Great Video. what would you recommend for 2.5 - 2.8 range. currently got bose cinemate series II. Considering R-820F 5.1 WITH R-52C system or mixing up a few rps. Have high ceiling in living rom so atmos or too many side speakers is tough positioning, can stick with good 5.1 or 5.2. Thank You.
Bro, the level of editing, sound FX, and vision is amazing. Thanks for putting in so much work in to your videos, you’ve helped many decide before spending hundreds of dollars!
I was waiting for this comparison. Great video. Thank you. I know this is a long shot but would new Denon AVR-S760H (75w) receiver suffice to drive these R625Fa (100w) tower speakers ? Would I be running into clipping ?
Nah, those tower speakers are so incredibly sensitive (96dB) it doesn’t take much to get them loud. That Denon will still be just fine. That is until the home theater bug bites again and you want bigger, better stuff to upgrade to. 😄🤘
Bought 5.1.4 from costco for $499 last week. Use them with Onkyo TXNR7100. Pretty good for my first home theater. I am happy. Been using atmos soundbar forever...
Love to have the tower system for my Singapore home. Wat is the box dimension of the tower system and weight? Any good freight forwarder and shipping rates to Singapore?
Well, soon after this video came out, this system went out of stock and Costco never put it back in stock. ☹️ But Klipsch is releasing an updated version to their reference line of speakers in the Spring, so maybe Costco is also getting a newer version of the tower system at the same time? 🤷♂️ As far as shipping to Singapore…wow…I’m not sure about that at all, sorry.
Hmmmmm Maybe get 2 tower systems and use 2nd pair as surrounds and ATMOS but towers . Cheaper to buy these thanks individually &819.00 each ATMOS tower
Thank you for the video. Just purchased the Klipsch 5.0.2 Tower System and the Denon s760h. Would love a video or some tips for setting it up. PS I already have a Klipsch R-120SW. Thanks!
Hey so I have a question I bought the 5.1.4 speaker set im new to atmos. So the only receiver at costco says atmos is a Denon AVR s760H, it says 7.2 channel so would that only be capable of 5.1.2, so two of those satellite speakers wouldn't be able to use the top firing speaker? Unlike the more expensive ones that say "height" and have 4 of them, this one only says surround back L and R. So is it actually atmos or in software it would use those two surround back as height? What is the best receiver under a thousand that would support 5.1.4? Thanks appreciate the help.
Unfortunately, the only 9 channel receivers under $1000 are used ones, like the Onkyo TX-NR787 or 797, for example. But honestly, the upward firing speakers in the 5.1.4 system are just okay…so only utilizing 2 of the upward firing speakers still wouldn’t sound too bad with the Denon S760H since the main satellites are great! I know it’s a bummer you’re not using ALL available speakers with the S760H, but these days with shipping delays and supply chain issues, 5.1.2 is better than nothing! 😁🤘
@@ealanosborne so that is correct then what I said, the S760H can do 5.1.2.. the receiver is 450 dollars vs 1500 for the AVR 3700H.. is there a 1k dollar difference in sound :) ? Thanks.
@@cranbers Haha! Yes, the s760h can do 5.2.2, if you want to get technical, since it can support up to 2 subwoofers. But the x3700h does have its advantages, like more power, and a better processing chip (the X series is better than the S series). It also has a full set of pre outs on the back to be able to use external amps instead of using its own internal amps. It’s able to process audio much better when not having to worry about powering speakers as well. But external amps cost more money on top of the receiver itself, so it’s a very expensive ordeal. 😄 But it does help to have such a receiver if you plan on upgrading over time. But for what it’s worth? The s760h is a killer deal, no doubt. 🤘
Elan Osbourne what kind of surround sound system would you use for a bedroom i got a 65 inch panasonic plasma tv the bedroom is pretty big id say the ceiling is about 10 foot high
Hmmm…I’d maybe look into a Jamo bookshelf system. Start with the 5.0 speaker system on Amazon (link below) and then get an S808 or s810 sub. Beyond that (if you want Atmos height effects) get either one or two extra pairs of s801 bookshelf speakers, depending on how big you wanna go with your 10 foot ceilings. Although that does mean they would need to be powered by a receiver, so I’m not sure if you already had an extra one to use for your bedroom. Or maybe go the soundbar route if you want an easier (and possibly cheaper) bedroom setup. 🤷♂️
Awesome video Ealan, as always. I bought the tower speakers along with Two additional subs from costco. Can you help to confirm how should i set the frequencies of my speakers in denon? Any thing you could share would help. I remember once you mentioned to use audessey and than manually tune it, but would wait for your confirmation.. like select small speakers in settings so on….thanks once again.
