So glad to see MISSHA get a shoutout - I love so many of their products. Personally, my skin responds the best to Tatcha - but the price is just completely out of reach. It would be great to see some affordable alternatives to some of their best products.
I think that a better alternative for Dr. Dennis Grow peels is the essence of Aha and lactic acid from Isntree and another alternative for vit. C from Skin ceuticals, it is Tiam's vitamin C or COSRX's 13% vitamin C found in Jolse and another alternative for Estee Lauder's serum is Ma:nyo's bifida ampoule 🥰
Ty for this video ❤ it! Yes please do more of these 🙏 I’ve tried many L Ascorbic acid serums and they irritate my mature dry sensitive skin. Numbuzin 5+ Vitamin Concentrated serum has done amazing changes to my hyperpigmentation & malasma without any irritation and it’s wonderfully hydrating as it contains 5% panthanol. It also has 3 vitamin C derivatives as well as Arbutin, 4% tranexamic acid, 5% Niacinamide as well as heaps of other amazing skincare brightening ingredients & antioxidants. Anyone with sensitivity to L Ascorbic acid like me - give Numbuzin 5+ a try it was a game changer for me 😍
Great information. I would say Some By Me BHA/AHA/PHA is the closest to Drunk Elephant. Also, you are right - Korean vitamin C is not compatible. Timeless vitamin C is by far the best dupe for SkinCeuticals. The other alternative is Mealove Glow Maker, which has a fantastic formulation, but in my experience, Timeless's formula is much more stable (due to the packaging). I have both Missaha and Estee Lauder, and they are both excellent - I think other fermented Korean products are absolutely amazing, too; for instance, I am currently in love with SKIN1004 fermented CICA cream as the last step to my night routine to seal, 'feed' and repair my skin. A dedicated video about fermented/probiotics Korean products would be amazing AND/OR a video on alternative herbal medicine that Korean skincare does so eloquently would be great! For instance, Mugwort (good and bad), Heartleaf, Plum, Green Tea, Tea Tree Oil, Yam Root, etc - Thank you for your honest content!
Or Geek & Gorgeous has a comparable vitamin C serum to SkinCeuticals! At least so I’ve heard-personally my skin doesn’t seem to tolerate ascorbic acid 🥲 so I’ll stick with the gentler k-beauty counterparts and opt for an alternative antioxidant like CoQ10 or EGCG
Hello Dr Liu.....Great video.....I'm a huge fan of the Estee Lauder Advanced-Night-Repair....I've been using this product on-and-off for over 30yrs. Although I haven't tried the Missha Time-Revolution-Night-Repair....I have tried many, many different serums.....But I always seem to come back to the EL 'little-brown-bottle'....It's the only item in my array of skin-care products, that I'm prepared to pay the premium for :)
...me too...I always go back with Estee Lauder Night Repair...I even convinced my friend to try it and she too enjoyed it...and also recently became her staple
Hey Jenny, there is a 13% version of Cosrx"s vitamin C serum which had a smell at the beginning, but went away, it was only a 20ml and lasted 2 months, but I found it great with skin texture. Thanks for a great video!
There are a number of Korean beauty resellers here in the US, but they don't carry everything - just a curated selection, mostly skincare, & every place has slightly different stuff. Such as: Soko Glam (unsure where in the US), Ohlolly (California), senti senti (NYC), Blooming KOCO (California), & Beauty Best (NYC). They're not that much more in cost as compared to items directly from South Korea, but you do trade price for shorter shipping. I've bought stuff from Soko Glam, Ohlolly, senti senti, & Blooming KOCO, and never had any problems.
Thanks for the great review! I've used Missha Essence and Time Revolution Night Repair Ampoule for years, I love the results and they are holy-grail products!
An alternative to the Drunk Elephant glycolic acid lotion is the Apieu glycolic acid 5% and BHA cream. It softens my skin, I use it every other night, when I don't use tretinoin.
Great video, I've been wanting to try the Goodall product, but I just bought the Geek & Gorgeous C Glow. As a swap for the Estee Lauder, I read that the Numbuzin No. 3 Softening Serum was similar. I do like it very much.
I just got the C glow and I love it and I'm sensitive to L absorbic but haven't had issues and I think this is closer to the Skin ceuticals then the goodal , I didn't care for the goodal one. I would just stick to GG because I don't think Goodal is near as good and I do love Korean skincare but GG definitely has it in this category. Did u get the new peptide serum? That one is amazing too.
