I’ve moved the breather to the back of the engine on that one as it fouled the turbo. I normally run the hole thing as breathing is important. You will blow all through the turbo other wise. This was just a mock up to test stuff.
Thats a good engine. I have a ford escort zetec efl 1.6 16v none turbo it's my first car and am thinking of turbocharging it but I can't get enough information about the car. Can you please tell me what you did on your engine
That one is based on the mk1 Focus Rs. It progressed to a full copy. The 1.6 isn’t the best starting point as it has smaller valves and stuff 1.8 would be better, 2.0 better still.
guys please help,,,,, real swap zetec 1.8 EYDC >>>> 2.0 EDDB or IMPOSSIBLE ? need to change something or >> 1:1 fastenings and spare parts, gearbox?? pleaseeeee !! give an answer please
@@wasa7 No, thats true. But i still need a cluster from a RS? Or can i use any Focus mk1 cluster? Or can i skip cluster totally? The ST170 doesn't need any cluster 😬
Lane Ewert , I made it mate. I’ve made a few. This one is a bit more over the top than the others. I am working on one for my next engine now a rwd st220 engine.
@wasa7 absolutely dope motor bro! I own a Ford Focus ZX3 and it has a ZETEC engine inside. You're setup makes me think about what is possible with the engine. It gives me to many ideas lol 😆
@@wasa7 I know this is years ago....but if you can give me some information about what you did inside of the engine to support the power the car is creating that would be sick, thx
now i have a ford mondeo mk2 from 2000 2.0l zetech engine and i want to turbo it but i have been looking for a ''kit'' for a long time any help/tips you can give me?
@@wasa7 iv done my own before wth vws . I did my mk2golf s3 conversion but these days i aint got time an i need sumone who knows ford motors . Nice set up all the same mate 👍
I made it mate, it’s mostly scrap metal that I wobbled or bought for a drink on my travels. I did pay retail for the 32mm metal tube for the coolant pipes and all the silicone and other stuff. It’s been on my back yard under a tarp since late last year. I’ve finished playing with it so I may part with it once I’ve given it a clean and a paint. Cheers
Focus Rs parts are bolt on. Subaru turbo is a little fiddly to clock but not hard if you have some heavy duty circlip pliers. I find the electrics easy, others don’t. I’ve posted all the pin outs. I’ve now stripped this down and made it rwd for a kitcar. Vid coming soon.
The engine you see is a plain 2.0 Zetec with a 1.3mm gasket dropping the compression ratio to 9.5:1 and a set of hd inlet valve springs. Lots of respected tuners say that a standard Zetec will do 250 bhp. The conrods are the week link. This is running the focus Rs mk1 ecu so with the slightly higher Cr it should be 220bhp plug and play. I’ve now built what they call a hybrid engine. St170 bottom end with Arp’s Zetec top end with the st170 inlet valve springs and a 1.8mm hg. These are “rumoured” to be good for nearer 350bhp due to the stronger con rods. I’ve not found any one to push it over 300bhp I shall start it at the 220 mark until I’ve bedded it all in, I may just stick a stage 1 bluefin tune on it for a 250 ish bhp or take it to Sabre tuning for a bit more. I just want it running so I can get it mot’ed.
Leigh Bufton Exhaust ? That was an aftermarket Chinese eBay special ( Focus Rs mk1) that I cut the t25 flange of and welded a td04 on in its place. Inlet is focus Rs mk1 Cheers
@@DARODOLO the Rs ecu won’t just plug into your loom. The idea with using a factory ecu is you build the engine to the tune of the ecu and just plug it in. If you then want to map it there is Sabre tuning.
