Onboard air is a huge advantage when heading offroad. It gives you the ability to lower your air pressure, take advantage of more grip and a smoother ride. Once you start airing down, you can't go back, the difference is incredible. Of course, once you air down you must air back up! Having a simple system eliminates those pesky gas station stops and also give you the ability to fix a flat or lend a hand to someone in need. More info and photos on instagram @overlandunderbudget
This setup here is using some of the following products:
$130: www.amazon.com...
90-120 psi pressure switch $11 : www.amazon.com...

Perhaps your son should do a video walk-through of his favorite bike and a riding demo. Add it as bonus footage to one of yours or a standalone :)

If anyone here is considering doing a similar on-board air system, I have a suggestion to make the wiring more reliable. If you plan on leaving the power on to the compressor for more than a minute or 2 at a time, I would suggest using what's called a continuous duty solenoid. They use them on gas powered golf carts to energize the starter-generator as long as the accelerator is pressed (electric carts have a 36 or 48 volt solenoid and wouldn't work in a car). When I was a golf cart mechanic, I saw a few people replace that solenoid with a starter solenoid from an auto parts store, and it didn't last long because the coil isn't meant to be ran continuously. Sure, it can handle the current, but the coil will eventually burn out.

good info thanks!
@deanhallam1440
@deanhallam1440 3 года назад
One more thing. Some OEM golf cart solenoids, particularly for older Club Cars, may use different voltages but still be visually identical. Make absolutely sure you're getting a 12 volt one for a gas model, or it won't activate with a car battery.

Forgive me if I missed it somewhere, but regarding your 4-way simultaneous tire in/deflator system; it would be helpful if you posted the hardware pieces you used to build that. I found everything to build it, but is that a brass valve-stem you used for the quick dis/connect to the digital pressure gauge? Thanks, buddy.

Is the pressure switch running to/from the switch on console? how did you run the wire?
@OverlandUnderBudget
@OverlandUnderBudget 4 года назад
pressure switch in on the tank in the rear, and the wire splices into the positive side of the switch wire that runs to the starter solenoid. When the pressure switch hits 120 psi it opens the circuit or breaks the power line if that makes sense