Honestly whatever you’re into (or whatever your SO allows, haha!) Our new house is getting built and will be done in September, and I plan on having a Sony HT-A9 in my new living room (because that’s what my wife agreed on 😁).
@@ealanosborne yes I’m liking that my tv is a new A80J so it’s ideal for the new A9 system. It’s way more cost but less to manage and it’s super small compared to a whole system. I don’t know I am torn.
Is this still good value today? (Jun 2024) - they've just taken $500 off the $1799 price this week - so now $1299. Would you still recommend this? Thanks for all the great and entertaining content!
I also discover your channel just recently... awesome video as the other ones!!!! what would you recommend for my apartment that has high ceilings (about 18 feet)? Is it possible to enjoy dolby atmos with these system from costco? Or will i have to install some speakers on the ceilings?
Hmmm…18 feet is some serious height! Well, Atmos doesn’t HAVE to be from the ceiling. Atmos height speakers can also be placed directly above your left and right front speakers, maybe about 8-10 feet up the wall. Same with the surrounds - mount height speakers directly above them 8-10 feet up the wall. But since they’re so high, make sure they are angled down at your listening position to get the best effect. 🤘 An Auro 3D configuration goes off that same principle, if you’re curious to look that up too. 👍
Great review. I just bought this set at Costco on sale for $750, with the intention to buy the receiver after Christmas. If my upper limit for the receiver is $1,500, which one do I want to pair with the Klipsch 5.1.4 package?
Ealan I have a question for you. I have the 5.0.2 system and just got a subwoofer. My pioneer receiver goes from 100hz, 80z then 60hz. As you know the 5.0.2 speakers all don’t mesh at 80hz. So where would you set the crossover for the subwoofer on the receiver? In need of a pros help. Thanks in advance.
I would try 100 Hz first, to try and account for the center speaker and surrounds not being able to dip as low as the towers. But if that doesn't seem to gel well, I would still try 80 Hz. Everyone's room reacts differently. 🙌
@@ealanosborne it’s just confusing since on the crossover on the pioneer receiver does all. There’s no option to do individual speakers like on your videos.
Any recommendations for an old apartment where subwoofers are NOT allowed? (And no, moving is not an option.) You mentioned the tower system rattled the walls... at what sort of volume? I'd really like to be immersive with surrounds, but can sacrifice some of the bottom end. Thanks.
I’d maybe just get a nice sound bar, then, if subwoofers aren’t an option. Bose Soundbar 900, Sonos Arc or Sony HT-A7000, depending on your budget. They all have optional surrounds you could purchase as well. 👍
@@ealanosborne Thanks for the recommendations. And I'd like to echo the comments here and give kudos to your editing and total presentation. I subscribed a few months ago and really enjoy the channel.
From Bangladesh here. Had to restart your video a couple of times to confirm it’s not an ad and you are showing the National Parliament of Bangladesh at the beginning of uour video. Thanks. Made my day 😃
Yeah, someone else informed me that it’s your parliament building. It was one of the few free stock videos I found that looked like some huge arena event. 😄❤️
Yes, definitely! The only caveat is that you’ll only be able to utilize 2 of the 4 upward firing Atmos speakers with a 7 channel receiver. But I get it! 9 channel receivers are so much more expensive! It’ll still sound great with that Onkyo receiver. 🙌
@@robertdeboer1683 Just 2 Atmos speakers to the receiver. The upward firing speakers are already a tad weak as it is, so doubling up on a single receiver channel would make them even weaker.
