Thanks Jeff, good tube usage.. I remember tuning carb's and the screw driver rolled into battery terminal and became parted.. .. I was around 19 year old and learning .. now 63.. with many learnings .. I have a 390 in thunderbird and will be watching !

That orange RTV is good up to 700°F, but exhaust manifolds get hotter than that.

Cooked Permatex orange right out of my donuts. What a smoke show.... Stink... 😲 Yep it cured 20 hrs before starting.

More expensive but also more reliable are Remflex gaskets

We looked at The Rim Flex gaskets, they are a solution that we alluded to in the episode this is just a quick fix.

Just put Doug's Headers on it, they actually work better with the original style starter in place and they sound awesome. Thanks for another awesome video.

We're talking about doing headers on it when we do the rebuild but for this point in time I'm not going to take the time to mess with it. This is just a quick fix

I can't wait to see how it looks on the inside. I don't know what you have planned for the door panels, but I think the black vinyl door panels with the wood grain insert would look nice on that truck. I can't wait to see what you have in store for that 390

We have found an XLT Ranger pickup truck that we are buying for a parts truck it has really nice door panels. This truck was originally saddle interior so we're going to go back with that look

@@cutworm59 normally I wouldn't either but we're in kind of a tight spot. I don't want to spend any more on the cylinder heads and manifolds that I have to right now

Some engines call for the use of silicone on certain gasket joints. So if you truly "use no silicone" you aren't following manufacturer's instructions.

Years ago,I went to look at a Nissan Maxima that was for sale, when I took it for a test drive there was a loud ticking coming from the engine, and the guy said he thought he'd actually fixed that , it turned out to be a leaking exhaust manifold, and he'd tried to fix it by smearing white bathroom sealant around it externally.

Have you checked to make sure the mating surface is true and flat? Maybe take some diechem or sharpie and run it across a flat surface with some emory cloth. Same
