When I clean my birds out, I give the half eaten seeds to the outdoor birds as a lil something extra along with the seeds I buy for the outdoor birds. I put them out front near the door, where we have a lot of bushes & the birds seem to like them. So much so, that we now have more than one pair of sparrows nesting in the soffits out front. XD I like to think the baby birds get a good start with some food and shelter to hide in. :D

True when I'm cleaning my budgies cage too. I have a net so it can catch the seeds, but the poop right when I'm done...about two times for both of them 😂😂 I just put that paper down!

I've been using the ground corn husk with great success. The husk is the same color as the bird's poop, so the cage appears cleaner. Also, the husk absorbs the order, so the cage always smells clean. Price is good and it's available a locations that sell pet supplies.

It's grit. Some birds need it to help break down seed in their crop. Budgies however do not! It can actually damage the lining of the stomach and he shouldn't be giving it to them

@@foxymummanz hey, you are wrong about that budgies do need grit they have a gizzard. Helps digestion how else are they going to breakdown seeds. I was just at my birds avian vet 2 days ago. All budgies need it.

All birds have a gizzard. Budgies have a very sensitive one that is not a thick as other birds. Grit can damage the lining of the gizzard and cause health issues. Wild budgies don't use it for this reason. I can see why your vet would make this mistake however as most other birds do need grit

My budgies did that too when I first got them. It's normal, she is extremely nervous. In a few days she will open up and begin to eat and drink.

Instead of sweeping then scrubbing the floor, you can try vacuuming after that, just so you can make sure you get all the seeds that you maybe missed while sweeping. Scrubbing is necessary for all the poo though.

The fact that my parents got me budgies was so shocking but it came with a price. A limited budget. That is why my budgies don't have alot of toys (they do have some that I made) and also I need to limit the amount of food in their container so that they don't flap their food all over the place my sister's keeps telling me that I am being really cheap . But hey this is what I am willing to do for the happiness and the loud screaming of my precious birbs (p.s they are outside most of the time .Like who even needs a cage they would prefer sleeping outside tbh every bird would)

Your birds are probably either moulting or stress-plucking. You should explain to your mother that birds shouldn't be doing that and that they need out-of-cage time *every day* unless you want them to die from stress, or freeze to death by their feathers going too quickly for the pin feathers to grow in properly/at all (this statement refers to extremely quick moulting, not the stress-plucking)

birds aren't something to look at from the other side of the cage. if your mom doesn't like them and doesn't want them out the cage then I'm sorry to say this but you should reconsider them as a pet and give them to someone who can. and once you're on your own and it fits your schedule you should own birds again when you can give them all the free time out the cage. I had two cockatiels when I was younger when I lived in florida. inside the house was too cold from the ac for them all day, the warm humid garage made them more comfortable and made my mom happy that their mess wasn't inside the house. although she didn't like when I took them inside to play I did it anyway because I knew they needed some fly time. I guess train your birds when your mom isn't home, they need it.

My conure cleaning routine is Take out water bowl Unattach bottom from top Get bottom, scrub it off Put back together Forgot to mention that I take out all perches and toys Now take play stand Empty everything out of it Scrub off poop and whatever else is stuck on it Enjoy! By the way, please try switching your budgies over to pellets. It is more healthy, and will decrease risks of fatty liver disease