So I bought the Denon AVR-S760H 7.2 Ch AVR. This will work for the tower system with ba subwoofer but not the smaller Cinema system? I'm new to this but want to use all of the speakers' capabilities. Please help me out . Thank you
Correct. The 5.1.4 Cinema System has 4 upward firing Atmos speakers built in to the 4 main satellite speakers, so you would technically need a 9 channel receiver to power all those speakers. But with the tower system only having 2 built-in Atmos speakers in the towers themselves, that only adds up to 7 speakers, so the S760H is perfect. 🤘
@ealanosborne so either way I only will have 2 front upwards firing speakers. I am coming from a samsung 400 watt sound bar woofer with satellite speakers. How much of a sound difference will it be for smaller Cinema atmos system (7.2 channel)? Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it 👍🏻
@@GaryReyes777 Yes, only using 2 Atmos speakers, even with the 5.1.4 Cinema System. But I think it’ll be quite the improvement. Soundbars are perfect for a certain niche of those wanting something better than TV speakers, easy to setup even for an average consumer. But there’s still no comparison with a traditional wired system powered by an AVR. You’re gonna like the difference, even if it’s the smaller 5.1.4 Cinema System.
@ealanosborne just a thought what would happen if you wired two upwards firing speakers together on 1 channel one right side front one right side back. And same for left side? Is there a different sound coming from the front and rear upward firing speakers if I had a big enough receiver?
@@GaryReyes777 Yes, there is a difference with 4 height channels, since it creates a cube that 3D audio objects can move around in that the mixing engineers intended. Doubling up on connecting 2 height channels would also reduce the audio signal somewhat, so you might not even get much of an effect since you’d have to turn it up even more than usual, and the S760H isn’t the most powerful AVR to begin with. 🤷♂️
So after watching your review on the reference cinema 5.1.4 and getting that and an extra sub. Not even a month later I’ve ended up finding a great deal on two R-625FA’s and an RP-504c. So I’m re-doing my entire front section here in a few days lol. Cheers sir, glad I found your channel!
Hey hope all is good. quick question. Do you have multiple sub woofers and what would be the benefits of 1 vs 2 . could you make one sub woofer punchier and the drawn out bass. sorry for the teminology. Thanks for your views....
A lot of times it's better to have 2 subwoofers since it will help balance the low frequency waves traveling around your room. One is usually good, but two might pressurize your room better, filling in gaps around certain pieces of furniture that one subwoofer might have trouble with. 👍
Link is below, but to be honest, I was VERY fortunate that I got them for free awhile back. Stands are expensive! If you’re good with DIY projects, I highly recommend doing some nice wooden stands for a fraction of the cost. Lots of RU-vid tutorials on that. 🤘
So I had watched the 5.1.4 video and you mentioned a 9.2 for receiver, would the tower set need the same or would that be a 7.1. not gonna lie it all confuses me. Not the brightest bulb
Yeah the tower system only needs a 7 channel receiver since it has 5 main speakers + 2 upward firing Atmos speakers. Although it’s been out of stock since December and no sign of restocking. Although the Reference line of speakers from Klipsch are getting a slight upgrade this Spring, so maybe Costco is also getting a newer version of the tower system simultaneously? 🤷♂️
Greetings, I have 5.1.4, do you think I have a good home theater plus another added sub woofer, which receiver should I buy, and I ask, can I add some towers?
but I ask, is this equipment a good investment plus another 12sw subwoofer that they sell at costco, will it sound strong and powerful is my question? I would like you to clarify the doubt, thanks and regards
@@neftalirodriguez6509 Yes. The 5.1.4 or tower system is a great introductory system for those starting out with a traditional home theater. It is powerful for a medium sized living room, even when paired with a 7 channel Denon, Yamaha, Sony or Onkyo receiver. A good investment for those who want to eventually upgrade to bigger and better things later on without having to start all over (like if you invested in a sound bar). 🤘
Awesome comparison and awesome video love the way u explain things Question!!! Since you have both and I think would also be a good comparison video What would you Prefer better your Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.1 And the setup That you did with the bookshelf speakers To make it a Dolby ATMOS and u can throw in a second Subwoofer or the Klipsch Reference Cinema System 5.1.4 with Dolby ATMOS also with a second subwoofer because your pretty much spending close to the same amount of money and the end of the day will u do save a little more money with the Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.1 setup but what would you choose for the better Dolby ATMOS sound
I’d still go with the Theater Pack and extra speakers setup, because that way you’re still having to mount actual speakers and pointing them down at your listening position. The 5.1.4 Cinema system’s upward firing speakers are sub par at best, and only work with low ceilings…kind of. Having actual speakers pointed at you for Atmos effects is always superior to bouncing sound off another surface. That being said, the main satellite speakers in the 5.1.4 Cinema system are still superior to the Theater Pack - bigger and better. So they both have their pros and cons. 😬🤷♂️
Okay I finally got this system 5.0.2.,and the surround back left and right are not working same with the center channel. I have them plugged in, in the correct plug in the back of the receiver. I plugged in the mic set up it comes with the receiver and it does make noise individually each channel speaker. I made sure to choose 5.2.2 option on the setup input as I have in my living space but no good outcome :/. Please help. Left and right surround back as well center speaker not playing audio while playing movie/music. The receiver I’m using is the Onkyo TX-NR6050
Can we use 5.1.4 speaker set with 5.1.2 av receiver only connecting for Atmos surround, front speaker Atmos not required Shall i leave them like that without connecting ???
