To enter the giveaway just watch the video for instructions! I may update the shirts by the time I send them out, we will see what kind of time I have. I personally really like the current design! As some of you all may know, Tara and I are getting married. It has been 8 years! We will be traveling half the country to our home town. With that, I am not 100% sure when I will announce the winners, but Ill give the video a week or so to collect all the entries. The interior is pushing the home stretch and looking forward to coming back to finish the sink and the last storage location Thank you everyone for being by my side!
Something I learned when I began cutting plywood: If you want cleaner looking edges on your cuts and reduce the amount of sanding, use painters tape placed across the cut to prevent wood tear when using your circular and jig saw. Not my idea (watched many videos) but it really does work and makes for a cleaner looking cut. #Astro
Last summer I bought an #Astro van to live in part time while I was in college. The school is 4 hours away from where I live and I was gonna stay a few nights in the van and then drive home for my days off. Well the school had other plans and during my first week they changed my schedule to 5 days a week and told me to take it or leave it. So I ended up leaving it as they just care about bleeding students dry and not about actually helping them. It's been a hell of a year (and not necessarily for the best) but one good thing that came out of it was that I got an awesome and reliable vehicle. I use it as my daily driver, to haul stuff around, and as a camping rig. I'm planning on going camping with it again this weekend.
School is expensive and a large commitment. Sorry to hear that. I got my AA in Health Science with a goal to become a Physical Therapist. After the two years I realized it was not for me. I then got my Personal Training Certification and trained for two years along side RU-vid. I then dropped training ( even though I started my own business working for myself and made good money) because it simply was not for me for specific reasons. Now, I am doing more of what I really enjoy for less, which is fine because I am happy. Basically, school isn't the end all, be all. Try it out again next year, hopefully with a better schedule and see if it suits you. If not, it is never too late to find a career. Glad to hear you enjoying the van Isaiah!
So nice to see other students living the #astrovanlife ! Just finished my build a few months ago and starting up school in august in San Francisco! Attempting to stealth camp in the city
I make a lot of mistakes and figured if I make them, showing them may help others not make them. It takes me a while to think of these kind of designs. It keeps me up at night thinking of the way I would want to go about it. Thank you for recognizing it
Your project is rockin right along. Keep up the hard work. I like watching you working on your van and the best part is you seem to not only enjoy what you are doing but you are making your vision come to life. #ASTRO
Just Chuggin along. One step at a time, no need to rush it. The moment you rush it, the enjoyment dwindles a bit. I have really liked working on the van. I still need to add front AC to the van and redo its front/rear suspension.
I Iive out in Sweeny Texas use to live just outside of Houston but we got sick of the rat race. Now I am rebuilding my van and doing custom long arms. I have a full machine shop and wood shop. Life is to fast not to try to slow it down and love the moment. So keep on chugging along and enjoy every second. 😉
@@Trueshotfirearms Living outside the city is smart. If we have to live here for another few years, we are planning to live outside of Austin. You are very right, take it slow so we can enjoy more if it. Something I am still getting used to.
Your positivity is contagious. My wife and I had an Astro in the early 2000s. With a young family, we put a lot of miles on it. We did a lot of camping trips around Ohio, and Kentucky. Made a trip to Niagara falls, one to Cocoa beach Florida, and one to Kiawah Island, SC. We had to upgrade to something larger when our family got bigger. Two of my boys are adults now, and starting families of their own. The younger two are at the prime age to start learning to wrench on vehicles. Your videos have inspired me to get another #Astro to teach them on. Talked to a guy today, and bought a '99 for $500. I appreciate your videos. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.
I typically reply to comments in the morning, but I had to reply. Your comment truly made me smile, so thank you my friend. I wish to make similar memories as you did, but since my van is much higher miles, they may not be as far… maybe Teaching them and having fun with the van will create memories that will last them a lifetime. It’s also relatively easy to work on, so good choice. We are very excited, we are heading out this Thursday to Florida. Thank you Buckeye
Looks really good. Just a word of advice. If you notice your saw is leaving chewed up edges like that, it might be time to change the blade. If you are just trying to get it done with what you've got, another trick is to cut so the chewed up edges are to the back out of sight. Looks like it's gonna be a neat little build. Good luck.
I am planning to replace the blade, maybe a fine toothed one would do it justice? Another viewer suggested using masking tape. Next time I will try to reduce the chip out. Thank you!
I love the way you are learning as you go. That van has come a long way. Many of your videos have given me a sneak peak as to what's underneath and inspired me to do work on my #Astro.
That is kind of how I am. Yet, I could not find a build as simple as mine, all while looking decent. Everyone either over builds it (which is fine, just not great for beginners) or under builds it. I wanted to be in the middle. I wish you luck and do not hesitate to reach on on Instagram if you need help!

Your bed idea is what I have in my van . But the side I have is lower I have a small sink and shelf's on the back and sliding doors under . I would like to share some of my photos with you if you have an email I can send them . #Astro
I would love to check it out! I do, but I do not want to post it here. Do you have any version of social media? Also, edit your comment and space out the period and the HashtagAstro, if you can!