Or even the Manyo Bifida Biome Complex Ampoule (with copper tripeptide-1; bifida, lactobacillus, and saccharomyces ferments; EGCG (the power antioxidant in green tea); and the active compounds of centella asiatica (aka heartleaf) Retails anywhere from $11-$35 USD (I just ordered in from StyleVana on Monday for $11.50, caught it on a Flash Deal)
I stayed away from the Goodal serum for a long time due to previous bad experiences with citrus peel and other EOs--which this serum has several of. But ... I kept noticing it and decided to try it anyway because I just can't do pure L-AA. It has gone really well. I'm into my third bottle with no irritation, and I actually enjoy the scent and application. Not for everyone, of course, but it just goes to show that not all formulations are created equal, even across shared ingredients that you might want to be cautious about.
Isntree vitamin c is actually good, and surprisingly very gentle. most western vitamin c serums sting my skin, but I had no issues with korean ones. Vegreen has good waterless formula and the use pure vit c and derivative
I love that you mentioned the Sephora brand skincare. I know it's not Korean skincare, the subject of this video, but the Prebiotic Nourishing cream is amazing. The texture is silky and hydrating and it is fragrance-free. Win, win, win. :-) Love your videos, btw.
LOVE THIS VIDEO! Yes, to more like this!! Love hearing about alternatives/similar products. As for Korean vitamin c, EuniUnni and SooBeauty have been raving about the Benton 20% Vitamin C. I haven’t tried it yet, but you’ll love to hear your thoughts!!
Thanks for doing this!! My skin has improved a lot after using the goodal vitamin c serum! Will have to try the melano cc after using my stocks up😂 Could you please do a series of Korean/ Japanese products skincare routine with targeted concerns?
For the Drunk Elephant exfoliating serum, Goodal Apple Mint exfoliating liquid might be a better alternative because it also has a blend of AHAs & BHA.
Hi! Thank you for a nice video! I Im 37 have combo skin, tried VITA-C Goodal, but it irritated my face, now im using VITA C PLUS spot correcting and firming ampoule MISSHA sits much better on my face. The skin texture is a bit improved i guess.
I have used Skinceuticals Vit C and just started using the Cos Rx Vit C 23%. I actually think they both work super well! I have been using the Cos Rx for maybe 2 weeks now and recommend you try it. It has the exact same oily texture as Skinceuticals and absorbs so well. I just went to the medispa today and the technician said my skin was just so beautiful. I think Vit C makes such a difference! The Goodall one did nothing for my skin sadly. It was weirdly greasy and did not absorb well for me so it kind of sat on top.
I also go shopping at YesStyle, so for influencers like you Dr. Liu, you would get major deals. I am an Elite member which you get deep discounts and earn YesPoints to put towards products. Love them!!!
Hi Dr Liu, could you please make a video/ short explaining the difference between a clarifying shampoo and a chelating one and when to use one or the other. Also if is necessary to use an special shampoo when one has hard water. Thank you
Appreciate videos like this. Have you checked out the medi peel power aqua cream (infused with capsules containing eight types of HA) or the thank you farmer rice pure gel and cream (you can customize for your skin's needs)?
Hitting menopause and using Tret, I can no longer tolerate a lot of US products. K beauty is so gentle and moisturizing. I have pretty much switched over entirely.
I think a potential alternative to the Estée Lauder serum could be the Manyo Bifida Biome Complex Ampoule with copper tripeptide-1; bifida, lactobacillus, and saccharomyces ferments; EGCG (the power antioxidant in green tea); and the active compounds of centella asiatica (aka heartleaf). Retails anywhere from $11-$35 USD (I just ordered in from StyleVana on Monday for $11.50, caught it on a Flash Deal) 💸
I tried the Goodal serum, and it was definitely gentle for my sensitive skin but it didn’t do much for brightening I find. Hoping to try out the Numbuzin Vitamin Concentrated serum instead, have you had any chance to try it yet?
What else can I use for anti aging? I’m still using I’m From products (Rice Toner, Mugwort Essence, Ginseng Serum), and I’m also trying the APLB products for anti aging. Thanks!!! New sub!
I wish Heimish Marine cream was unscented. Its unusable. I'm not sensitive to fragrance, but this was obnoxious. Reminder, this is not the eye cream, but face cream. I would love a dupe for the Augustinus Bader rich cream. I only had a sample, went to order it and couldn't believe my eyes, that price! 😔
I use the Heimish Marine Eye Cream. No fragrance I can detect, and I have a sense of smell that is actually too acute. I could smell it when my cat's lymphoma returned.
Thank you so much for your videos. I have a question about the pads. For mature skin which do you think are more effective the Dr gross pads or the skin better ones ?
@@joker69ification I use it daily for a year now, it's really a good product and the airless container is amazing to avoid oxydation. I highly recommend it too :)