The performance comparison becomes a no brainer when you take the same 5.0.2 Tower System and add the entry level R-12SW Sub making a 5.1.2 system. I recently picked up this same kit/setup from Adorama on sale for ~$870+tax (~$1170 reg price). That's only $20 more than the reg price of the Costco Cinema system and $120 more when the same Cinema system goes on sale at Costco. Definitely worth the upgrade!
Great video, glad I made the right choice! thought 4 upward channels sounded too good to be true, and its hard to find a cheaper 9 channel receiver to power that, but I had a question about how you run the crossover on the center channel of the 5.0.2, do you run it at 90 or 100 since its frequency response starts at 89HZ? also would love to see a breakdown of of the different settings on my AVR, while watching RU-vid when I first got it it was stereo audio coming out of the towers, but for many of my classes it wasn't as clear and I realized I could switch to surround mode, and it outputs dialogue out of the center channel, and I can use the dialogue enhancer feature if I need to hear my professors a bit more clearly. I have never turned it above 50% ish, but one of my professors has no gain on their mic so I turned it up to 75%, i didn't notice any base at 50% but at 75 I could feel vibrations as he typed on the keyboard, and when he bumped his desk, my desk actually shook a bit! would love to get a bit more base at lower volume, idk much about the Denon 760h AVR modes but would love to learn more about possibly boosting the base a bit until I get a sub, so I don't have to turn it up so loud to feel it. and it is much louder then my cheap $40 Logitec desk speakers which i ran at about 80 - 90% and my computer volume was maxed just to hear my professors, its a lot clearer now mostly ran at 50% compared to close to max with much smaller speakers!
Awesome video, question if anyone wants to answer,I have 2 Rs-12w subs that my wife's stupid cats scratched the top of,is there anything I can do to cover up or paint the scratches what can I use thanks
What do you think I should do. They have a sale for the cinema speakers for 600, but I want the tower speakers. Should I wait and see if they have a new lineup this spring or just purchase what's available now
I'd probably wait. The new lineup is supposedly an even better bang for your buck, which hopefully means Costco will revive the 5.0.2 package at that time...possibly this time as a 5.1.2, including a subwoofer finally? Let's hope so!
A lot of people on Reddit say that Klipsch is simply inlfated prices on most of these items and that the 2 systems on costco are inferior to even counterparts in same range. People do recommend buying Klipsch Reference Premium though when it is goes on sale. What's your take on that?
I think Klipsch’s Reference line is just fine for any budget conscious/noob to traditional home theaters. Pretty good quality for the price. And Jamo speakers, too (which is owned by Klipsch). I’ve been suggesting Klipsch for a couple years now for those just starting their home theater journeys and have had almost exclusively positive feedback. But it’s true that the RP line has much better quality parts and is a better way to go IF you can afford it. 🤘
@@ealanosborne Hey thanks for the response, I have a 25*14 ft living room. all I need is a decent sound system. I had a Vizio M51-H6 for some time that I returned due to connectivity issues. My budget is about a thousand dollars. Would you recommend something?
Purchased the tower set and it will be delivered Wednesday. Just wondering what wire comes with it. I have a spool of monoprice 14 awg that I can use but if it comes with better would use that. Does anyone know what is shipped with it?
