After 10k miles of on and off-road testing my 2006 LR3 seems to have held up rather well!

Loved the video! My MPG was like yours when I purchased mine. I swapped my MAF sensor, ran bg epr and epk, changed the tranny oil, diff oils (all), and spark plugs, gained 3 mpg lol. It's something

Appreciate the video. I picked up a LR3 in April because of your videos and love it. Still fixing it up but plan to take it wheeling in the blue ridge mountains. If you ever want to do a 3rd row swap I'm in the Richmond area. Mine did not come with the 3rd rows seats. Looking to find some since I have a family of 6. I look forward to future videos.

I get 18mpg without trying in my '05, on the freeway. If I try, I can get 22mpg....and I mean between Seattle and Portland so plenty of data to strengthen the average. That seating position serves the driver well when off-road. Takes some getting used to for sure. Note that not all HSEs have rear climate control (controls). Good looking ride. I like your videos!

Thanks for Your time to make this video I like it a lot. I,am getting fall in love with the LR3. Last year 27 Dec. found one for sale in my City. They ask 8.5 I have 6 in hand, got it 6.5 CAN. I has 196.000 Km. now 205 000, and she is just unstoppable .!!! Here in Can. Winnipeg, was damn cold that time, / Jan, Feb, Marc. -20 -- to - 40Celsius./ but She was started every time no problem. ( I had no plug in at this time) The only problem happened with the tail gate opening , and the battery drained some reason in 3 - 4 days. Got the new battery, and I fixed the tail gate opening / in minus 22 Celsius .. was horrible.. / My surprise the battery draining stopped , and since She has no problem at all. I feel so lucky. It is the 2006 HSE with 19inch tire, no lifting or any other modifications . Just in case, I installed the manual emergency door opening on tail gate, but since I fix, it works just fine. I.m willing to make short video but I,am 75 no experience, and with broken English . So it is not easy as it sounds. To other LR3 lovers, THIS IS VERY RELIABLE SUV , & IF YOU LUCKY ENOUGH TO FOUND ONE BUY IT ..... Anyway, I have the 2004 DISCOVERY II. for sale, it has 148.000 Mil. on it, everything works, perfectly safe to drive. The only thing is make me sell, not enough room to park Two SUV. If You have question, / elek.kanya@gmail.com / thank You........

I have an opportunity to buy one of these for $2000 right now. Its an '05 with 160k miles. Trans is having some shifting issues when cold. It will come with around $1500 worth of parts, two airbags for the rear, 4 control arms....etc. Front air bags are new.

Thanks for the video. I always wondered about the LR3 air suspension. Would coil springs make this a better ride? I know my LR3 seems to ride rough even after adding new front airbags bags. Doing the transfer case fluid tomorrow to keep up the basics. My LR3 has 194k miles and has quirks but I love it as much as the Range Rover classics I’ve had. The LR3 is a good in town dependable truck, especially in the snow.

I just personally perfect the damping of coils I think?
@any0n378
@any0n378 2 года назад
Personally, I think it is madness to even consider swapping the air suspension for coils. Once you have coils set up for offroad, it wont be great on the highway and roll like a boat around corners. Why aren't any coil suspension owners (off road) happy with them from the factory? Air suspension auto levels with load, tows better, is much more functional all round, but you have to take care of it, and with it your suspension components. This is a 5000lbs vehicle. It will be hard on suspension components/brakes etc. If you want coils, buy something that comes from the factory with coils. It boggles the mind that DIY'ers think they know better than automotive engineers that spent millions, multiple years and thousands of testing miles on developing vehicles.

Is the LR4 Better than the LR3?
@any0n378
@any0n378 Год назад
@@MB1Billion It depends on how you look at it. LR4 rides on the same chassis as LR3 with updated interior and minor exterior changes. LR4 is much more expensive used than LR3 (in some cases 3 to 4 times as much). LR3 is hard to find with low mileage (Sub 100K). I bought a 2007 with 113K for less than $5K. LR3 has a Jag 4.4V8 or Ford V6 with ZF 6 speed Trans. LR4 has 5.0LV8 Jag or later models with 3.0V6SC, both with ZF 8 speed Trans. 4.4L Jag is very reliable, with minor problems reported. Known issues are Thermostat leaks and plastic coolant T piece cracking. Both relatively cheap and easy DIY repair. 5.0V8 has known timing tensioner issues, which will cost min $4K to change out, and if ignored, will detonate the motor. I dont know about the 3.0V6SC engines, but these vehicles are newer models and will cost in excess of $20K. HD models with rear diff lock were available (albeit rare) up to 2012. After which it is traction control only. In my opinion the LR3 is the sweet spot because it is relatively cheap, quite bulletproof (for a Land Rover) and can be had with a rear locker. You will have to consider more small maintenance (cosmetic) repairs because of the age (2005 - 2009). All LR3 and LR4's will require new control arms at some point, and for goodness sake, don't change the air suspension for coils. The compressors and valve blocks can be rebuilt for less than $200 in parts. It is almost unheard of to have to change air struts - only those who dont know the working of the air suspension do this and it never fixes their problem.
