InTheWorkshop....
Channel Shop In this video we take a look and try out the Parkside Plasma Cutter PPS 30 B2 from Lidl.
IMPORTANT UPDATE If you remove the wire guide/support ring and have the nozzle straight on the material it cuts loads better but you will get through nozzles a lot quicker. I tried this and turned my air down to 3 bar and it cut lovely.

Thanks... honest appraisal... angle grinder with fine discs a better option I'd say.

Hi to everyone, the first time I used I was also very disappointed, after some uses I realized that the Thorch is pilot arc but is a contact type machine. The problem is the small steel ring that keep the point too far from the piece. Take it out and I could easily cut a 10mm thick steel plate , the point has to lightly touch the metal to make sure good current flow. Thank you and good work!!

Just bought one ( cheap) for a dabble with one.. 2mm stainless easy,,, hacked my way through 12mm steel,, practice and changes on going 😅

Thanks for that review. Probably stick with a battery angle grinder for basic work and a compressor one for finer work.

What would be a better purchase to have a plasma cutter in your workshop?

Interesting video, David. Was looking at that in Lidl a couple of weeks ago. Don't think I can justify it - yet. Just need to find a project that will give me an excuse to buy one. :-) Thanks for sharing. Cheers to you and yours.

It would nearly be as quick using an angle grinder Sandy. Take care David 🙂👍

Thanks very much for this. Already had a word with myself about not needing/affording the one in our local Lidl, but nice to know it's rubbish anyway. Just subscribed and look forward to watching all your other stuff! Cheers.

Meh, I think you’re better off with an angle grinder most of time.

If you're cutting angle start you from the outside edge inwards by the way. I think 6 mm is the limit for these.

Think your compressor is too small, needs plenty of cfm for clean cutting
@InTheWorkshop
@InTheWorkshop 2 года назад
The compressor is bigger than my previous ones and the cut is not that good even when the tank is full and not kicking in. Some plasma cutters have a built-in compressor that can't be very big but you could be right George 👍

Just watched your review and they are back in now just thinking about getting one to cut up some old lpg gas bottles would you still recommend it
@InTheWorkshop
@InTheWorkshop 4 месяца назад
Depends on the wall thickness.If you do use one, don't use the wire guide as it works loads better right up to the material. You would need spare tips to do this and a power supply that can take the amps without tripping. If you don't have an air supply you would also need one of these. There are some plasma cutters that have a built-in air supply 👍

How about the one with the 40 Amps can use that one with regular house hold's 220 volts or it requires an 3 phase connection please ?? Your response would be highly appreciated....SIR GEE

I'm sorry but I haven't had a 40 Amp one. I think there are lots of reviews for 40 Amp models on RU-vid. So if you check out a few of them they may have the information you need. 👍

I guess that one of the worst piece of kit that Parkside ever made, useless , huge power drain, ugly cutting. I'll stick for all those jobs with a simple cutting disk . Well thanks to you we don't need to buy this and be disappointed 😂😂😂👍👍👍