If I remember correctly, it was some simple 16 AWG wire that shipped with it. Good enough to get by. But I'd use your 14 AWG, and use what Costco ships with it only if you run out of the 14 AWG.
@@ealanosborne thank you for the info and the review. Made my indecisiveness a little easier to deal with...unfortunately they haven't even arrived yet and I'm already looking at upgrades haha
My build plans keep changing. I still haven't opened my Reference Cinema System, may now return it. With the current half off deal I ordered two R820F towers, and a 12" R120SW sub, now my question is can I just get the cheap Costco Reference Theater system (now on sale for $350!) for the center and use its 4 speakers as 2 rear surround +2 Atmos mounted high wall/ceiling? Or is there something with the Atmos specs where it wouldn't be ideal through those speakers with the rest of my now higher end system? Other option is I can get all three parts higher end separately for about $650 (R52C, R51M, R41SA). Final question, will my Costco Denon S760H 75w/ch receiver be weak for this system, the 150w rms towers in particular? It's a pretty small room so doubt I'll need it turned up too loud. I have come this far so I'm tempted to spend the extra for higher end to complete the system but just wondering if this would work. Thanks in advance for your help once again! Edit: Now after much more reading and realizing the importance of a decent center channel for movies, I'm planning on just keeping the Cinema set and using two of the main speakers for Atmos, and using the 10" sub and center it comes with. Cancelled the 12" sub order for now, can add it later as second if I want. So basically swapping out those two front l/r for the R820F towers, which will be great for regular stereo content. Later if I move to a 9 channel receiver I can just connect the two rear built in up firing Atmos speakers and I'll have 5.1.4 or 5.2.4.
Whoa! Sounds like you got everything squared away! 😀 Trust me, I know the feeling - should I get this or that or this? I’m sure you’ll love your setup for quite some time…until the upgrade bug bites again. 😄🤘
@@ealanosborne this Klipsch half off sale threw me through a loop! As a noob to this, finding your videos has been super helpful. Really looking forward to getting it all set up. Thanks again for the reply!
Hey try moving around the room and see how the bounced sound behaves: going closer to the speaker doesn't necessarily mean more volume on account of how these upward firing speakers are conceptually designed. They use phase in such a way that more or less approximates a stanading wave with the reflection of the sound from the user's intended position (central to the room usually). Seeing how each sound is a different frequency (and wavelength), the speculated ceiling position would have to differ for each sound respectively in order to have a good experience, so unless you can move your ceiling for each sound on the fly, bouncing sound will never sound as good as just having a dedicated speaker at the point where sound is supposed to come from. It's a gimmick (and I think manufacturers know this but are riding the fad), and when folks wise up to this, bouncing sound will go the way of the dodo (unless they add A.I. in the mix, which could maybe go around this through active aproximation and prediction)
I went with the tower system on sale from Costco at $100 after having bought 2 more of the surrounds on sale I think they $50 off. Then I found 2 of the subs from Newegg on sale at $159.00 each. Now I am just patiently waiting for the Onkyo Tx-rz50 to ship from another vendor.
I just wanted to add that the surrounds from this 5.0.2 atmos klipsch system go on sale for 89.99 a pair at costco, so you can add 2 pair and make this set up a 7.0.4 system for 999.99 I did this exact thing and it is great!! I went with SVS PB-1000 Pro subs for a 7.2.4 but for comparisons sake the 799.99 price point in store for the 5.0.2 is everyday in store, then the surrounds go on sale for 89.99 at certain times throughout the year. tough to beat, at 799.99 + 89.99 + 89.99 = 7.0.4
@@ealanosborne lol my favorite part, these subs are connected to my x3700h Denon and WoW the experience is great!! You feel everything. They are so precise that it's just crazy. You will hear an effe t in the left rear surround that is accented with heavy bass, maybe a gun or so etching, and you can not sense the bass co.i g from in front if you, rather it seems like it is all coming g from the little surround, it's amazing and I highly recommend the PB1000 pro, I got 2, they will give you two discounts if you ask, essentially 15% off all said and done. Your video on the Costco speakers got me started this is the culmination of what I learned from you and then so e common sense and a pile of cash.
