the SwingTurf not taking rubber tees. My suggestion for either would be the Birtees which I would much rather use instead. You can find those here: amzn.to/48cokpQ Any color but white should be fine.
My biggest issue is the r10 requires 8ft of ball flight and 8 ft from my 7ft net I’m hitting balls over the a lot (foam balls as I’m terrified to hit a real golf ball)

Is a 7x7 net large enough to catch the high lofted clubs along with being far enough way to get acceptable readings from the r10? From my understanding you need a bit of space for the r10 to read the ball flight.
From the R10 Manual (available free from the Garmin website): "NOTE: The tee location must be at least 8 ft. (2.4 m) away from the net when playing indoors." So if the loft exceeds 41 degrees, at 8’ away the ball will go over the net. (Actual results my 60 degree LW goes over my 10 ft net from 15' on a full swing).
@@michael2782 So given your example of 15’ back and your lob wedge getting over the net at 10 feet it would seems like your launch angle is just over 33 degrees to clear the net. To clear then net a 41 degree launch angle is needed at 8 feet in theory is should catch a normal full swing lob wedge with a little room for high shots?
It was sent to me wrapped in a cardboard box. You should be able to put that on a flight as one of your luggage pieces from there. It should be protected inside the box and is normally wrapped in plastic inside as well.

You featured a net that catches the golf balls. I am trying to find out what type of shots are causing the ball to spin back at me when I hit balls into a net. I don’t have a launch monitor currently. Not sure what this indicates? Some of my shots hit the net and fall below the net.
Not 100 percent sure Ken. I think your best best is to get a launch monitor to check numbers and see why some of these shots are doing this. Looking at items such as spin and angle of attack would be good indicators to see why they may be doing what they are doing. The net may be part of the cause as well if it is tighter in some areas than in others causing the ball to do this. Overall a good launch monitor would get you sorted. You could always start with something like the Garmin R10 and go from there but a really cool product.
Why not recommend the Monster Mat? You seemed fond of that it can be had for $380 with a coupon code? Is the Rain or Shine mat really that much better for $200+ more on a budget sim?
Not the biggest fan of that mat in my testing. I like what I like, basically. The mat left green stains on my clubs and pieces of the mat all over my sim room. I have been told that the problem has been fixed but I have heard others have still had that problem. My go to mat is not the Swing Turf but instead the Sig Pro Softy by Shop Indoor Golf. If you are in a lower price point I would still recommend the SwingTurf from my testing, yes. I do feel it is that much better of a mat.
@@GarageGolf thanks for the feedback, appreciate it! Completely get the club film and shaving can drive people nuts and is a flaw. Was there anything else performance wise you didn’t like, like joint pain or bad launch data?
@@thegoalnet5915 It wasn't overly forgiving on the joints either but then again neither is the SwingTurf. I would use a cheaper mat and then cut in the Sig Pro Softy insert now if I redid this video in all honesty. That is the best I've tested.

Been in line with garmin for the R10 for over 5 months. Get weekly updates and the last update still stating they have no idea when they will get more. Such a joke.
Great video! I am wondering however, why you say this is by far the most affordable simulator on the market? Having recently researching components for my own set up, it appears that Optishot 2 is currently the most affordable option out there. Just wondering why you might feel differently, and if it's possible to have you do a video about a build revolving around the Optishot specifically. Keep up the great work guys!
To be fair, the Optishot 2 is a glorified video game. It can even be used without a ball. It is not in the same category as a true launch monitor to be honest and you are much better off saving a bit more and getting the Garmin R10.
To be fair the optitshot is actually a toy. You can adjust your “power” I hit a pw over 700 yard with a half swing no joke…. Ball literally flew across the course 😂😂😂
