Budget RC Drift Build: Part 4 Adding Decals, Spoiler, Tint, and Body Lines

With the chassis up and running and the body mounted and painted, its time to add some detail to the body. In this video I install the spoiler and headlight pieces, tint the windows with tint film, add panel lines and decals. There's still more to do with this body including adding lights, inner fenders and interior, but already this car is looking great. Just a few added details really makes this body pop!

Im glad to see the whole RC thing getting popular once again. I never actually owned one but my brother created bunch of them and I idiolized him for doing so. Seeing you create and add detail to this 180sx reminds so much of the good old days. Im glad to see creativity here on RU-vid once again.

I personally like to use spray tint. I think it's meant for tail lights but it looks uneven and spotty when looking out through it but looking into the cars darker interior it always turns out really great

for tinting with film you could use a hairdryer to form them beter, the easiest way is heating it on the outside of the body first and then putting it on the inside

Glad that info helped. I sometimes prefer the look of painted panel lines, however considering how easy the tape is to apply and the nice even result it creates, It's hard to beat.

Tamiya makes light tint spray. Im not into drifting but this car looks great. Good job.

Thank you! I've used Tamiya tint in the past. I wasn't thrilled with the result when using a spray can, but I liked the result using their acrylic paint applied with an airbrush. Although I can't imagine I'd be that durable and it's a bit of hassle to get the mix right, it went on much more even and looked awsome. The convenience of tint film is great, but unless I can master my technique, spraying a dark tint is probable the way to go.

Really professional production values on your vids. And the builds are amazing. Breath of fresh air, the rambling monologs on some channels are really played. A little scripting can add a lot of information without the a lot of preamble getting to the point.

Loving your work sir. for a new item try adding some wheel wells and allow for some piping to be added in case you use a smoke generator. in regards to your balance wait for more of the interior to be in place.

Thanks for the comment. The interior should help even out the weight distribution a bit. Piping into the wheel wells for a smoke effect is a great idea, although personally I find smoke generators to be more tacky than cool but maybe some day I'll install one.

man you gotta do something about lightning ... i´ve seen this with most youtubers doing similar on cam crafting and its mostly to bright (must have to do with modern HD cameras or so) .... as soon some brighter colored surface is visible it just tends to be a unified bright white "glare" without details ... maybe dim down light may help a litte ? can t tell... but i think its those modern cameras on wich everything is easily over illuminated , wich is no good in these kinda videos where the optical details are the most important part

With the imperfections in the rear glass it almost looks more like a real car. I've nearly never seen a liftback/hatchback vehicle with flawless rear glass. Something almost always get stuck on there or something.

Hey! Awsome build you have! I just got a Toyota chaser body for my chassi but im wondering how you mount your 180sx body to the chassi? I might missed it in your video but i really want to know how the body and the chassi stick together :)

A lot of guys like to use magnetic body mounts such as these: www.ebay.ca/itm/4Pcs-Magnetic-Stealth-Invisible-Body-Post-Mount-for-1-10-AXIAL-SCX10-4WD-RC-Car/132847289773?hash=item1eee50c5ad:g:6~0AAOSwczdb4o-c:rk:3:pf:0 This eliminates the need to drill holes in the body for the posts. I custom designed and printed some magnetic body mounts that secure the body to the chassis. I think that was shown in part 3 or 4? Anyway good luck with your project. 👍