@@snakeyes273 nice, great time to grab a solid surround cheap. When I was building my system I bought two pair and they sat in their boxes for a month while decided what I was doing, I figured I can use them one way or the other. Glad I did. These speakers go for 229 a pair at times, it's a great deal at 89.
I think it's worth noting the price breakdown to make everything operational. The cinema system requires a 9 channel receiver which is drastically more expensive then a 7 channel needed with the tower system. In fact you can buy the 12 inch sub and a 7 channel receiver for less then a 9 channel receiver by itself. I would be curious to see all your calibration settings on the tower setup.
Absolutely! The tower system requires a 7 channel receiver to power all the speakers, so a 9+ channel receiver will be able to handle 1 more subwoofer and more speakers. 👍 But any receiver with more than 7 channels starts to get real expensive real fast.
I thought the joke about aunt and uncle swinging was pretty funny, granted I thought he meant they come out swinging at each other as in they loved to fight. But he made it clear what he meant pretty quick there haha.
@@ealanosborne thank you. I almost gave up that Costco will bring these bad boys but I got lucky and find them last weekend and can’t wait for them to be delivered this Friday😊
Cinema set for PC in an apartment? Win. I could spend a ton for better speakers, but in my small space...kinda wasted. Emotiva 5 channel amp, schiit Syn 5.1. Amazing gaming sound! I ditched the Atmos and bridged the woofers...not many Atmos games out there..I think?
But seriously you have $3500-$4000 and I want to Atmos surroundsound and everything I need what would you get.. i’m 50 years old just getting back into this I was into the really big in the 80s and early 90s but then kids came along..
As always, a great review, Ealan! After viewing all of your informative videos, I was able to help setup a Dolby ATMOS Home theater. Here you go: ARCAM AVR390 (7.1.4) Russound P75 (to power 4 heights) Klipsch 5.0.2 Tower System (not using the 2 heights) Klipsch 5.1 Theater Pack (not using the center) Klipsch R-41M (pair) Klipsch R-12SW Subwoofer With these, I was able to use the best speakers up front (2 towers, 1 center, and R-12SW), while putting (4) R-41M's for the rears and rear surrounds. Then I used (4) 50W speakers from the 5.1 Theater Pack, for the heights. To top it off, I put the 8" down-firing wireless Subwoofer in the back of the room (diagonal from the front-firing R-12SW), to help create a true 7.2.4 ATMOS theater with 6 recliners. What do you think? :)
Hey Ealan, thanks of the great video, I was waiting for this comparison video and happy that you did it. I bought the tower system in Costco for 899 and price matched it to 799 when it went for sale last week. I got the 2 klipsch 12SW on sale for 169$ each as you suggested 2 is always better than 1. Got Denon S760H 7.2 in Costco and my setup is down to 5.2.2. My only question is that the receiver gives 75W per channel but the speakers in this setup are around 100 w and height channel is 75 w. Would there be any problem as the receiver might not give sufficient power to speakers......???????
No problem at all. The Denon s760h is still what I would consider a budget receiver, but it’s fantastic for the price. And with the Klipsch speakers being so incredibly sensitive (especially the towers), it doesn’t take much to get them loud. But this is also a great foundation for any future upgrades, because once you start…it’s hard to stop once the home theater bug has bitten you. 😄
Great video! Makes me really want to get back into videos of my own. That said, I see the tower system is at Costco for $900. But the Cinema System is on Amazon for $340 so for someone coming from garbage speakers that are currently blown and have been for a year, I think the $340 makes the most sense to me since the difference for an audiophile seems to be minor. Question for you though coming from someone who is a noob at all this: I have an Xbox One (Trying to get the Series X if it would go on sale anywhere for more than 3 seconds, guess I gotta wait until Black Friday) and it currently hooks up to an old dvd player/sound system thing via an SPDIF Output (I believe that is what it is). The speakers came with wires attached (5 speakers plus sub just like this) so I'm not used to how to set any of this up at all if I replace it with the $340 5.1 system (Or shoot, is that not the same as the 5.1.4 at Costco? See this is why I'm a noob. Is there a difference or much of one? Google searches are letting me down on all this. What do I need to buy in addition to the speakers to make this work and how should I go about setting this up? Currently none of my wires are even hidden, they are just hung up on the wall.
