Using a Velleman K7000 Signal Tracer Kit as the skeleton and an electrical junction box as the body, you can have a fairly dependable signal tracer for under $40.
I built the Velleman kit and it works great. I have tube Eicos and Heaths but wanted a solid state battery-op. I also used that same gray box for a small audio generator kit. Those work great.
Hi. Thanks for watching. I've tried a few things so far as a probe. One is just the BNC cable with alligator leads. Because that is what I had laying around. I also built one with just a piece of coax and I leave the outer shield inside the insulation and just the center conductor part sticks out a bit. I use it as a signal tracer and not so much as an injector. Maybe I'll try some different probes on a circuit to see the performance. Tim
