#budget gaming monitors are nice! from Pixio to Sceptre, there are no shortage of 1440p monitors at a low cost. $299 MSRP to be exact. LG and Gigabyte typically price similar options for $400.
So, what gives! Is Sceptre missing a lot of features with this monitor....or are they just making less money than the other brands? That is what we set out to find out today.

I got a $300 Asus Tuf monitor almost 2 years ago and still love it. The colors and performance are great on it. I have the Cooler Master Tempest GP27U arriving this weekend, Pretty excited to try it out, It seems like a good option for consoles and pc, Plus it dropped down to $799 from it's original $1099 price tag. Apparently it has some bugs that are going to be fixed with a firmware next month, But otherwise it looks like a fantastic display.

I kept a $200 monitor for some time before upgrading. It served me well. Nice snag though, pop back in and let us know how it turns out. I haven't spent much time researching that guy so I'm interested to see what you think about it.

@@Flyingfartmaster It was mostly great, It did have some flickering issues that would randomly occur, But not enough to be a deal breaker. I did ultimately return it though, Since I got the Acer Predator X32 FP instead. I had originally planned to get a 32 inch mini led display anyway.

Bought it couple of days ago and been using it for my ps5 and as of right now I don’t have any problems. I recommend this to people on a budget 👍

Does it need hdmi 2.0 or 2.1 so you can play 120hz 1440p

@@Yas_831 I believe the minimum is hdmi 2.0 for 1440p 120hz but I’m not 100% sure. I use a hdmi 2.1

@@Yas_831yes it has 2.0 hdmi you can play the next gen consoles at 1440p 120hz with this monitor i have this monitor i have no problems with it was a big update form 1080p 120hz on console

I'm waiting for mine to arrive but I'm kinda confused. the Amazon webpage says that the HDMI ports are 1.4, which should output 1440p @60hz and 1080p @144hz... Which makes no sense providing what you're showing here and what the official website says. Maybe they uploaded the wrong picture on amazon?

Did you ever solve the Xbox problem? I suspect its that the HDMI ports are only 1.4 ( as oppose to the 2.0 needed). It could be that a 8 $ adapter HDMI to display port could fix the issue. I'd buy one today if that worked! Edit: did some research and looks like you need the actice adapter ( has a usb a to power the cord). I haven't tested it but looks like it works on serious x

So how do you run the 1440p with the 120hz? Did u need the adapter?

@clarity6229 From what I've seen online, you would need a DP adapter. I would still like to hear from some with this monitor to be sure, but the DP port should handle 1440p 120Hz.

The Series X does VRR. S model does not which is the one used in the video. Also Z League looks cool.

Scepter ips 27 is the first monitor I ever bought and switching from my TV was surprising As the colors, texture quality was terrible for me Are monitors usually worse looking than tvs because mine was worth $250 and the games I have been playing looked terrible in quality

That is fairly typical depending on the TV & Monitor. Most monitors won't really perform well in the graphics area compared to TV's, but they will outperform pretty much every TV in motion and calibration capability.

@volarex5311 I got some good settings for it that made it look decent but I didn't know what a monitor was at the time so I didn't know that a monitor not having as good picture quality as a TV would was to be expected

I've been using the GIGABYTE m32CU for about 5 days and it has a lot of light leaks and it doesn't really convince me how it looks, I use it for a ps5 and a laptop with an rtx2060. I'm still looking and configuring but the contrast affects the image on the ps5.

I bbn play ASSETTO CORSA COMPETIZIONE on xbox series s on a Samsung 22" 1080p HD TV. Forza 6 looks great but ACC is not good at all with scenery trees popping in and out and overall display is grainy. I also tried it on a 55" Samsung OLED and was mo better. So it could be either TV or Xbox S. I was about to buy this Sceptre and seeing your review of it with the Series S I decided no. I have sent the ACC Developer a bug report about this.

I bought this for my Xbox series x, because it was an upgrade from the LG one I got from a friend, which was only 1080, and didn't have the best panel, but it had 120fps. I was wanting to maintain 120fps, while also increasing screen size and resolution. I set it to manual to get 120fps, because 60 is too slow for call of duty now. Has anyone had success converting to display port? I found one on Amazon for around $50, but need to wait a bit on purchasing. Just curious what others have tried. Overall, for my budget, I'm happy with this monitor.

@@Yas_831I watched this video a few months ago. I have Xbox series x, and can only do 1080p 120Hz or 1440p 60Hz. This guy used it with PS5 at 1440p 120Hz no problem in the video.

Yes you can. It just doesn't auto switch/allow 1440p 120hz unless you manually select the HDMI input type.

@@BainCustomThanks for the reply! But I thought Xbox consoles only send HDR metadata in the 4K container. So unless you have "Allow 4K" checked which overrides your resolution choice and refresh choice (in HDMI 2.0) you don't get a HDR image. The only way I can think you'd be showing a HDR image in 1440p is if your monitor has a HDR toggle and you're displaying HLG HDR from the monitor. Now if I'm wrong about all of this can you please show a monitor in 1440p mode with an in game HDR brightness adjustment? I would love to be wrong about this but don't think I am.