The Amazon system that you referenced is the “Klipsch Black Reference Theater Pack 5.1”, the Costco system referenced in the video is the “Klipsch Reference Cinema System 5.1.4 with Dolby ATMOS”. They’re two completely different systems unfortunately. Also, you need an AV Receiver to connect any of these speaker systems to your devices.
I just picked up the 5.1.4 cinema system in-warehouse for $399. The tower system was never discounted lower than $799. At that price, it's probably good enough lol.
I commented on your other video but I originally purchased the cinema system with a 7.2 receiver (ignorantly). I came to your videos and realized I couldn't utilize all them so I returned the cinema and bought the tower and the wireless sub. So pumped can't wait to set it up. My neighbors are gonna hate me lol
Great video! I’ve seen a few of them already and you are hilarious. The production quality was amazing on this one as well. Because of you I ended up getting the 5.1.4 and got a hell of a deal at 50% off from Amazon because it was an open box unused product. Considered the tower speaker however after seeing the size of the speakers I figured it won’t fit in my small apartment and I was sure to get noise complaints lol. Keep up the great work and thank you for what you do.
Your original video made me go out and purchase the tower system. I don’t regret that decision for a minute. Just waiting for the RZ50 to arrive so I can really enjoy it.
Man I just discovered your channel a couple days ago looking at these two exact options for my first "real" home theater setup to go with my new Sony A80J.. Your review of the Cinema was invaluable. I bought the Costco Denon s760h and ordered the Cinema system since it's on sale. But considering returning it if the tower set, as well as the 12" sub to buy with it go on sale again. Trying to decide if it's worth the difference and hassle, as well as the extra size of the towers. And wondering if "wasting" the extra two Atmos in the Cinema package matters much. So this is exactly the video I needed right now. Thanks!!
@@ealanosborne Amazing production values as well. I don't know how you do it. Is the fuller sound of the towers + buying the 12" sub worth the extra ~$400? I guess I'll try out the Cinema and see if I find it lacking.
I went A80j + Cinema and it sounds (and FFS, LOOKS on that Sony) incredible. Saved the money and the space in an apartment and since it's my first home theater experience, ignorance is bliss if the Atmos is weak when I get a 9-channel Onkyo. Even running them with my old 5.1 amp is stunning. If I wanted to upgrade into "serious" territory, I'd go straight to the next Klipsch tier, but this is just fiiiiiiine :)
hi Ealan...coming back to my previous comment...I asked my wife if she would help me carry the towers up the stairs and she seems cool with it! so what or who would be "the keeper" of the sound now...??? lol
It’s one of the only free pieces of stock footage I could find that kind of looks like a huge event at an arena with spot lights and the works. 😄 Is that okay?
Bought the tower system sale for 799 and the r12-sw sub for 150. Best deal for my first surround system. Too bad im not seeing the sub again, i would buy another to have it left and right. As for the cinema system, its overpriced. If priced 200$ lower it could have more appeal especially the atmos feature is more of a gimmick and overall, atmos is not readily available as a content.
Was waiting for this video, but costco had a deal on the towers last week I already pulled the trigger. Now rocking with the tower system and new denon 7.2 8k receiver from Costco.
Have the same setup. Got this after viewing Ealan's videos. Thank you Ealan. Do you have any suggestions for a subwoofer? I am a novice and would appreciate any specific suggestions on the sub.
@@ealanosborne the wireless is $279, so a bit pricier. Maybe they just pulled the 12SW temporarily because its out of stock. But thanks for all the videos you do Ealan: speaker placement, receiver selection, audyssey tutorials and amp selection are all topics i benefitted from watching on your channel.
I don’t really hear the atmos on my tower speakers but then again I have 10 foot ceilings 😞. Other than that I’m very happy with them, added two 12” subs from the Costco sale 🔊🔊👌
Yeah man…even without the Atmos, you can’t beat the deal with 2 towers, center and 2 bookshelf speakers. I have 10 foot ceilings too, though, I get it. Well, down the road you can get some Klipsch angled Atmos speakers (RP-140SA, for example) and mount them on the wall above the TV or on the ceiling. 🤘Piece by piece, baby! You got time!
